Hello all,
i have a problem with my HTC Legend.
Yesterday i installed b.0.8 custom rom and everything was working fine.
Later i tried to install Profile pro from Blackmart Alpha and i guess that corrupted it somehow. It never ended installation and this morning, when rebooting the phone, it simply hangs on the 'quietly brilliant' screen.
So, i tried to flash it using fastboot:
fastboot update [update.zip]
But i am not able. I have tried with several zips (LEGEIMG_Legend_HTC_WWE_1.23.405.1_Radio_47.26.35.04_7.05.35.26L_release_120393_signed.zip, b-0.8.zip, update-cm-7.2.0-RC1-legend-signed.zip...) and it says they are not valid or signature not valid.
I have hboot-1.00 with s-on.
I have read several posts. This one looks helpful, but i don't know how to apply:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1519933
He says: 'I extracted the rom.zip from the RUU, signed it and then manually flashed it'
But i don't know how to extract rom.zip from 'RUU_Legend_Froyo_S_HTC_WWE_3.15.405.3_Radio_47.51.35.17_7.13.35.05_release_160328_signed.exe' and neither how to sign it.
I guess that good be a valid option for my problem.
Could somebody help here, please?
Many thanks,
Javier.

Hello,
when you installed b.0.8 you must have clockwork recovery (as update.zip) on SD-card. Use it from the recovery-menu (enter recovery mode by turning your device on with the volume button held down and selecting 'RECOVERY', then "vol+" and "Power" to enter the blue recovery menu, then use "Apply sdcard: update.zip"). From the clockwork mode recovery wipe the legend and flash b.0.8 again.
Thanks for your reply.
But i cannot enter in recovery mode.
Phone start in HBOOT or Recovery mode with vol- and Power.
I go down to 'Recovery' with vol- and press Power, but it does not start recovery mode. Instead, a phone image with red triangle and red exclamation mark.
I think it is because i don't have the LEGEIMG.zip and .nbh in the memory card.
So, i am at the same point, phone is not starting, and i cannot flash it.
I thought on creating goldcard to flash it, but i cannot create the goldcard as all methods i find need to connect the phone in usb mode to create it. Is there a method to create an sd goldcard without the phone?
Please, assist as i don't know how to resucitate my phone.
Thanks.

Power/Vol+
Sometimes it needs some time. so keep pressing Power/Vol+.
Try it many times.
Many thanks for your assistance...you did it!
I was not aware of that option to enter in recovery mode.
It took too much days for such an easy thing!
Thanks again!
Hello,
I am not sure what happened, but here is the story.
First, I tried to root the phone using the 1-click method, only to later realize that it does not work as the phone I had was running the latest OTA update. I wanted to reset my phone to factory default and I proceeded to do that.
Now, when my phone starts I see the small recovery menu and a lot of red letters stating that the system could not mount, find or open recovery directories, files or logs. (On the screen is this info Enter ok key,Select vol up/down Rebot system now, apply update from scard, wipe data/factory reset, wipe cache partition But nothing will move courser, then blow that in red is E:failed to open/res/recovery.fstab(no such file or directory) E:unknown volume for path[/cache/recovery/command with a lot more then in yellow letters #manual mode# and the same messages)
When I enter the download mode, and tried to use Odin or ADB, neither one can detect my device. I tried installing different samsung drivers on my system to no solution to being able to detect the device. Is this due to Windows not being able to initiate the drivers correctly, because when I connect the phone in Download mode, Windows has a pop-up show up that says "Drivers not recognized, your device might not work properly".
Does this mean the phone is bricked or is there something I can do to restore the phone?

did you try a different usb port? also I'd try heimdall and see if that works and sees your phone. which stock odin package are yup trying to flash?
I did manage to recover to the stock EH03 rom, by doing the first couple of steps in section 4 of the Guide for installing Rom (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1238070).
At this point, I cannot get root on my phone. I tried using 1 click root methods and those fail to install SU. I tried using the manual method of pushing rage.bin file using ADB, but that also failed.
I tried flashing some of the ROMs from section 4 of the above guide, but they cant seem to install on my phone. When I try to install through recovery, I get the picture of the android on the side and a failed install and either get stuck with the Samsung logo or a recovery boot loop.
Am I missing a step or something in order to root the phone or load a custom ROM? Is it possible that my phone cannot be rooted due to a lock somewhere?
Thanks.

I managed to get it working, maybe the SU.tar was corrupted as it worked this time. Thanks.
I recently changed my framework-res.apk and now I'm stuck at the boot animation. I don't want to completely reset my device with a kdz. I've looked around and haven't found much about recovery. I have the original apk file, but I just need a way to push it. Anyone have a way?

