I'm getting FC when using any rom that has the ics camera with it. Just asking, can I copy my old original camera apk into the new ROM and re flash it? Would it work?

Give it a try and see if it works out
Worse case scenario is a bunch of FCs so keep a nand ready or be ready to flash another rom.
Make sure its same firmware and same type of rom ...of its a TW rom only use a camera from another TW rom.. same goes for CM9, AOKP, Paranoid

Before doing all that, it smacked me in the head. I'm running Smart Stay, guess both cameras can't be on at the same time. Turned of smart stay and ics camera works.

hi all
just on the internet I stumbled upon the rom for our phone built on ICS 4.0 on this site
http://4pda.ru/forum/index.php?showtopic=284507&st=0#entry11761
Rom is booting
Wipe data/factory
save backup your last rom and flash this rom
1. Click 2 times on the button add. the menu. 2. we carry out a finger across the screen until the sensor begins to respond like a circle with your finger. 3. tap with one finger to make holding the circle where you want and crushing second! finger! in any area of the screen. circle reacts. effect is pressed)

rom is booting, but i can't unlock the phone
a blue circle which is moving over my finger and all
Seems to me it's from this forum-

This isnt a development thread, a moderator should move it to general section because its a link to another webpage only.
The main thing about this rom is the sensors are not working, the boot up is different and wierd. normal booting time. Sensors are totally not working. Force Close at start up.Well Its pre alpha so this bugs are common. just wait for andy's ics phoenix rom coming out soon.
Is this same as SWEATTAIMI??

Okay, i tested and flashed this ROM, its not at all similar to SWEATTAIMIs port.. this one uses .32 kernel while SWEATTAIMIs uses a .35 kernel.. i guess this has been done from the source as there are many different bugs...
I got a headache trying to unlock this ROM.. LOL.
anyway, wait for andys ROM...

Hi everyone,
Here is a simple question:
Is it possible to port the stock froyo samsung camera app to work in an ICS rom? The samsung camera app is much better than the ics camera app.
It looks like the camera has many dependency packages in the lib folder.
Sent from my SGH-T959 using xda app-developers app
...You're probably gonna have a hard time finding the stock Samsung app because:
1) It is most likely copyrighted by Samsung
2) You are most likely the only person on earth who prefers the Samsung camera over stock ICS.
The stock camera app can be easily found in the stock rom or in most froyo custom rooted roms. The stock samsung app is better in every way. It has more modes, adjustments, and better panorama.
Sent from my SGH-T959 using xda app-developers app
I've used the stock Samsung app on my Vibrant, and I prefer the stock ICS app in every way. The panorama mode is far superior in my opinion, not to mention the nicer UI, the faster shutter, and the option to shoot video and pictures simultaneously on certain phones/ ROMs. It is unlikely that the Samsung camera will be ported to ICS/JB simply because there would have to be a lot of changes made for compatibility, and most people prefer the stock ICS/JB camera.

Really, the stock ics camera I used was unstable and the panorama will sometimes not save. The panorama also takes forever to generate. What rom did you use? I was using ics passion

I was using SlimRom, its really lightweight and fairly stable, since it has gone through several iterations. You can find it at slimroms.com. It has OTA updates as well, although those are kinda hit-or-miss.
So I've been running a custom ROM for just about 24 hours now, it's a great ROM great on battery life but there are little things that I miss/were removed on this ROM that well I can't do without (I get it some folks like it this way but hey I wanted to try something different and ok I want to go back to regular Sense haha) so what do I have to flash to get back to Sense but I want to stay unlocked and Rooted so I can do the things I want to do ( Wi-Fi tether, LMT launcher, flash a battery saving kernel and hopefully flash photo sphere) thank you in advance
What rom are you on? Did you create a nandroid backup before you flashed the rom? If you did you can just restore if you rooted before you made the backup ajdn flashed rom.

No I couldn't get Nandroid to work for me so I did titanium back up but as this is my first time doing anything like this I don't think I did a correct back up...I think I just backed up apps and information

Also I'm on the same ROM you on but I can't send pictures, really can't do without the 3 dot option menu key, can't add pictures to contact info

On roms that remove the black bar the recent apps button is used as a munu button.

Ok ok try looking for sense ROM if you guys have a link save me some time that would be great and as far as the menu button no dice won't work for me I really like the ROM just can't get use to no mms and cropping picture for contacts...probably minor things with all the work put into this z ROM

Look for COVXX's supercharged sense rom in android development.

Ho everyone, I've been having a great time with root box. I was a bit discouraged about using an aosp rom(because of all the extra features that Samsung roms have (ultima rom ) but the multitasking lag that I suffer from it was gone the moment i changed to an aosp rom. I miss some things about samsung roms, but otherwise I quite happy I did the change. But the only thing that I think is the best for me is the Samsung camera app. It has far superior quality and functions over the aosp one even though its faster in opening. But it lack the low light conditions that the Samsung one has(and don't tell that they has the same quality because it doesn't)
So to sum it up I wannna know if i can have the Samsung camera app over my rom( root box for the ones who skipped my intro) or something that I could do to use that camera. I know that there are some persons out there that could have the same question so i hope this can help them and that somebody gives any idea, thanks.

Not possible.
Samsung camera will only work on TW ROM.
Sent from my GT-I9300 using xda app-developers app
So it's practically impossible. Anybody has any kind of suggestion?

No matter what camera you install, all will act roughly the same. Completely the same regarding lowlight conditions.
If you need a better camera, go back to Crapwiz.
Sent from my GT-I9300 using Tapatalk 2
Well by seeing the suggestion you are giving i will try to do dual boot with siyah kernel with a tw rom. Any suggestions about a light one, just to use the camera.
Sent from my GT-I9300 using xda app-developers app
Well you could compile the camera apk with all the dependencies built into it (harder than it sounds). We did it back in the S1 days.

Need something to do? Want a little... challenge? Seriously though, would you be interested in doing that, please
Are AOSP ROMs still not able to save photos to external memory? I stopped using a CM based ROM before because the pictures had to be saved to the phone and I prefer them on the SD card.
I just flash this

That's awesome, thanks.
Maybe I will try an AOSP ROM again. It's just that not having a stable CM10 really bugs me. I'm happily on a Sammy ROM now but long for the clean UI of plain Android.
I found the cm10.1 nightlies to be stable. I'm on pa now with that camera. No complaints. Everything I use, works
Sent from my GT-I9300 using Tapatalk 2
Hmmm.. So are you using just the regular CM10 nightly or another one? No issues whatsoever? Not even anything tiny like the camera flash crash or MMS issues? We'll probably never see a full stable at this point.
Sent from my GT-I9300 using xda app-developers app
I'm on paranoid android. Yes, MMS crashes but I email pics for free using unlimited data. Most UK carriers charge a small fortune for MMS so I've never really bothered. I see it as an outdated technology
Sent from my GT-I9300 using Tapatalk 2
Yeah, unfortunately when your parents use MMS it's not something you can be without. Plus I actually know a lot of people who I use it with who dont like dealing with whatsapp and other apps.
