HTC Media Link HD - HTC Amaze 4G

Has anyone used this?:
http://androidcommunity.com/htc-media-link-hd-accessory-hands-on-20120420/
T-mobile store has it and it looks tempting but it is $80.

That's nice. I wouldn't spend $80 bucks for it. They should've just integrated HDMI without the need of a MHL Adaptor to this phone.
But I use my XBoX 360 over WiFi to stream videos/music to my TV.

I just sold this on XDA a few days ago. My brother got it for his One S. He used for 15 minutes and gave it to me to sell it. Not worth it. Also, it doesn't support the Amaze.

Monoprice getting in MHL adapters

Ok, so I am sure a new thread is probably not the best way to put this out there, but wanted to get the word out in case it hasn't yet...
Just got confirmation that monoprice will be shipping MHL adapters that work with the EVO 3D and other phones shortly. I had sent a request about 2 months ago and they just sent me an email back today that they are going to be shipping them and to look at PID 8675.
Hope that helps everyone as monoprice has been my place for cables for many years now. Absolute top quality cables, top customer service and their prices are unmatched.
I can't wait

That's disappointing. I was hoping for a bargain by comparison with T-Mobile.
I am happy with my T-Mo branded mhl adaptor. Even if didn't have one yet, and Monoprice had them available, I'd still buy the T-Mo brand just for piece of mind knowing that it isn't some cheap no-name knock-off .....

I agree with you. I've had good luck with micro, mini, and regular usb. Also my hdmi to micro hdmi worked well. Just with quite a few people reporting issues with their mhl adaptor, I'd rather spend 3 or 4 dollars more and get a name-brand one. I'll always use Monoprice for generic cables though, their price is just unbeatable!!
Anyway, Monoprice mhl may work perfect, and I hope they do. That's just my thoughts and opinion on it....

I may have to look into this. I need to order 4 usb cables from them but I was thinking that I should get more stuff (it seems silly to place a whole order for $2.80)

Dude, these are all made in China...it only depends on how bad each company wants to rape us, as to what they charge for it..
These things don't cost more than a dollar or 2 to make...
For those that can't for some reason or another order from T-Mobile, expansys is also selling them for $20 shipped:
http://www.expansys-usa.com/expansys-mhl-to-hdmi-adapter-black-218572/
I'm still waiting for a better bargain. I would have bought one from T-Mobile with the 50% coupon from last week - but I called 5 stores (showed up at 2) and couldn't find it. The coupon appeared to only apply in-store.

Yeah, me too..Eventually, these will be 10 bucks or less, so its just a matter of waiting a bit.
The phone manufacturers should have included these with the phones....
Monoprice finally got theirs in. Was $22 after S&H and tax. Ships today if ordered before 2pm Pacific.
http://www.monoprice.com/products/p...=10833&cs_id=1083314&p_id=8675&seq=1&format=2
The T-mobile one isn't from any recognizable brand anyway, it looks exactly like the one Expansys is selling, comes in an unsealed bag, and just says MHL & made in China on it... Works fine though. What I'd like is one that doesn't require an extra power cable, could it somehow draw power from the phone for short viewings? There's probably no spec for that, I understand eventually MHL equipped TVs will obviate the need for these powered adapters but it'll literally be years before they're commonplace.

Us people that ordered through BB have to wait till Sunday. There now don't you feel better. lol
I'm not sure if the extra 2 day wait was worth the $50 and a case I'll probably never use. Right now it don't feel like it.
That was my dilemma as well. Of course BB made it easier for me when I got up at 3 AM on Feb 5th to preorder and there wasn't an option to preorder on BB yet. Also, I'm not sure if I just overlooked it or what, but on BB's online orders I didn't see an option to keep my 2 GB of data for $25. I barely use 1 GB so I definitely didn't need 3 GB. That really sealed the deal for me. I didn't see myself using the flip case either.
Although I'm going to try out the AT&T live tv 7 day trial when I get my Note and see if it's worth the $10 per month. If I end up keeping it I will probably need the extra gig of data for $5 bucks more. We will see though.

I have an older Slingbox and I'm thinking about upgrading to a high def one. It really is great. You get all your channels that you get at home. If you have Sattelite or cable and movie channels it's awesome.
You should look into a Slingbox. It will pay for itself with a lot more channels, including all your locals.
That looks awesome, but it has a little too much up front cost for me right now. With getting a $300 phone, I don't think my wife would enjoy me spending another $330 to be able to watch TV on it. But you are right, it would definitely pay off in the long run. That is unless I got fired for watching TV at work, haha.

