Hi everyone
I have a problem with my new S3 (1 week of use). Since yesterday, suddenly, there is a delay when I want to go to the "home screen" as I show you in the next link:
youtube.com/
watch?v=8xAdvZt-CNo&feature=player_embedded
(sorry with the "link", but I m not able to include a link yet, so I write it in two lines)
In another forum I was suggested to change my "live wallpaper" into a "S3 normal wallpaper". I have done this but the problem remains.
I dont know if this could be a problem with my S3 or is something related with the ICS??
I hope somebody could help me with this.
Thanks

I have same problem buddy and its driving me nuts
That's the known redraw issue with almost 5billion threads already...
It's caused by your phone not having enough memory to keep the homescreen alive when using apps.
One of the prominent reasons would be your live wallpaper.
Try testing the following:
- Install (and use) Go Launcher
- use a static background image
- Go to Preferences->Advanced settings and tick 'Prevent force close'.
Does the issue still appear?
If yes; which apps are you running in the background? Something is chewing up your RAM prettly badly.

Has it been proven that it's a ram issue?

There is no option for this on S3
Go to Preferences->Advanced settings and tick 'Prevent force close

Check in your developer option limit background process set it to standard limit ..its default setting ..
Check what's the ram your left with if that didn't solve it .. something is eating your ram ..
The S3 available ram sucks the phone by default already using almost 600mb

Hello guys,
This phenomenon has been through dozens of i9000 roms and a good two dozen i9000 roms, LauncherPro ALWAYS FCs when I reboot the phone.
It seems the phone is still scanning the SD memory. In settings it says Launcherpro is installed on device (default) so I wonder why I would always get these FCs? Anybody know whats going on with that?
Cheers,
Mark
You will need to change the memory settings in Launcher Pro. Go in advanced then memory usage. Tick one of the preset in the bottom. If you have a lot of home screens and widgets like me, pick the one that says "low". Don't take the last one in the bottom though.
That could also make the whole scrolling through home screens a lot smoother. Much more so than TouchWizz.
You might get a few FC on startup every once in a while but 8 times out of 10 it'll go fine.

Hi
Thanks Davith, I have set that and will see how it goes... cheers for that. I would have thought LOW would mean the app gets less memory allocated, so therefore would be MORE prone to crashing! I wonder why LOW would make it more stable, do you know?
cheers,

strange issue happened to me with toggle widgets ( airplane, wifi, bluetooth ..etc)
after rebooting my device these widgets in home screen are disappear !!
I tried to re-add them. I can't !!
also, the space where they should be is not available to add another widget either.( no long press ) i.e. I've now got a dead/unusable space on my home screen. !!
rebooting device ? yes without benefit !!
ok, i find the solution , it's going to home launcher application and clear data. of coure loosing everything you made in your home screen .. but !!
but i have to do this each time i reboot my device because this bug coming after every reboot !!
and this is not a logical solution !!
so any idea to solve this problem ?
ThanX
Stock launcher's fault. I had the same problem with Fifty Two.
ok what are we going to do ? it's really annoying
My 3G toggle switch also periodically disappears. What I find works is if you go into settings and turn all your data on, i.e. wi-fi, 3g, 4g, bluetooth. Then reboot the phone and when it comes back the icons are usually all visible again
use taskiller to kill laucher , togger will appear again
Similar issue occurred today and i fixed it by force stopping the toggle widgets service.

Can you please provide details of how to "force stopping the toggle widgets service"? because I could not find any service or app by that name in Task Manager!!
Please provide the service name and any application that you used to view this service and kill/force stop it?
Thanks
Yeah, Ive been getting this issue. I think Moto should issue an update to fix this bug.
Hi developers
i have loading delay on my Sam.GS3
when i use an application or work for 2-3 minutes on setting or ...
and then back to main menu OR press Home key to back to home
i see delay to load shortcuts or widgets, or when wanna back to main menu delay to load apps icons and etc.
i cleared the cache and closed all running apps (but just system apps.)
but still i see delay.
however i had this problem on Xperia Arc, Xperia S but i could free RAM and then i could see that the smartphone work faster and more responsible
BUT now Galaxy S III (however) it has QuadCore processor But i have problem and cannot clear RAM and cache.
what s your opinion and what should i do to have faster mobile and real quadcore access.

U got 2 ways to fix this problem:
1) go to setting-->Developer options-->Window animation scale and Transition animation scale set to off or 0.5x (this should be help)
2) Root your device and install titanium backup, it allow u to freeze apps, like some samsung background apps eg: allshare.etc u can close it through there
then it can save ur ram.
Hope this could help u.
It's a problem with the launcher. Samsung is taking a play out of Apple's book here. They've configured the launcher such that when ram demands are high, regardless of how much free ram is left, the launcher closes so that the current app will run smoothly and the user will be unaware of the decrease in ram. Sadly, not everyone likes this.

