Sense 3.6 vs Sense 4 Stablity Wise - HTC Rezound

I haven't been up to date with the sense roms and have been using clean rom de for the past 2 months. I'm sick and tired of nova launcher/apex launcher/trebuchet launcher/ being extremely choppy on our phone so I'm going to convert to sense.
Sense 4 looks pretty nice but I'm not sure which one is more stable at the moment, sense 3.6 or sense 4? I'd really like to get on sense 4 if possible and which rom would you guys recommend for the most stability + speed?

Newts RC 3 one xxx is stable enough for me to use as my DD except for one thing: HDMI out has never worked with that ROM and that's a deal breaker for me.
Everything else works perfectly.

HDMI out and Visual Voice Mail don't work on the Sense 4 roms.
I have used both Newt's one xxx rom and bored's RezRom S4 rom, and I still prefer bored's a lot more.

What is it you prefer about RezRom S4 rom??

3.6 roms are 10x more stable, but 4.0 roms are still very usable.

I'm using newts xxx 3.12 (or 3.15?) s4 rom, and everything I've tried to use works just fine, only thing I see is that the app drawer lags when launched but thats it

Has anyone tried joelz charmeleon release from yesterday. I haven't ruu'ed back to ics or I would have already flashed it. I will provide a link right now.

Have they fixed the Bluetooth issues in Sense 4 ROMs yet?
Nilsp says that's what is keeping him from releasing one.

I can confirm it is fixed in Newt's XXX 3.2.1.

I love these arbitrary comments. Given that my phone running Newts RLS 3.2.1 (and 3.1.2 before that) has NEVER crashed, has working everything (short of HDMI which i never use), and runs faster than 3.6 did before, i am not sure how 3.6 is "10x more stable"......

I'm running RezRom right now, it's been great only little problem I noticed is the lag when opening the app drawer but I can handle that no problems.
I do notice that RezRom has a some bloat in it, how's newts rom or joelz rom?

What's your daily driver?

As the title states, which ROM is your daily driver and why?
i've just made the jump from toast's cm7.1 to joelz's aosp ics. the only thing that's missing is a working camera. i can live without that for now. certainly not a deal breaker for me.
Joelz ics +1 here, pretty awesome, would like that camera working, but that's the only real issue I have with it. Had some trouble flashing it, but once I did a factory wipe, it was all butter after that...

Same here Joelz ics. I don't use the camera much

CleanROM. I use bluetooth phone and especially a2dp audio everyday. Once those are working I may jump to whatever ics rom has those working.
MIUI is mine, for the amazingly long battery life and low resource usage with incredible smoothness. I dont have 4G in my area so losing that is no big deal and I dont care about 3D in the slightest, the one thing I miss though is the Amaze camera port and a working ZSL kernel. Cant get that on AOSP but the loss of it is not enough to make me switch on a daily basis. Stability seems far better on MIUI too compared to any Sense ROM I have tried.
So in Summary:
I can get over 3 days battery life on MIUI
Stability is better
Smoother
Less resources
All games work (dont graphical glitch and crash phone)
Blackend rom with American metal theme

one of the most stable roms out there fresh, completely stock with all bloat erased, and sprint hotspot, this turned a serious flasher into a one rom lover, been using it for a month, but i occasionally use miui but when i experience a slight prob with it go back to fresh!

I'm saying it because according to Joelz "not working" list, A2DP doesn't work. If that's wrong then he should probably update it and I'd probably load it up.

The best Sense 3.5 ROM out there. Other ROMs have this gimmik, that non-working "feature". But in the end, you can't beat a swift, stable, fully-functional ROM with 40h+ battery life.
As for the kernel I use anthrax, the "unspeakable" one .

[Q] ICS with sense 4

I want to try a ROM with sense 4. I understand there are some small issues with ROMs running sense 4, such as bluetooth not working properly, or MMS. Can anyone advise about a sense 4 Rom they have used? what issues they have and if they can be used as a daily driver? I want to try the ROM with the least issues. Thanks.
Best thing to do is check the first post of each Sense 4.0 ROM. The Dev's list bugs they know of so users know what they are flashing.
Currently I am running RezRom S4 1.2 which is fairly stable. To my knowledge, this is the only Sense 4.0 ROM which has MMS working properly and is fairly quick. Bluetooth for streaming music works on all Sense 4.0 roms, however, using bluetooth for phone is not. If you absolutely need that function, Sense 4.0 roms are not for you.
To be honest, I think you should try them out and see which one you like. I run RezRom S4 as my daily so that could be a start for you.
I will stress that you read the OP's of each rom THOROUGHLY that way you are not disappointed when you boot up. You absolutely must exit the initial setup and disable the animations to avoid ghosting and serious lag.
Newts one xxx is pretty stable. Mms worked for me. Didn't try Bluetooth. All sense 4 roms have been kinda laggy for me though. Nils business ics is a great Rom as well with sense 3.6

Yeah all the Sense 4.0 ROMs are pretty stable and most things work except Bluetooth calls and maybe a couple small things depending on the ROM you get. Only issue is they lag a bit, especially when switching home screens. Seems like maybe we don't have full h/w acceleration yet on thes ROMs but I'm no expert.
If I HAD to go with a ROM I'd pick |||bored|||'s since I've had the most luck with it, but I generally go back to ICS with Sense 3.6 since more things are working and they run smoother. Sense 4.0 is definitely fun to play with though.

