Can we keep any hopes?
Sent from my HUAWEI MediaPad using XDA Premium HD app
Technologically speaking, I don't see why not. Jelly Bean isn't technically a full version bump so it shouldn't require any more of a demand on the hardware than what we currently have.
i'm no developer but Jelly Bean is just en incremental update, the Mediapad can run it perfectly.
i'll keep an eye on huawei's firmwares page

anyway we can get jelly bean on MP?
we can get at least port (with ICS kernel)
Indeed. But our biggest chance probably is a cm port.
Sorry for asking but
what is a cm port. I know huawei have an ics download available. And jellybean is just a later edition of the current kernel with some neat tricky bits but I don't know what a cm port is. As huawei have ics as a legal download I probably won't root the phone until it runs out of warranty. How much quicker is jb than ics?
cheers

The question is not only the speed - the Project Butter is one of the advantages though - but there are some other benefits of Jelly Bean.
JB looks the first android version which I would like to try in everyday use.
I'd say "cm port" is referring to Cyanogen Mod port, being a custom rom built by Cyanogen that they make for many devices.
The speed difference in every day use wouldn't be much, probably not worth the heartache IMO.

If you dont kw wat CM, you are seriously lacking something brother. May be U r new to android. I was also ona confused state as u after i bought my Wildfire and came to that forum after using Windows Mobile for over 5 years on my XDA2 and Diamond. Search for Cyanogen Mod here or on wikipedia.
JB is not just about speed. Its all about the buttery smoothness on transitions and animations. I saw some benchmarks on Youtube that JB lags behind ICS on speed.

Jelly Bean will be a tablet OS like Honeycomb :/
Like, for honeycomb they shifted to Motorola [XOOM], for this too, i dont think Samsung's gonna be ''the one'', still no updte on that.
It will basically run on tablets AND PC's. Dual Boot being the main feature; AndroidOS and Chrome OS. So expect it to be running on really powerful tabs/PC's/maybe even quadcore phones.

Nothing for our small & cool X10 Mini?
We dint even get froyo officially, lol. If Google releases jelly beans code, maybe the devs wwill make a rom for us. But Google did not release source codes for honeycomb (not until ics's code was released) so they might not release it for jelly bean, too.

In a month, members will be posting they need jelly beans to eat and spam will be flooding the forum.
before something like that happens, stickie a notice. (mods, admin).
well, jb seems far from our phones, kinda like honeycomb.
Wow, so fast!
But i think right now i am more than happy to be waiting out for a final ICS rom. The current paul-xxx rom on cm9 running ICS is really smooth, i think the final version of that rom is gonna be legendary.
Really exciting times on android as well as for the mini pro users too !!
too fast, problably as said here is for tablet and not for smartphone, that why in 2Q
It was the same with 2.3 an 3.0 there were just 3 monzh between them
And ICS was supposed to merge tablets and smartphones...
woaa its too fast

Google release ICS, the problem are manufactured OEM that are not able to personalize ICS for all the hardware, in your case Sony.
We have only 2 possibility:
Wait OEM update and need some time, and is not secure your phone is updated
Use a custom rom via XDA
I really dont like thif fu***** ics and will hate jelly bean
Sent from my U20i using XDA
If it can be modded to minis and bring benefits, why not try?
However I think that's too little time between the android's OS. And that restriction from OEMs, Sony in my case, almost made me regret having bought my mini, thank God XDA exists!
The host for jellybean is HTC and google..i think

The rumour is that we get ICS in August 2012 or 15 months after official Google announcement. So if there is a chance to get JB, add another 15 months to the official Google announcement (is gonna happen in few days) and you have the Samsung release date of September 2013.

Afaik the driver model has not changed from Android 1.0 to 4.0, it's still all linux. 5 years old linux drivers work on new systems.

This is because Samsung refuses to release the source code for the camera driver, so you cannot compile it with an alternate kernel. The driver would work for ICS if we had the source code.
Jb has been ripped already according to reports, so we shall see
Are you f'ing kidding me? I knew as soon as I saw the Google io release about jelly bean everyone would start asking this question.
A) how bout waiting for ICS first, then worry about an official update from 4 to 4.1.
B) According to Google it won't be much different, you can do all that 4.1 does with a launcher or a ROM
C). 4.1 will be an easier transition to accomplish whereas 3.5 to 4.0 is a harder undertaking thus the long wait.
D). With the injunction placed on the 10.1 in CA there will be no more galaxy tabs 10.1 for sale in the US anyway assuming Samsung doesn't win an appeal.
E). Its time to upgrade to a new tablet soon, ASUS has some amazing stuff and they are QUAD CORE! Compared to our two.
F). Once we get our cameras working on official ICS who cares anymore??? We will never get 5.0 officially so for me my tab ends at official ICS . CM9 is good now..cm10, cm 11 will suit your needs just the same.....
I am very sure we are gonna get jelly bean on our tab since the drivers for jelly bean and ice cream sandwich are the same, so Samsung only has to do very small things to get jelly bean to our tab. The reason why its taking so long for ice cream sandwich to come to our galaxy tab is that ics is a major revision and lots of drivers need to be updated.

