[Q] (Q) SMS Limit (3) and Downloading from the browser

Hi Guys
Need some advice if that is okay, is anybody else experiencing an SMS Limit? I can write up to three sms then it converts it to MMS which is very annoying because before (desire), i could write 7 or more.
I did search and know there is mod but is there another way, as in, an option?
Im on orange and am using lite'ning rom 1.5
My second question is that any time i try to download anything within the browser (file, apk, video, etc) it always fails. No matter what.
I'm really confused and have looked in the settings but its puzzling me.
If anybody could shed some light, that would be great
Thanks guys
Ash
Can't help with the sms question, sorry. As for the rest, the stock downloader only allows certain types of files to be downloaded, go find the "download all files" app on the market and that will solve that issue

Thanks mate, i tried the app but still can't download some stuff. But its definitely a lot better than before.
Is it just me who is encountering this problem? Thought this may be a standard thing on the SGS2?
yeah!! the sms limit is definately a problem.. Any Kind souls can guide us how to reslove this sms limit??

[Q] spyware/adware on my wife's phone?

hey guys.
my wife's been mentioning that she's got an app saying she's got a missed call. it's not a system notification. it's got a orange/white star on the notification pulldown. when you click on it nothing happens.
today that same star (and i'm assuming same app) said "See who's spying on your profile!"...when I clicked on it, it opened a spam site (it was blocked by my ad blocker software).
I can't pinpoint any specific application that is obviously doing it.
anyone else heard of this or experience this? we both have the same rom and settings, difference are in our individual apps that we've downloaded.
please give me some help on how to figure this out! thanks.
I've not had this happen to me, but i've read some other posts about it.
It's something called "AirPush" i think.
You can download "AirPush Detector" off the market for free, and it can basicly tell you which apps are doing it (it can't remove it, but simply tell you what is doing it), and then you can remove them by yourself if you want to.
awesome thanks. that did it.
it was Root App Remover...which ironically I installed for her
all gone now.
thanks again!

Me either as far as I know your not meant to get any either?
Have you added an app as an accessibility service? Maybe Lightflow or Tasker? You can either remove those apps as accessibility services or you could use another launcher. This is a known bug which doesn't really have a perfect solution yet.

I had the same issue yesterday and i solved it
At first i thought it was driving mode(since that reads out things while you drive) then i checked accessibility settings and i disabled talk back(i think).....but that still didnt work.
Found out its lightflow....Has something to do with the app.I think you can disable it but i just removed the app completely and the voices stop
I'm still waiting for my s3 so can't check whether that does the trick or not but the developer of Missed It! said to check that both Talkback and Install Web Script (both in Accessibility settings) are set to off

I've had this problem too and I don't have Lightflow installed. For me, the solution was to go to Settings, Accessibility and under Services turn off 'Addons Detector' which I had installed.
So, perhaps it's anything installed in the Services section causes the problem. A bug perhaps?

[Q] Carrier Blank

Hey guys,
Figured I'd ask again as this thread never received a reply: It seems in the play store the 'carrier' section of is blank. I'm currently running MDK with CM 10.2 and I suspect a build.prop issues, but was wondering if anyone had experienced this before. It seems to impact Google Device Manager's ability to hit the phone and my ability to install Isis (among other things).
Any help is greatly appreciated.

Still can't figure out why this is happening, I diffed my build.prop against a Sprint version and everything seems in order. Is there anything else that might be restricting my ability to install Verizon-specific apps in the play store?

Hey, what rom are you using? I was able to get the play store to give me the option of mobile billing by changing "ro.com.google.clientidbase=android-google" to "ro.com.google.clientidbase=android-verizon"
The problem is that it only works temporarily and the option goes away again later. I have found that if I edit any line in buid.prop, even one that doesn't matter, then the option will reappear in play store for mobile billing.
It's a very strange circumstance. I have been looking for a fix to this for a while.
Take care.

[Q] What's this?

Hey folks. I've been playing around quite a bit configuring my phone after the new 4.2.2 /sense 5 update. I use an app called Watchdog to monitor apps/processes to see what's going on, and I've noticed a process called com.htc.launcher.fakescreen running in the background, and I was wondering if anyone knows what that is?

Yeah, I got that as well. It's probably a process that loads up when you use a 3rd party launcher.
I think maybe this process takes screenshots of running apps and uses them for the app switcher / task manger thingy lol
