Since getting the sgs3 this weekend, it's been chewing up my chrome bookmarks. Anyone else getting this problem? Luckily I found one of my computers that wasn't yet synced and pulled the .bak bookmarks file as the .bak on my regular computer was already hosed. After setting up chrome on the sg3 and logging in, it only partially syncs part of the bookmark file and then deletes the rest off of google. Never happened on my tabs / sgs / sgs2lte etc, so i think it has something to do with sgs3... maybe...
Same thing happened to me too! Opened Chrome on my computer and ALL my bookmarks were gone!
Did you find out where to get them back? On my w7x64 machine they're at:
C:\Users\(username here)\AppData\Local\Google\Chrome\User Data\Default
There's two files - Bookmarks (no extension) and Bookmarks.bak
On your computer, go to the wrench and down to the 'Signed in as blahblah' and then sign out of google. Then - hopefully your .bak file hasn't been overwritten yet and then you can copy the .bak file to a safe place, overwrite your messed up Bookmarks file and then sign back into google. When you do, it should pick up the new file and then re-sync it and you should be ok (I've had to do this twice now).
If your computer .bak file is already hosed, then find another device (tab? / laptop?) and before turning it back on, pull the internet connection from the wall so it doesn't overwrite the file again when it connects to the net. Good luck!!
No idea why this is happening, but looks like a sgs3 / chrome problem.
same thing happened to me. I caught it on my desktop before it wiped em all out. There are directions online how to restore them. DONT CLOSE YOUR BROWSER if you havent already. there are 2 bookmark files. you will have to restore from one of them.

Anybody else have a problem that the built in clock app has stopped working?
I get this message:
The Application Clock (process com.tapntap.clock2) has stopped unexpectedly. Please try again.
I like that clock.
EDIT: All of my applications started failing one by one.
Forced Closes on Weather, Clock, Photos etc.
Sometimes with the USB plugged in it would see all the files on the internal SD card. Other times it would say the SD card was empty.
Sometimes with the USB unplugged ES File system would see the internal SD card as empty.
Sometimes it would see the files and the sample photos I downloaded and sometimes it would not.
This all started for no apparent reason at around 5:00 PM today.
I deleated all my downloaded files and I had to do a factory reset and lose all my data.
After that reboot, everything is working again for now. I bet others will have problems after the last VS upgrade to 3389.
I had exactly the same thing
Follow the instructions "[FAQ] Why are so many applications randomly force closing"
Cured it
Just a thought. One reset was enough for me. I put all gTab bookmarks into a very straight-forward simple HTML page that is now my gTablet homepage. If I bookmark a site on the gTablet, I soon add it to the HTML page. (I also do that for all my bookmarks collected over the years.) The pages take very liitle within the free space provided by my ISP. And I swept all the apk files off to a single directory on my laptop and additionally backed that directory to an external drive. Advantages? I never have to redo bookmarks or go looking for install files. I can change tablets in just a few minutes. Hope that helps.

You can find , when you go on google.com
Had the same problem and Dashboard will just say "Please wait" and will not respond. A "factory reset" helped me to fix this issue...
Hello
I currently have a HTC EVO 3D, and on that phone I am able to create a folder named ".story" in my file manager app, and all the pictures i put in there will not be shown in the gallery app. Works very nicely and exactly how i want it to.
Now onto my issue.
I tried to do the same on my Prime, creating the folder, putting the exact same images in that folder (all from dropbox, syncing it to my comp, phone and tablet).
But the images still show up in the gallery app.
I also tried to put a file named ".nomedia" in the folder where i keep all my pictures, still didn't work.
I tried rebooting several times to see if i had to force a media rescan, but it seems like it didn't work.
I'm running .21 update, stock, with root.
Am i missing something, or doesn't this work on the prime? If so, any other way to do so? (I don't want to use a "vault" app to hide pictures and such)

I had the same problem a few weeks ago. Try the app Hide it Pro. It's free on the Play Store and does pretty much what your asking for. It also works with videos, Docs and apps.
Sorry can't post links yet!
Edit: oops sorry, I didn't read the full post
it is annoying
You are not alone, naming the folder with a initial . and creating a .nomedia file does not work for me either, and I find it annoying. Clearing Gallery cache did not help either.
Works just fine, ".foldername" with a .nomedia file in it. Does for me at least, hides it from gallery and from the built in file manager. ES file explorer picks it up but it's at that point you're not hiding anything
EDIT: Try making a file on your computer, right click and New>File, name it .nomedia, then DropBox (that's a sign up link, you'd help me out as well as yourself by using it) it. Download it and copy/pasta to the folder. That's how I did it, because a guide I read said it worked better if from the PC instead of through Android.
If you're trying to hide a whole trove of things, make a folder and name it ".foldername" and then put your hidden folder in there and name it ".foldername2", then drop a .nomedia into .foldername and .foldername2 as well, doubling up on that.
I wouldn't recommend that with app picture caches though
If you are up for using a different Gallery app, you can whitelist and blacklist folders to be displayed in QuickPic

Click to collapse
I did as you suggested, and it friggin worked! AWESOME!, mucho love to you
Now my files on my tablet is in a folder named ".story", inside that is a folder named "story" with a ".nomedia" file in it, and inside the "story" folder are all my pictures. (I made the ".nomedia" file on Windows, dropboxed it over to my Android Tablet (I made a new .txt document, removed the .txt and just named it ".nomedia" if anyone is wondering)).
After you try it, be sure to reboot your tablet, as that forces a media rescan
I have been having problems deleting a file on my Prime. When I bought it, it had the book "Alice in Wonderland" on it for free.. I do not reed books, so I deleted it. But then, suddenly, it was back on the library. I tried deleting it from file explorer, but same thing. I tried deleting the boog-image from gallery, but same thing. Back within in a little while.. Does anyone know how to disable the book-library, or to delete the file?
Thanks..
Edit: The book is called "Adventures in Wonderland", not Alice
I have a download box that continually seeks and downloads new TV shows, and I like to watch them on my tablet.
What I want to achieve is making my tablet copy and then delete the sourcefile of the new shows my downloadbox deposits in a designated folder.
There are lots of sync apps out there, but as expected, none of them has the option to move files, focusing entirely on mirroring.
This means whenever I delete a show on my tablet after watching it, the sync app would replace it again.
Setting it to both way sync usually results in copying missing files rather then deleting the excess ones.
I have tried setting up an FTP server on my tablet and letting my PC handle all the logistics with a simple batch file,
but this all too often results in corrupted files because the FTP transfer seems to regularly flake out.
Does anyone know of a solution to securely and automatically move files from PC to tablet?
Hello All,
I havnt been on here in a long time, but something is bugging me.
On the internet bookmarks there are folders labled as the gmail addresses that i have set up on the phone.
Nothing is saved in them and I want to get rid of the folders.
Isit possible??
Phone is standerd, not rooted.
Thanks in advance!!
Let 'em be, empty folders don't hurt anyone. Have you tried deleting them? Just do it, won't hurt your device (my non developer opinion).
Hello, I just hate them being there, I know it wont do any harm in removing them but i just cannot figure out how to remove them, long press does nothing
You need to be rooted for that.
Now, what are you doing checking your device's folders anyway?, no wonder it's bugging you.
don't be folder hatin' now
The folders are in my internet bookmarks at the top which i find gets in my way
Rename them to "I don't mind this folder being here 1" & "I don't mind this folder being here 2".