The drivers are the same for Gingerbread, Honeycomb and ICS. There is no new driver model. These are all Linux drivers and the driver model does not change. Since Samsung has not released the Source Code for the Camera driver, and this Camera is not used for any other Tablet there is no Cyanogen camera support for the 10.1 tab.
The only reason there is no official ICS for Galaxy Tab 1 is the presence of Galaxy Tab 2 (with almost identical hardware, but a different camera), which has ICS. Samsung hopes to make some more money on users who don't want to wait and ditch the Tab 1 for the Tab 2.
Sammy will indeed update the tab to jelly bean in the year 2016, stand-by for further announcements. :highfive:
Guys this is Samsung's first flagship tablet....so Sammy 'll lose its already bad update release status completely if it lets down our tab.
With nexus tab given to azus Sammy 's got one less tablet to code for.
" THEN WHY THE F'kin HELL DOES SAMSUNG HOLD BACK UPDATES?????"
Damn frustated man.....

Guys, Bad News and Good News
Android 4.2 ain't Key Lime Pie, it's just an upgraded version of Jelly Bean, hence, still Jelly Bean, we won't get any official Rom, I mean come'on how much do you think a 1GHz Processor and 512 MB ram' Phone handle? Even ICS was a struggle.
Good News is, it's an Upgraded Version of Jelly Bean, so CM probably will Re-Base their Rom to 4.2, same thing applied to PA, AOKP.

Have you used ICS on a Ray? It runs perfectly well on mine, the problem is not the processor or Ram but the amount of resource hogging bloatware **** that Sony fill phones with ... Get rid of all the crap and the phone handles ICS just fine, it's annoying to hear this old story about the Ray not being powerful enough to run JB etc, yet somehow the V is? Don't believe it just because Sony tell you it.

Stop asking.
The 2011 smartphones can perfectly handle JB because they handle ICS.
JB is lighter than ICS.
Sony is just lasy to make the drivers for JB
Perhaps Sony want to focus on its 2012 models. But I sastify ICS with some mods
i think the answer is no.. our ray will not get stock 4.1/4.2 ROM
sony will not support xperia 2011 anymore, from now sony will focus upgrade on xperia 2012
but overall sony did great on upgraded than other brand..
BTW, if you want to keep get android upgrade, next time when buy a phone, consider to buy "google nexus" phone ..

you are right bro...but even JB isnt fully functional on our devices...and compare it to GB...i have downgraded to GB and loving it.
JB will perform at its full majesty only if sony provide the devs its latest kernel sources for JB...and that seems difficult to me.
for now...JB seems only a small upgrade in performance to cm9...thats my view...others' might differ.
Look how bad Android 4.2 is. Even custom ROM developers make ROMs with less bugs.
http://www.reddit.com/r/Android/comments/13e9qb/can_we_get_google_to_fix_the_android_42/
http://www.reddit.com/r/Android/comments/13d8ed/google_cancels_december_in_android_42/c72wv35
4.2 was rushed.
Lock screen widgets feel like beta ware at best. The clock app, despite the welcome additions of the timer and stopwatch, does not follow standard UI guidelines and looks totally out of place. The quick settings tiles should just be conventional toggles, and the 'Me' tile is useless on phones where you can't switch profiles. Now this? It's a minor oversight, but this is not the Android we have come to know since ICS. This is not up to Google's standards.
They should have just shipped the gesture keyboard, group messaging, camera updates and Gmail pinch to zoom. I have half a mind to downgrade to 4.1 and just use flash-able zips to give myself that experience.

too difficult too see android 4.4 for our device.. there are 4.2 and 4.3 before kitkat and they are still not here as an android version rom..
but not sure
i believe the most active developer of most of the kernel and rom is no longer that active. while it is good to see kitkat on our mini phone i highly doubt it would even be possible. if its possible you might be looking at a very slow phone due technical constraints of using the updated os
But we can use jellybean.

don't think so... the problem is always drivers, and the low specs... let's face it... we love this little device, but is too old.
Hey Guys, Lets Ask nAa To Develop MiniCM Kitkat(4.4) For Our Tiny E10i and U20i...
It would be cool since they say KitKat use less memory, but I guess drivers are hard to find for this tiny device.
Kitkat actually using a RAM compression, like KSM, compcache (a.k.a zRAM), JIT and this is already in CM7 era, before Kitkat
For more info:
http://www.androidpolice.com/2013/1...rt-to-devices-with-as-little-as-512mb-of-ram/
Also, this is need a big and fast cpu cycle, so IF your device can handle @ 1Ghz it's not even enough, because ARMv6 (65nm) vs latest ARMv7 (45nm, 28nm on A-15)
And Google already leaving ARMv6 for Android support and for developing Kitkat, we need to hack many System in Android to working in our chipset
I'm happy, because we can run 4.1.2 on X10 Mini
But, for Kitkat, I think we must buy a new device
=)