Do you have cwm installed ? If not you can try: phone powered down , hold vol+ home + power, should bring up message saying something about service center..
Code:
adb shell
su
mount -o rw, remount /system
rm /system/framework/framework-res.apk
exit
adb push /path-to/orginal/framework-res.apk /system/framework
adb reboot
Thanks for the reply. I didn't read about CWM before this happened, otherwise this would be easy. I've held down every button combination at boot that I can think of and get nothing like that. When holding vol- + home + power I get an Android and a progress bar that causes the phone to reboot after no more than 10 seconds. Nothing shows up in the device manager during that time either.

I can get into fastboot through omap4boot. If I can get a cwm recovery img for my device I should be able to fix it.

fastboot + cwm recovery only works if you've unlocked bootloader
easiest way to restore your phone now is by s/w mode ,either lg tool or offline method
or "vol+ and home and power" and the rest from 2nd post in this thread

I had cwm before i unlocked boot loader...install with 9 installer.apk and choose test version (stable version won't boot)..plus if you have a CWM backup( they r also in the forums as well) adb restore is 50 times faster than using LG Update tool.

there are two types of cwm recovery, one uses 2nd boot and other recovery partition , if bootloader is locked and phone won't boot you can't use neither and cwm backups are useless

As a young developer I HIGHLY recommend becoming very familiar with ADB, it saved a BUNCH of times on my Galaxy S...its great if you can get the hang of it, all commands are the same for all devices, the help section is sort of sketchy, but with a lot of trial and error, I picked it up nicely

The best thing to do (if you haven't done so already) is to flash the kdz (thanks cmahendra and everyone else for y'all hard work) and start from scratch. Second, install artas182x (thanks Artas!) cwm and make a backup. I had to learn the hard way too

To the OP i am currently in the same boat as far as not being able to boot and not being able to access adb. Have you figured anything out or are you still stuck? Before chimes in I do have CWM( the lights flash on reboot) but when i press the -vol button the phone does nothing.
Try connecting in s/w upgrade mode ( holding vol + while inserting usb to phone) it should load some drivers and you should be able to connect in adb. If not connect in every mode possible, to load any drivers(they will still load even though your phone isn't showing any signs of life as long as you have the installed LG drivers previously)

Hello all, I need some help with my new phone
Phone is an AT&T Optimus G E970
Phone was rooted and unlocked by myself... everything was ok!
After testing some roms, i have now lost the ability to enter recovery mode. After I press up + power button it will go into fastboot, but when y press down twice it will show the android logo with the chest open and a red triangle above... the weird thing is that the phone boots up fine with the last rom I flashed (wifi not working though).
Tried root checker and it said i am rooted. try to enter recovery from rom manager and it does nothing... would appreciate any help i can get from you guys
Bump
Sorry, but i am desperate to have this phone working at its full potential...
Try flashing recovery IMG file using flashify.
It sounds like you're using an older bootloader, which does not display the options.
Vol Up + Power enters Bootloader, not recovery. When you get to the screen with the android, press Vol Down Twice and then Power. This should get you in to Recovery.

That is what i tried doing... please look at the pics i attached... I can get to the bootloader at least. I also tried to re-root but i will need to change from "Charge Only" to "MTP" and the rom that's on the phone now ([ROM][KOT49H] AOSP-GEEB 4.4.2_r1 [Dec-13]) does not have that option. What i want to do at this point is flash the recovery by any means possible so that i can install a stock JB at least. OR some other way of rooting which i think will fix the What would you recommend?
I rly appreciate you looking into this for me
My Dell venue 8 3830 stopped working yesterday. It started with the "com.google.process.gapps" process has stopped working", which is a common error that can be fixed. However, it kept coming up and it wouldn't go away. After a while, other apps started crashing as well. I restarted into safe mode, however it just booted into the normal OS. I wasn't able to wipe the tablet either. When i pushed the "erase everything" button, it wouldn't do anything. I was able to boot into recovery, and i hit the restore button. It then proceeded to try to reboot, then gave me an error screen with the text "No Command". I then plugged it into my PC, where it booted to a screen with a picture of a USB symbol with a white bar underneath. I unplugged it and now it wont boot. All it will do is flash that USB screen. I'm thinking the OS corrupted or the Hard Drive has started to fail. Any ideas what the problem could be?

Okay, this unbrick method will install 4.3 and change your splash screen to the "Intel Inside" one instead of the original Dell logo. I also believe you will have to root to update to 4.4.2 which will void your warranty. It's a last resort type solution.

If I'm not wrong
The recovery of the android lying is a stock recovery and only will let you install the developer edition, but is 4.3 and in my tablet sometimes the instalation fails.
If you want to install zip roms you need a custom recovery
If you don't have custom recovery an option is installing stock rom images from fastboot.
Hope this help you, even with bad English

You need to flash the files for your device from here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=51090040. First unzip the FLASHPKG, then flash the boot, recovery, system and fastboot. Then flash the two .bin files in the ifwi folder.

You need to flash the files in the bootloader via fastboot commands.
