And btw i dont like oxygen no theming

i suggest you to use gingersnap from neko its good and stable and the battery backup is very good

Try all ROMs by yourself.... you' ve just broken a forum rule: Do not ask for the best ROM.
Love Tyn!

I charged my phone last night and now only 48 % remaining...
I don't used my phone today, all applications were closed, I use taskmanagers, Adrenaline Boost and many more, but only little changes.

For those who have sharp eyes may find your battery life decreased. WHY?
Adrenaline Boost clear your system cache and your cpu will work harder to build back needed cache.
Some have reported to me that the Opera browser crash after boost when open over 3 tabs.
You system need caches to work , this boost is intended to clear old cache that are no longer using and let the system to build new cache, so if u boost it too often , your cpu will be very busy building needed caches and may consume more battery than normal !
Boost it only when it's needed then there will be no problem !

No rom can help you. If you use whatsapp your phone never sleep at all, every 10 or 15 minutes your phone will awake for checking new message... see battery status.

Problems with battery drain... =s

hi guys,
i'm having some problems with the battery life of my LG P500 (with CM7 + Kernel v18.1).
i installed this custom rom because some people told me that it has the best perfomance. But what I see now is a bad battery drain...
what I have to do? Change the CM? The Kernel? Or what?
unfortunately, i accidentally deleted the backup file...
thanks!
After you install a custom rom you need to first wipe your battery stats from your recovery then you can also use battery calibration app also you need to give your phone some time to get used to the performance for the battery life to be accurate you can see this warning in a few roms and in francos kernel thread the performance is better and the battery life is better to issue also suggest turning off your 3g when not using it if you have a 2.3 rom then you can go to cyanogen mod settings if it has it and add it to your notification buttons my battery on medium to heavy use will last 24-36 hours where with stock rom maybe 10

thanks, man! =D
well, i don't use 3G... i keep this turned off. ;D
so, this is the only thing that i can do? Wipe battery stats?
i did this right now... let see...
There's not much you can do that has actual effect on the battery life. Keep wifi & 3G off when u don't use them is usually the first advice. Unfortunately overclocking means that your battery will drain out very fast. Mine's on charge via USB-cable most of the day, and using wifi or playing games for 40 mins means at least -20% battery power.
i know about wifi and 3g... ;D
and what about custom roms and kernel? my cobination could be a problem? =\

CM7 (6.5.5) comes with franco's kernel, and as far as I know, that's the best one at the moment, so I don't think that is the problem either. it's just how this ROM is ... you're not the only one with the same problem lol
how many things are you running in the background?
I've had issues with a couple programs eating cpu in the background.
oh and brightness makes a large difference.
if you have missed message flasher running by either flashing the screen or vibration's that will also drain the battery fast.

if maps is running that is what is killing your battery .
if you want maps
get titanium backup and backup (or if you have paid freeze) the app and restore/unfreeze when you want to use it.
Yes Maps can drain the battery a lot lol
ps. you can see what is using your battery if you goto
settings ----> about ---> battery use
Lucky you can turn off 3g I'm on a provider that won't work unless I have it enabled -_- lol
My main reason for flashing a custom ROM is the ability to change permissions for each app that has been merged into CM and is part of mik's port. That combined with droidwall is a very important tool to battle the privacy violations with so many apps. That means that I didn't overclock, but I still saw an incredible battery drain on 6.5.5 + 18.1. Plus I was getting a weird log error with droidwall. I appreciate all the efforts on behalf of the developers, and I really hope to get a stable rom that would let me modify permissions of all apps with good battery life. Everything else is secondary.

Google maps will not drain battery until u have data enabled, same applies for other processes running in background.
And overclocking also doesnt drain battery faster as said on franko tweaks page.
(Correct me if i am wrong)

False, read this about overclocking and battery, analyze the chart
And with google maps plus other similar apps running in the background, it will try to connect and find a connection therefore draining battery.
processes that only run in mine are:
google services (1process, google messaging service)
android keyboard ( dont tell me u dont know that )
pretty much those are necessary for your phone to be functional.

I got OC info from this page.
And abt maps,i have stated that it will not consume battery when data is NOT enabled.
Anyways thanks for those charts.
But as per my personal experience,OC doesnt drain battery faster
Use v18 CFS, not v18.1 .. i had the later and the battery drain was huge. Switch to 18, charge to 100%, wipe battery stats, use until completely discharged then charge again and see if that helps. OFC not even v18 can compete with the stock (or even mik's kernel) in terms of battery life, but if you want performance...
For me the best option was mik CM 6.5.5 and fk v17 cfs!! Definitely feels stable all the time!!
thank you, guys!
well... i really made a little mistake... the battery life improves with the fkv18 cfs. isn't a awful improvement, but is something.... =D
should i change to v17? =s
how i can see, CM 6.5.5 is the best option...
thanks!

