Hello,
I wanted to share the modified CM9 framework-res.apk which will enable the on screen navigation buttons. Works fine on my CM9 SGS2 04/27 nightly.
Might be a help to users with faulty home buttons, or those who wants a different look. I am planning to modify the layout a bit as per the thread by evilisto in Q & A section.
Just thought will post this in case someone finds this useful.

So this gives us the on screen buttons like the nexus?
Will it work on Omega v11.1?
Cheers

There's a link to instructions right in the OP of the ROM. If you can't read even the whole OP, you shouldn't be flashing.

Already tried that and it didn't work...the pointer is still on when ever I use my s-pen
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I717 using xda app-developers app
My bad then, something must have changed. You're probably out of luck for now
Wait, did you reboot after trying that?
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I717 using Tapatalk 2
Yeah I rebooted ...and the pointer is still there.

I just flashed the rom to check it out and it worked just fine for me, so you did something wrong.
Use root explore to go to system/usr/idc then open the sec_e-pen.idc file with text editor, then replace "pointer" with "touchScreen", then hit menu, save and exit. It will back up the original file as sec_e-pen.idc.bak. Then reboot and you're good to go.
If that doesn't work, you're doing something else wrong and I can't help you.

Aight cool...let me try that ...brb

Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I717 using xda app-developers app
Huh? You only need you edit the one file that I said
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I717 using Tapatalk 2
Aight well I did that and still nothing.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I717 using xda app-developers app
Well, it's not the ROM. Don't know what to tell you.

I don't want to change my rom
any ideas ?
Soft keys are old fashioned, you can emulate all those keys via gesture control even without losing screen space give it a try.

You have to decompile the app with app manager and not with 7zip.
If you don't know how to do it and you want to learn Google is your friend

You can have nav keys by just simply adding a line to the build.prop
1. Enter the line "qemu.hw.mainkeys=0" in build.prop in system folder
2. Reboot ,enjoy
Note: it works for almost all devices i don't know if it will work for you device (it works for mine running cm10) have a nandroid backup with you before trying. I am not responsible for any damages.
cmon, the thread is three months old

For dual booting we need a special kernel like siyah kernel for s2 and s3. We all can send a request to the dev of siyah kernel.

Can somebody get his attention, this would be one reason to rooting my phone, as I want to have the option of changing to different ROM's consistently, from CM10 to Touchwiz based ROM's, as I don't like leaving the S-pen rendered useless for too long.
Can anyone point me to available modified kernel forr dual boot for note 2
