Antivirus/mobile security worth it? - Galaxy S III Q&A, (US Carriers)

Do you guys run any type of antivirus or mobile security?
If so, which?
If not, why not?

no.
you can use Google Latitude to find where your phone is if it's lost or stolen.

It's really not worth it. There aren't any viruses to protect you from, and they eat up resources. If you need an emergency program in case of theft or loss, there is always Plan B. http://goo.gl/jQazZ

I just use an application that monitors permissions.
If an application has unnecessary permissions I just deny them then no need to worry.

I used cerberus. Best security there is to offer. Youtube a review. It's crazy how many features it has for $3

T-Mobile LogMeIn Rescue App

Does anyone have an apk ripped to install to get it to fully work for T-Mobile? The version in the market only allows to see stats and apps installed and doesn't give remote access to the phone.
TMO will have remote access, you won't. Its a troubleshooting tool. Read the description for mobile rescue app in the market.

Guess I'm a little lost with what your asking. I asked that user to send me a PM(private message). Not too sure what you're referring to. Honestly if you have unsupported software you're on your own anyway. Comes with rooting the device.

I don't use any, don't really think a phone needs it to be honest.
Hmm. So far have never heard of a phone been attack by a virus. I'm also thinking if there is really a need for an antivirus hence am checking out the feedback on this. Thanks for all your reply. Cheers!!!

Yes common sense is indeed a good protection. But it could be too tough to use.

Pdroid better privacy protector app on neo

Who else would like to have this app? Ask the developer to support Xperia phones.
And if you dare to try it, share your experience. It seems a bit risky to install it.

any must have "keep my anroid safe" apps ?

hi
I've done some reading and know I should not to login to sensitive stuff on public wi fi's , not to install apps with over giving permissions or crappy reviews or from crappy sites... but other than that:
should I be installing any app that can keep my phone protected from spyware, malware, viruses etc. ?
I really want to be on the safe side as long as they don't eat up my battery too fast
1 Make sure to use a safe lock... Any swipe to unlock can easily be opened because you leave a fingerprint trail
2 If you have stock android, you can encrypt your internal storage
3 Root your phone and install the Avast Security Suite. Especially the Theft protection is strong.

anything that is added on that is not in stock aosp roms that you don't use or is not system related.
Can u give me a list ? Im new to rooting would appreciate any assistance

Most of the apps you can find on Play Store should be removable. Don't concern yourself too much with bloatware unless it is significantly affecting your phone's performance. If you're still not sure, I suggest you don't root your phone until you understand what root does to your phone.