Hm, i thought devs like andy and a couple other devs mentioned it before that g-maps & other similar apps will consume a %tage of batt. It's similar to bgsyncs. You can see for urself and log then block it with droidwall.
let's say:
you got every connection off (wifi, 3g off, only 2g for messages/sms otherwise none) > g-maps running > it will TRY to FIND a connection at a specific interval e.g. ~20min. > therefore consuming resources. I dunno about the latest versions of google trashes though (maps got offline support)
About oc'ing, yeah 122-480ish consumes the same BUT not if your phone is demanding more cpu to complete tasks, i.e @ 122 clocked it completes the tasks at a longer time than 320 wc is fast, just balance it if you are gaming or just using it for web browsing/sms/calls/music/minimal gaming like me( ~2.5 days atm im on 320/729 v18 bfs smartass & it's good enough).IIRC franco told this on his earlier pages on the kernel topic

Correct me if I'm wrong but for a 2.3.4 rom shouldn't you be using the BFS version of Franco Kernel? I believe that CFS is for Froyo roms (at least that's what Franco himself told me on a post a few weeks ago)

ok so i am on ginger 2.3.3 with a day one x10a baceband 71 rooted with Custom boot loader so i can literally do anything except gain more battery life. i have tried ATK in the past and ditched it for Battery doctor cause i found when you charge with battery doctor i get about 6 more hours out of my phone. ad that to my 1800mAh battery from mugen power and i'm getting about 12 more hours then i did when i got the dang thing. killing tasks all the time deferentially helps. all in all i get about 24 hours...
what i'd really like is a custom rom that is Ginger that's whole point is battery life... i'd really like to forget to plug my phone in and not panic in the morning cause i'm at 10%
i have looked though allot of roms but can't seem to find anything with all the battery eating junk ripped out it seems most of them are putting more junk in
Are there any good LITE roms out there?

Did you check my screen shot regarding with battery life
try team rom it has decent battery life and is very fast and responsive
Sound to me more like it your habit rather than ROM/Hardware .
I wound't begin the debate here about ATK, but since your post doesn't provide any technical info. Let's try this..
> Seriously, stop using ATK.. it would just HIDE the real problems.
> Remove all unnecessary widget... clock, time, weather, photo, blah blah
> Wait for a few hour, is it significantly better?
> Remove some background-apps; viber, whatsapp, skype, trillion, imo, msg, brb, blah, blah, blah
> Wait for a few hour, is it better?
Well, it should... (definately )
Some geeks down here... skip it if you're lazy.
Actually, you will need to understand something that it's not really about ROM.
Most custom ROM provide you some 'minfree' tweak. Let's make it simple.
Case 1, minfree is 60MB (most custom ROMs)
> droid will just fill the memory with lots of apps till RAM is 60MB.
> droid will start killing the task aggressively when RAM is below 60MB.
Case 2, same thing with 30MB (Stock ROM)
> droid will just fill the memory with lots of apps till RAM is 30MB.
> droid will start killing the task aggressively when RAM is below 30MB.
So, using ATK means....you shot everything to pieces, and droid just recovers it back..
or.............................you and droid trying to shot everything down.....
doesn't sound useful.. does it?
ATK is then.. useless.. unless there are some legacy no brainer app eating CPU and tell droid that 'I'm busy doing my (stupid) job, go away and don't kill me'.
Alright, that's NOT the point about ATK.
My point is, if you having too much apps, beyond 'minfree' level, there is no way you can save the battery whether using ATK or droid itself.... ATK just hide it, and make it worse.
This is why most people get a decent battery life with stock, since it provides lowest minfree level (around simple 30MB), with a cost of system performance, which is one of the reason that stock one is the slowest one.
So, what you need to do is to adjust number of your running apps, close to the minfree level.
Or adjust the minfree level (autokiller memory optimizer?) to match your current usage.
So, all in all, if you're using custom ROMs, stop using ATK, uninstall any stupid apps till free memory is running around 60-80MB. This will give you 'optimal' (not best) battery life.
384MB is not decent enough for X10 to become a multitasking speedy beauty with decent battery life.

Try installing JuceDefender from the market. If after trying it for awhile you find an extreme difference in battery life then your problem is probably with one of your apps accessing Wifi / Wireless data all the time.
Another thing that could be causing it is if you're in a very low signal area. Where I used to work, I was lucky to get 12 hours out of my phone. Right now, it's been off the charger for 11.5 hrs and I'm down to 82%. In this case shutting of wifi and wireless data will help.
Sorry I can't offer any more suggestions. Good luck man.
I use battery Dr. for killing tasks as it helps by doing calibration charges when you charge your phone from under 20%. So I get more battery life than I did with juice defender
Also I get full bars on an hsps network at both home and work

I agree, I use JiuceDefender and if you take the time to set all the profiles it will help alot. Service area signal is also a key to battery life. Also try Battery Calibration App from the market, it will reset your battery stats. Make sure and leave the app open untill battery charges to 100%. Then let battery go till phone shuts down and charge again to 100%, That has been the best fix for me, plus Wolfberak's 2.3 rom's.
Ya using wolf note and I'm liking it.it's giving me my 3 days so I'm good.... I'd like to point out that juice defender as a few cool features but battery doctor seems to work better it has full cycle charging built in as well

Cyanogenmod 9 Battery Drain

Hello guys. I have installed cyanogenmod9 with Siyah kernel on my galaxy s2 and I already got one problem. The battery drains very fast.. I got no 3g/wifi/gps/bluetooth activated, no live wallpapers, just 3 homescreens with minimum of widgets, no applications running in background and I set the max freq for the cpu to be 1000MHZ.. And it still drains very fast..
These are the exactly files i got on my phone:
Siyah-v3.0rc1-CWM
cm-9-20120330-ODIN-galaxys2.tar
Could you please help me fix this?
Cheers!
Install BetterBatteryStats, let the phone run for 8-10 hours (use it normally or let it run overnight; whenever you're seeing the drain basically). Then have a look at the BetterBatteryStats thread on here.
This will enable you to pin down any wakelocks which are chewing thru your CPU (If it is indeed wakelocks causing the drain). If necessary, you might be able to post some screenshots/info to that thread & maybe the guys who post there regularly can give you some help with it.
Edit to add - For starters, personally speaking, I'd update to the latest CM9 nightly while you're at it (09/04). They're always making little improvements/changes.
thank you very much! i have installed that program, now I will do how you said and then I will post some screenshots in the thread. Thanks!
No probs If you find you do have wakelocks/post to the BBS thread & you don't get a response after a day or so, post the details here & I'm sure people will be able to help.

I would strongly suggest using Siyah v3.0.1Beta1
http://www.gokhanmoral.com/gm/
and dont usee that build of CM9 as that is the Resurrection edition. Download the latest CM9 from here:
http://download.cyanogenmod.com/?device=galaxys2
0904 is the latest.
make sure your wipe cache and dalvik cache.
put on cm9 first, then Siyah, then wipe, reboot.

u cant compare it immediately...
please go ahead with a calibration of the batt and after recharging once/twice compare the battery usage with ur current bad usage
make sure u cancel the useless options that suck up the battery, there's a thread regarding this as well, it helps trust me...
Which is exactly why I gave you a simple (possible) solution in the first instance.
Which you were obviously too impatient to try given it involved installing an app, letting it run for half a day or so then reading a thread on here/posting some info to that thread to get some answers.
Installing a new rom was overkill. If you weren't prepared to go down the BBS path with your existing setup, you only needed to flash the latest CM9 nightly, do a clear cache/Dalvik & again let it go for a day or so to see if that fixed things. And then you could have done the BBS thing with the latest CM9 nightly installed if necessary.
believe me i didnt want to install a second rom.. i just wanted to replace the old one..
i will do the thing with batterystats and then i will revive this thread and tell you the "news".
Thanks for everything.
no wakelock overnight. the battery dropped just 1 percent.. i am using it for 20 mins. 3 sms, 3 mins of talking and 3 mins of wireless. in 20 mins the battery dropped from 99 to 95 now.
OK looks normal/ similar to my usage in that amount of time... keep on testing, good luck

Are you talking about some kind of notification when you receive a message? This phone doesn't have a notification LED. So you need either BLN + a kernel that supports it, or install the NoLED app. Either one will affect your battery performance though.
When you receive a message, on every phone, the screen wakes up. Mine doesnt, do you understand what i am saying?

Battery Drain Question!!

I have been Using my SGS2 on cm7 since the day i bought it some days back.. The thing is i dont get good battery life. Battery Monitor Widget Pro shows -10mA to -90mA and sometimes upto -150mA drain in stand by. Last night i lost 13% in 8 hours. I recharged it to 100% the battery drain was about -2mA for 4-5 hours then suddenly it increased to 50mA and now its -91mA since 2 hours continously. I am on Siyah Kernel. Smartassv2 kernel. Cpu underclocked to 1ghz. i Also have autokiller. brightness to lowest. And manually kill apps. I got the phone coz the my old iphone was not lasting a day but it did last 5-6 hours of screen on time. SGS2 doesnt give me over 3 hours of screen on time. NO WIFI. Just 2g data. Whatsapp every 10min. 4-5 min gaming a hour.