I don't know if we get that.
Also I wonder if we get that cool sample HD video that shows off the screen capabilities, like the Intl. Note has.
@ 9:30 she points out a speedtest result when "we forced the phone to HSPA+"...does this mean LTE can be disabled in the AT&T version? I remember reading that was not an option with the Skyrocket?
Does slingbox provide its own content to cable and local channels or is it working off an existing provider like a fios tv?

It just slings whatever channels you have on your satellite or cable TV over the internet to your phone.
It has these infrared things that hang in front of my satellite box that allow it to change my channels. It used to freak my kids out on Sundays when they were watching cartoons and the channel would change to football all by itself because I changed on my phone at work.
One great thing about these phones with the hdmi out capabilities and a slingbox is that you could be in a hotel anywhere in the world and hook your phone up to the TV and watch all of your channels, local, movie, etc.

I will ask her and report back.
EDIT: Lisa said there is not voice and data over LTE yet. When you make a phone call, the phone switches to HSPA+ and then takes a minute to go back to LTE after you end the call and that is when she did the speed test on HSPA+. There is not LTE/HSPA+ toggle on the ATT Gnote.
Thanks for the update! Hopefully a custom rom will remedy that sooner than later!

I Sold My Note

A deal came across that I could not turn down someone was selling a brand new 55inch 3d smart tv and a 3d bluray player with 2 pair of 3d glasses for a $1,800 dollars I said all I had was $1,000 truth is I had $400 bucks on me and my note and after 15 minutes they called and told me they would take the $1,000 so I put my note on Craigslist and sold it in a half hour and I know I got a good but I miss my note and I was wondering do I get another note this week when I get paid or do I wait for the gs3?

Where is the receipt from? Best Buy?
You might not have a sweet a deal as you think, because there have been some great specials on the Samsung UN55D6900.
And as far as him having the original receipt, you can get an original receipt for anything. You buy whatever item you want a receipt for at full retail price using your credit card, get and put the receipt somewhere, then take it back to the store and say you lost the receipt but you purchased it using a credit card. They check the purchase using the credit card and that's it, you just returned an item but kept the original receipt.
And to keep this post on topic, buy this: http://bit.ly/H2YK5F

While a valid point, I don't see anyone going through the trouble to do this for something as large as a television. I can see it being on sale and being flipped on Craigslist but not the original receipt method, unless someone (and I know these people exist), was very dedicated.

Just be careful of watching in 3D for too long you can get a massive headache. And 3D is not recommended for small children under 7, it could permanently damage there eyes.

Yes, THREW it out. It no longer worked. And it was still a tough thing to do.
Best buy gave me $230 for my OG EVO
So yeah I sold it.

BB wouldn't let me trade mine in because the screen is cracked (happened a couple weeks before) and Sprint offered me $60. I decided to just keep it as a back up in case something happens to this one because the crack isn't that bad...still very much usable. If I had been able to get $230 for it though, might have been a different story...

Didn't have the OG EVO, but did have the EVO 3D, and I couldn't sell that thing to save my life. I ended up just giving it to my wife. I had a desktop dock, car dock, 2 chargers, an Otterbox commuter case, a silicone case, and 3 high quality screen protectors, and was only asking $300 for it all. Had like 3 people want to trade me a PS3 for it, and that was it. Pretty upsetting.

Same boat here. I refused to sell it back to Sprint the day I bought the EVOLte and still can't seem to part ways with it. I keep telling myself I need it just in case something "goes wrong." I still use it as an alarm and occasionally to surf the web if the new phone is charging or something.
I had to break mine to get over it.
NO ONE ELSE MUST HAVE IT!
Not serious.
I thought about keeping it as a backup for a few days, but then decided to sell. I figure if I ever break or lose my LTE, a used og evo will be even cheaper down the road. Pretty happy with the $150 I got on craigslist for it.
I am actually still using mine. My contract for it doesn't come up till November. I have been here researching and waiting for info on LTE, so I can decide whether to get the new EVO, or go to another company. The only issue I have with the actual phone is the battery life. If I put this thing on Wimax(cause 3g in my area is no better than dial-up), it drains like crazy. November cannot come soon enough.
I always pass my old tech to friends or coworkers. Just seems the thing to do with it

Nope, if you go to the right store, you might find one official case that's over priced.
