Hey all...
Now that the official ICS has seen light of day, can I request some dev to make an official AOSP ICS ROM port from the GNEXUS devices...
In fact, I don't mind doing it myself if anyone can just point me in the right direction...I went through the guide here to port ROMs, but the thing is, all the downloaded stock ROMs are .img files and don't contain folders I can edit...
Who can help me...again, I don't mind making an attempt myself...any1??

If you are on cdma (i don't see you are american so i doubt it) on droidhive there is a cm9 based on ics so camcodere hw accel etc, if you are on gsm there is only the miui. The dev have some problem making the data working with the gsm patch on ics. So you can use the miui or wait the dev can fix the gsm patch (or if you are good on this help them fix it )

Do you live in a 4g area and make use of it? Go with MOF's rom.
Do you not care/use 4g but value complete stability and amazing battery life? Go with 2.3.5 Hybrid or CM7
Do you like to be on the bleeding edge but can handle some slight bugs and stability issues? Go with a Jelly Bean based ROM. CNA would be my recommendation as it seems to be the most stable and has the best battery life of the bunch.
i will try 2.3.5 Hybrid
but i found many links which link i download the rom
my bootloader is unlocked
do i have to install KERNEL and ADDON ?

Kernel is included, addons are not necessary.
CM10 is the best. 4G is pointless so avoid all stock roms. They are not any good.
i am not using 4g

You think HybridRom isn't any good?
It's brilliant work in mine and many others opinion. CM10 is damn good and what I run as my daily, but you can't deny that at it's current iteration, there are still a few issues that don't exist within stockbased roms.
can you give me the cm10 link to try it ?
can i use cdma with this rom ?

Just go to Photon Android Development section and click on cm10.... Again, i would suggest CNA JB or AOKP JB over cm10 right now. CM10 hasnt been updated as frequently as the rest and has more bugs.
As you can see here, there is an nice JB MIUI Rom for CDMA with Buttered Toast Kernel inside!
Is someone able to port this to GSM?
Nearly all little Bugs are fixed, so it sounds good that this can be a nearly bugfree daily driver!
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1942898
I will start trying it myself but i have no experience in Rom development or porting! So maybe someone says that its easy for him to do! Or maybe there already is a new port of 2.10.19 that i don´t know yet!
A) its not easy to simply port over a rom
B) miui has already officially started working on a jb build which can be found in the thread in general
C) THIS SHOULD BE IN Q&A
Sent from my HTC EVO 3D X515m using Tapatalk 2
The official builds are also just ported as far as i know or build by some devs, thats the reason why i ask for that, i don´t know how many work it is to port a rom! But there has been some ports of older version, but they have some bugs which make them hard to use as daily driver!
I know that this maybe should be in Q&A but its an GSM Specific thing, thats why i asked for it here or maybe showed some GSM users how far Dev is in CDMA!
GSM dev is also Far and very very good and i really thank all the devs for thier nice work! without them i would be really unhappy with my phone!

EDIT: There's no point:
1. As already said, official builds are out.
2. MIUI is a pain to port and by the time I get it to boot the official build will already be a daily driver.
I already have a port from Sensation miui JB but it has some bugs, i will try to port this and hope to get it working.

I flashed your ROM and my first impressions are that it's very good. I've noticed a bug though. When you change the workspace to Tablet mode the phone is stuck at the boot animation, and I've had to do a full wipe to boot it up again. Apart from that, everything is good for now, and I'll continue testing it.
EDIT: It's in tablet mode after the wipe. I guess the configuration files are in the system partition..
EDIT2: The same happens when I change to other modes as well.

You can also get MIUI direct from MIUI for our EVO 3D GSM. I did a full wipe then installed this from recovery:
http://files.miuiandroid.com/2.10.19/miuiandroid_shooteru-2.10.19.zip
This is the latest from MIUI themselves, for our phones.
Then install the gapps from above post.
This is the link to the MIUI thread containing the rom for lots of phones:

Thank if I helped

That´s nice to read, but this is a ICS build, which we already know, here it is about the JB build, so newer android, and not sense based!
EDIT: To all of you here, you also have a problem with sound? It only starts working if i change volume via volume rockers! Thats my biggest problem with the JB build, can that be fixed with something??
I got to look which Hboot etc i use! Will write again soon with that infos!

Hello, I apologize if there is a thread about this already.
I just wanted to know if there is a 4.2.2. based rom for the Droid Razr cdma that has a working camera (preferably with timelapse) AND webtop...
I use both of those features a lot, and i was just curious.
I don't care about how it looks/performs or any other features, just mostly those two.
I have SS 3.11 installed as well
Any help would be appreciated.
Disclaimer:
I am not new to the rooting/rom scene, i have been running custom roms ever since my og droid 1...
Thanks
Good Question
I also search a flawless working rom with a full working camera (1080p), weptop would also be very nice...
But every rom I tried had big poblems with these issues.
It has not yet developed by any dev but i believe some devs are working on this bug , i hope it would be available for everyone very soon .
Edit : why don't you use GSM ROM and flash the patch to convert it to CDMA huh ??
Thanks!!
Please hit the thanks button if i helped ya in anyways !!!

There isn't a 4.2.x ROM with working HDMI anyways, so I'm not sure what you're talking about...
Webtop friendly Roms
Rage & Jellywiz Roms are the most stable I have found so far. Seems to be a link with the CM/AOKP base and the HDMI issue.

I'm about to give it a go with ROM porter tool
but I wan't to ask something initially,
if my phone is android 4.1 (custom rom) , can I port and use a 4.3 rom from somewhere else?
I am also aware that I need to make sure the phones specs are similar, what specs should be similar (pixel density, processor, screen size/resoloution, etc).
Can I use a custom rom for DX as a base?
If anyone knows any similar phones to the DX i will be very greatful
I also asume if I fail miserably I can simply boot into recovery and restore my backup too
I don't want to be rude but if you don't know how to update stock roms, how you can think porting roms?
You have to know how are working libs and decompile apks/jars.
And with Rom porter tool if you click a button the Rom is not ported.

No offense taken,
I have updated my stock rom ages ago btw , it was reverting back using ruu that was something that I wasn't clear on (wasn't sure if the hboot changed) because i didn't make a back-up.
This is gonna sound really naive of me but I watched the video with the rom porter tool and it seems complicated but the steps to port in the software seem fairly easy to follow too, plus if it doesn't work, I simply restore my backup :victory:
I don't think I have much to lose tbh...

I think i understand now :cyclops:
because there are no stable versions of cyanogenmod for dx, the possiibilty to port a rom is not going to be as good as you will carry the bugs from the base cyanogenmod over to the ported rom.
Now, if i use cm9, does that mean that I can only use ported roms that support ics or can i use a ported jb rom on cm9 base? im talking about this cm mod http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2265338 (i am aware of the several bugs btw
-Bluetooth
-GPS
-Video recorder
-Internal memory
-Wifi tethering
-USB tethering)

You cannot port JB roms over ICS roms and viceversa, this because the kernel won't boot both of them.

Ouch,
So the main issue is trying to find a stable version of CM that runs JB or higher to use as a base to port roms over. But trying to fix the bugs are difficult because it is hard to find the problem and the CM website have not even released CM for dx.