You can use another kernel or another rom if you want to try them.

so changing the kernel and rom can effect on speed and performance of device???

U can flash OMEGA rom, for example, which has all the tweaks U will ever need, and it comes with omega kitchen preinstalled, and there U can find different kernels, to improve battery life, mods to reduce home button lag, etc..

But it may not cure your problem 100% .
TRYLag
for the home button lag - disable the home button when pressed for S-voice.
I also got transitions & pop-ups set to 0.5x rather than 1x (in dev options under settings)
Surfing the net pressing home button and find the home screen reloads. So bit of a lag which is very annoying, until samsung sort this out with a software update there is a work around. Simply disable s-voice from.settings that's it. I haven't actually experienced screen reload since.
Let me know if this works for you or not.
Try this
Untick under s-voice settings the following:
Launch S Voice
Wake up command
Under application manager go to running select s-voice and stop all services.
Go to all and disable s-voice. This will remove the app from app draw list too, you can also disable chat on app too.
This should stop the app running in the background.

Hi
I'm just looking for a simple answer: how to NOT be advised that an app is closing or is busy with that annoying popups???
When I (try to) play Dead Trigger on my xmp, sometimes I get totally stucked (and killed-by-zombie-by-bites-and-fists) because of popups that steal focus to nicely inform me that a background or foreground (like launcher) app is busy or has been closed in an inusual way, and I MUST click "ok" to go forward!
GHHRRRRR!!!!!!!
I just would this: dear Android, kill all the fkkk apps you want but do not advise me please, I want just continue fragging!
Is there a way to avoid these annoying popups, then?
Thanks to all, bye.

go to Settings/Developer options and uncheck "Show all ANRs"!
Hi
well, deselecting that option, all good for now...
Thanks very much... me almost n00b here.
Hi
In must say it works only half: when an app closes, i mean it crashes, the same i have a "confirmation" popup; less then before, but sometimes happens.
No way to suppress these popups at all?

when foreground apps is crashed android automaticly shows report! and when you uncheck ANRs you actually disabling reports for background apps! try uninstall some apps which use lot of ram and you will see if your problem is solved!
Hi
Unfortunally, one of the app that crashes when I play is Xperia Home (a modified version developed here on xda).
My workaround is to switch launcher before playing.
There's no prop or parameter changing it I suppress all alerts?
try RAM managers option "lock home in memory"!
I HAD TO uninstall ram manager, this was ordered by supercharger!
Well, perhaps I really have to try to lock launcher in memory in some way...
Supercharger have that option too! Well.. Good luck!!!

Howdy all,
This might be stupid of me, but i will ask anyway...
I have my Razr running ICS with Go Launcher
Everytime i go into the app drawer, and tap "Running", I find all these apps that i haven't even opened. I tap the little broom to close all apps (Which it does) then exit out. A couple of minutes later, even after not opening anything, i go back and there are all these apps running again that i don't use.
My questions are...
1) Why are these apps popping up???
2) Is there a way to stop it from happening again???
I feel that it would be draining my battery having all these apps running in the background, which as you could imagine would be fairly annoying lol
If anyone could help, it would be greatly appreciated
Thank you in advance
:good:
Android always runs apps in the background and from what I understand some may be for a feature you do not use but there are required processes for the system to function.
What you can do is go into settings, applications, all, and things you do not use you can uninstall updates and then disable them.
I got rid of a bunch of background apps that way.

or get rom toolbox and use the auto start manager to choose which applications will start in the background during boot. but do this with caution as it can cause you to have a boot loop if you accidentally disable a system required file from being loaded

Do you need to be rooted to use Rom Toolbox???
yes
That's Android for ya lol. You can also root the phone and delete certain apps you don't want. Titanium Back Up is good. If you do this make sure you check the thread of bloat that's OK to remove. Some apps need to be on the phone. And if you do root your phone and flash roms most roms already remove unnecessary apps.

I noticed this early on and it was annoying me a lot. Especially as it was slowing the whole system down, when it was sat at 91% of memory being used. So I've turned off background processes in the developers options in the settings menu. Not sure if thats available unrooted, but I've got that option now. Now it sits at 78%.
I don't have Go Launcher, did use it with GB, but I've got the power meter and the memory status bar.

Trying the "No background processes" option now (It is in developers options as default without rooting the phone) :good:
