ICS Lock screen Question - Motorola Droid RAZR

I just factory reset my Maxx with the hope that the battery life would go back to the long life it had prior to the ICS update. I'm using a 3rd party camera apk and I'd like to set it as my default lock screen camera app. I did this on Saturday but I have forgotten how. Thanks

Try disabling the stock camera app.

Great call out. I disabled the stock text messaging app and low and behold, GoSMS is now on the lock screen.

If you have root just change apk to bak, also I had to set my handcent to default for mms and sms

The easiest way to change Lock Screen defaults,...
Get the free app "Default App Manager".
I personally hate the stock camera on the Razr Maxx because it sucks, so I changed the Default to Camera360 (btw, if you haven't tried this app your missing out, nice clean photos everytime, with more detail).
Changing the Default app, changes the lock screen Default as well.

I tried this approach and cant seem to get the 3rd party cam app to sit on the lock screen. The stock app is still on the lock screen. I have made my 3rd party app my default cam app.

Kinda frustrating I've been hoping for a solution to this since the OTA and i don't want to root it.

I'm 100% stock, I don't want to root either. Haven't rooted a phone since my Droid Incredible.
If possible I want to stay completely stock. Something on a phone has to bother me pretty bad for me to root.

[Q] Camera in portrait?

Hi, I just got a RAZR today, my friend Cody bought me one because I gave him a ride to go see Chronicle, and I love it so far.
The only problem is, when using the camera, it sticks in landscape.
I find that pretty annoying, because with AOSP/MIUI cameras, I mostly use it in portrait.
Does anyone know how to get it to change to portrait????
Thanks!
To clarify, whats in portrait? The camera app or the gallery after u take the pics? The camera is in the same position regardless of orientation.
You can try checking your screen orientation toggle if its the gallery your referring to after you take the pics
Sent from my DROID RAZR using XDA App
Mine does it too. Either you can install a different camera app or live with it. The reason it does it is so that you have access to the different settings.

Handcent app

Hey guys, quick question. When I turn off notifications in the stock text messaging, I don't get audio notifications in Handcent app, only visual notifications. Is there a setting I'm missing that will allow the notifications only in Handcent?

Have u frozen any apps and is it only handcent
Haven't asked the developers. Thought I would post in case anyone else was having the issue. No, I haven't frozen anything and I'm not sure what you mean by "only handcent".
Sent from my DROID RAZR using Tapatalk 2
In HandCent, under "settings," "notification settings," "notification sound," make sure you don't have it set to silent. Use the "test notification" button to make sure it's working, and your phone volume is up.
Also, forget which setting, but enabling "group threading" gathers group message replies into a single thread (like an iPhones group messaging)- an added bonus i came across that's pretty nice.
Sent from my DROID RAZR using Tapatalk 2
Think I found it. Under Handcent settings/ application settings, there is an option to set it as the default engine and disable the stock messaging. Sounds like that was what I was looking for. We'll see.
Sent from my DROID RAZR using Tapatalk 2
I literally just set this up on mine. Turn off notifications in the stock app...and by default handcent will notify you both visually (through quick reply) and audibly. If in handcent your notifications are activated properly (which is pretty easy to figure out) make sure your phone isn't just on silent under settings. Sounds silly but it happens to the best of us. I never had to modify the setting you mentioned in your last post.
Sent from my DROID RAZR using XDA
Thanks.I'm pretty sure I had all that correct before and I wasn't getting the audible alerts. If the way I have it now doesn't work, I'll go back and try all that again.

ICS bugs!!!!

post them here and what version u have phone/software
x912 verizon / rooted ICS .211
when using the keyboard in the text app the keyboard stops vibrating after a couple key presses.....works at first....i think this feature is called tactile feedback
.211
Using a diff launcher (apex and nova) the widget menu (home screen long pressed) is unreadable.
The vibe/silence option on the lock screen will get changed depending on the last option used-not sure if bug
Annoying keyboard options in the notification tray whenever the keyboard is up.

Where specifically in the L&I menu is the notification option. I'm using swiftkey and don't see anything about that notification.
Sorry, it looks like I was mistaken, I was going to go right in and take a screen shot, but searched five minutes and couldn't find it.
Battery life is bad and Gps doesnt lock on fast.

Keyboard notification is not a bug. It was present on the HTC OneX running 4.0.4 as well as the GS2 running 4.0.3. Its a "feature". I also dont like it.
Great. I didn't even notice the KB notification until this thread. Now it's annoying the hell out of me.
keyboard notification is a quicker way to switch languages (like if you are typing in spanglish)
only bug ive found was the lack of a 4G toggle.

Definite Bug: people whining for ICS ASAP, then whining that available ICS is not their idea of perfect.
Workaround: Settings->Whine Mode->Disable
I'm done whining. Carry on.

[Q] How to make home screen rotate without apps?

Hi there, I was wondering if there is any way to make the Blur home screen rotate without having to instal any third party apps.
Can someone help?
Basically, I wanted to make everything rotate to landscape, homescreen, phone, contacts, since some of those don't rotate unless you force it with third party apps.
Thanks in advance!
Does 3rd party apps also cover Nova Launcher? On settings I can get all screens to rotate.
From RAZR by Tapatalk
Maybe some dev could port some system apps from droid 4, as the actual screen resolution and hardware is more or less the same

Pretty sure you can edit your build.prop to do this...could be wrong.

Found another app, the best one so far. I guess that the file we need should be in that app, but since I'm not a dev, i don't dare to try it.
The app is called Set Orientation, and it allows you to force auto orientation even on those apps that don't rotate, like homescreen and dialer.
The best of all, it's a free app.

[Q] Emoji's?

Is there a way to send Emoji's with the stock messaging app? Maybe I am just totally looking over something but I don't see it anywhere. I know I can see them when other people send them to me. Well they have a "Android-like" skin to them but they are still there. In stock Android I know you can use them for 4.0 and above.
My wife did some research, could not find a way to use those on Android.

Oh you can definitely use them on Android. If you run stock Android and it's 4.0 and above, it is built into the native messaging app. If you don't have stock or 4.0 and above, you can download a messaging app like Handcent and you can use them that way. They are definitely ways to use them. I just want to know if there is a way to use them in the native messaging app in Sense

Oh I didn't even see those. I've been using swiftkey. They aren't exactly like regular emoji's but they are I guess. The real set of emoji's has a lot more of them too. I guess that's better than nothing though