Try pulling your battery out, leaving it 30s and putting it back in, I know that has helped some people get rid of some pretty annoying wakelocks(if wake locks are you problem), it has worked for me in the past

Do you flash with CWM?
It's much easier, yeah with moderate usage I could get 1.5/2 days battery life with stock battery It's a very good ROM, although the MIUI team have stopped developing due to the development of MIUI V4

basicaly all MIUI roms are same, some developers in XDA are just ported with some tweeks and modifications.
some of them are:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1352386
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1502664
The country of Origin of the MIUI is China and released in Chinese language, but there are variouse fan sites who translate the ROM into their language and port with great support. www.miuiandroid.com is famouse among them in english language.
I am currently using MIUI GB ROM and really enjoying it
check it out
i flashed ressurection rom ics. i got 3% drain in 7 hours overnight which is quite good but now again loosing -57mA in standby ie around 3 or so %/h... BetterBatterystats under partial wakelocks shows AudioOut_1 for 3m 17s , RILJ for 1m 9s and few other things ..Kernel Wakelock is (0s)Cntc/wc/ec/)1/1/1 100%.

jje means to say thire r millions of posts on batt prblm y r u starting another wivout reading the already posted prblms ......anyways go thru the the batt drain(find in search)cause ull get an idea were ur wrong....i dont think cm9 gives good batt life but depends on wat no of apps u got..try the stock gb first..an there is no garanty tht the uv,oc or tweaks give u a marvelous batt life.....cheeeerz
so i went back to stock rom. Wiped out the storage. Reseted the phone. Installed nothing. Still i get -57mA battery drain that is almost 5-6% per hour in standby. I have searched like anything. I just cant seem to find anything. My android os usage is 70%. And the battery info shows phone awake for maximum time. i even undervolted on siyah kernel. Didnot use data at all but it shows no difference. Stock,Miui,Resurrection,cm7 no difference. I simply cant get over 4 hours of screen time and phone looses 20-25% over night with data disabled and no apps installed. Am seriously loosing faith on android.

The android os high battery usage could not be a problem though.. I think that if you keep your screen on for sometime, the screen on time will go to the first place.. and I suggest you to try ParanoidAndroid Jelly Bean

first of all it should be spelled "serious"
and now if you are coming from a different OS like symbian or ios then here is the hard truth all android phones pretty much have comparatively(to symbian) low battery....
and give it some time,a few battery cycles will improve battery life...
ps:i am on stock 4.0.3 rom my s2 only lasts 1.5 days max only if i don't play games.....

so you are facing problems only after factory reset??
did you install any particular app, maybe that is causing the drain...
i would suggest to do a factory reset once more and check without installing any app the battery life
TouchWiz gives high battery drain compared to custom ROM's, probably due to the bloatware.
I will never use TouchWiz on an android/galaxy phone, I will always use custom ROMS

Generally most people will agree that Resurrection Remix is a very good ROM for battery. But most ROM s that d not use the touch wiz is probably better.

Really? That is so much good news to hear, Can any one tell me what should i do after flashing new firmware in my s2 , Some peoples saying dont delete battery stats files its cause some fuel alert wakelocks and some are saying only deleting battery stats files can give you correct reading actually i was thinking that the cause of android Os high battery usage will be the incorrect reading of battery what you say ?

Incorrect.
ONE complete battery cycle will re calibrate the fuel gauge chip. Once when i cycled my battery it stuck on 1% for over 4 hours. It does NOT give you longer battery life, rather it re calibrates the battery indicator.
OP if you want better battery life try this:
Use a custom rom, or a frankenrom if you like the stock feel, or a rom modded for better battery life
Look into what services are running and remove the ones that are running when not expected
remove the facebook app,
use less widgets (since they use more battery),
choose a darker background (AMOLED screens use the most power for white),
turn down the brightness,
have GPS, WiFi, and Bluetooth off when not needed,
turn off auto updates,
anything that automatically checks for stuff, turn that off or increase the delay,
Use a kernel that supports under-volting and under-clocking. You have a powerful phone which rarely needs to use all the power. Under-volting and under-clocking can help you get even several hours longer out of your device without a noticeable impact
Turn off those damn task killers. Its more efficient to not have a task running than to close it every 5 minutes and have it auto start up again. task killers were great for android 1.3, not so great for 4.0
In my class there is one other guy with an S2 and every day i hear his battery beep at him that its dying. I can go about 2 days of similar usage with no battery problems. Why? Because i spent time and effort to learn why my battery was draining and how to make my device run as smooth as i can.
TLR Do some research. If you want everything given to you buy an iPhone.

Brother i am suffering from a very sereus problem i dont know my android system and android os battery usage goes to high i celibrate my battery many times but its not working for me
zain, dont fret yourself over the battery backup duration. With frequent usage, you will have to charge twice a day at the most. Your battery will still last 2 years.