MHL ROM's?

I know that our AOSP venture doesn't have MHL yet so i'm wondering what ROM's everyone is using that has MHL. As far as i know only sense 3.6 base ROM's have MHL working :/ is this true? If so can someone recommend the best MHL ROM we have or the one you use. Thanks all!
Sparknotes: So MHL ROM's = sense 3.6 right?
If so whats best sense 3.6 ROM or best MHL ROM?

I believe so. Tons of them. I prefer senseless ones due to the bloat plus you get more performance, ram and less system stuff running.
SO desensed 3.6 too? if you don't get back to me ill see in a bit installing neomax now

Look for a ROM recommendation

I want to root and install a custom ROM because I use my phone alot for music now and I would like the beats for all mod. I am also interested in the HQ camera. I like Sense 3.6 how it is. I have not used sense 4.0 and dont know if I need that. I want all bloat removed. One of my main reasons I havent rooted yet is because I dont want to have to redownload all my apps from the store. If I just back up my SD card will I be fine?
I keep coming back to Vigor360 because it does everything you are asking for (-camera) and is smooth/fast. I have tried a lot of ROMs and highly reccomend it. Check out Titanium Backup to backup your stuff before changing ROMs because you'll need to wipe your phone!
I think you can flash/install something separate to upgrade your camera. Not sure.

IMHO, I would go with ViperRez. It has the beats all mod and is debloated. Sense 4 is sooooo smooth on that ROM, and the Venom tweaks give you all the options that give ViperRez an AOSP feel. It should definitely be a top contender for you to try.
Sun's viper kang is really really smooth. I'm running it as my DD for a week and have had no problems. I'm using it De-sensed and I get thirteen hours of life out of my battery. Easily the nicest Rom I've flashed in the past month

I really like HTC texting and I would prefer not to lose that. Where do I go from there?
CounterStrike 2.2
CounterStrike 2.2 is pretty awesome. The most stable senseless Rom (the other ones my rezound has had issues with GPS and Bluetooth consistently working) my S-ON Rezound has experienced. IT has DSP Manager but no beats.
If you like Sense, VIper Rez is super smooth. After I traded my Galaxy Nexus for the Rezound, I had Clean Rom 1.4 DE for a week or two and then Viper Rez became my default ROM for 2 months until CounterStrike. I prefer senseless aesthetics, but Sense can be smoother and has better support for EAS.

CounterShrike is actually an AOSP ROM, not a Senseless ROM. Before we had AOSP, Senseless ROMs were ROMs that had a bunch of stuff stripped from it to make it look like AOSP.
i use rage 1.9 now very snappy
with firefox beta and rebooter
sometimes need to clean the memory cos lags suddenly appear
there a lot of gr8 roms out there
if u have the time try them u will figure more about ur taste
If I get a senseless rom, is the camera going to be bad? One of the main reasons I didnt like using senseless ROMs in the past was the lack of camera support

There is a big difference between senseless ROMs and AOSP-based ROMS:
Senseless ROMS are actually based on the stock Sense ROM, but have many aspects of Sense removed, and are often themed to look like AOSP. These include Adrenaline, NeoMAX, SlimROM / SlimKANG, and CleanROM DE.
AOSP ROMS are based on Google's original Android code, known as AOSP (Android Open Source Project). Most AOSP ROMS are based either on CM (CyanogenMod) which is based on AOSP, or on AOKP (Android Open Kang Project), which, in turn, is based on CM. AOSP ROMs include CounterShrike, AOKP-Neo, Rage, AOKP Nightlies, and Paranoid Android.
Sorry if that was more confusing than helpful...
Now to answer your question, I believe all Senseless ROMs keep the Sense Camera (although they sometimes have the AOSP camera icon and theming), so the camera will be the same as stock. AOSP ROMs have the AOSP camera, which is worse than the Sense camera, but not by that much - the quality depends much more on the phone's hardware than on the camera software.
TLDR - the camera in Senseless ROMs is the same as in Sense ROMs; the camera in AOSP ROMs is a little worse.
CounterShrike is the best one out there. However I recommend 2.1 because I've heard the latest versions have issues with video playback. 2.1 has been running fine on my phone for weeks now. Also, for improving smoothness (and battery life strangely enough - maybe this is due to not constantly ramping up/down the CPU?), use the "performance" governor in performance settings.

There are a couple out there but AmonRa is the most tried and true IMO.
A whole thread about which recovery is the best:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1929347
Note in particular all my posts regarding the superiority of TWRP.
Also note that a majority of the posts supporting AR base their arguments on falsehoods (such as that TWRP has bugs/imperfections, that TWRP can't flash VRThemes, or that CWM still has a charging issue), or on nothing at all.

The only reason I stick to Amon over TWRP is compatibility with vrthemes, and it seems like backup and restores are quicker. I don't think one is necessarily better than the other, its all personal preference.

As I said in the post you quoted, TWRP can flash VRThemes. Con's port could't, but FlyHalf's build can.
And I'm not sure about backup / restore, but on my phone, TWRP wipes and flashes much faster than AR.
