[Q] power button doesn't enter in recovery - HTC Aria Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I've searched this and saw other phones ask and the answers for them not help me.
I get into recovery. The volume buttons work, but all the other buttons (power and digital) just take the screen to the wallpaper. Hitting one of the buttons again brings the text back. I have the revolutionary recovery in I see.
I haven't used this phone in like 2 years. But before I stopped I rooted and installed a good working ROM. Everything worked fine. Now I can't use it. I updated recovery with ROM manager. Then let ROM manager try and install a ROM for me, but it takes me to this same screen and does nothing.
I can't even turn the phone off when in recovery, I have to pull the Battery. This is a great little phone, I hope I didnt' screw something up.
Suggestions?

In the newer versions of CWM, you have to use the trackball at the bottom of the phone to move around and press it to select.

Wow I feel really stupid... that's he only thing I didn't push. Thank you.

I've heard that froyo has it built in, they've been talking about it being buggy in the i9000 forums.
your supposed to hold the back button and tap the home button but I havent got it to work (might not be in my rom) some i9000 users say it gets stuck on, taking a ton of snapshots of the homescreen lol
guess it doesnt work on obsidian 4.2 rom then because i get nothing =/
I did something with the buttons and took one but havent been able to do it again

It happens when the phone lags like crazy and then you press those buttons. Don't ask me why, but this has happened twice with me.

[Q] Clock Work- Broken Screen

Okay my issue is this. I have a Samsung Vibrant, The other day i broke my screen and i cant see anything. The phone still works fine (i can get all my calls and messages, i just cant see them). My phone is rooted and i was running triggers latest rom with clock work as my recovery. My problem is this I need to get my pictures and videos off this phone but i cant mount my usb because the touch screen isnt working. So i was wondering if i could do it through the recovery screen, problem is i cant see anything so i was hoping someone could walk me through the steps. I can only see one little corner of my screen so i know once im in recovery. I just need someone to tell me how many clicks to make with the volume buttons until i reach the usb mount feature. I tried looking for screen shots but none of them covered the usb mount feature. THANKS
6 clicks down on volume button>press power button> 2 Clicks up on volume button > press power button
THANK YOU!!!!!! i cant wait to get home and try this
if u have lookout free ur pictures will be backed up! so log into lookout from ur pc
You can also download droid explorer and do it that way. Usb does not have to be mounted

LOL, oh man I sure hope you get those clicks right! Hope you don't click it twice or not at all when you think you hit it once or sumthin. I'd find someone with a Vibrant root it and do the 2 phones side by side. Still kinda scary though. Better yet why not just replace the screen? Good luck man!

Left rosie button non-functional?

My app drawer button is non-functional ish. The app drawer button doesn't always select in the green tone to show it's been activated. I know the screen recognizes it's being pressed because the full-screen weather animations stop once I press the screen but the rosie button doesn't... go. I tried resetting HTC Sense, no go. I don't know what's wrong.
Anyone else got this issue?

I've never had that happen. Are you using the stock HTC skin, or are you using one of the themed skins? Just curious on that. If you're not using the stock one, perhaps try switching back to the stock skin? A battery pull maybe? Sorry I don't have a better suggestion for you.

Stock skin, not temp rooted or overclocked or anything funky. It just started today too. I wish I didn't have such a unique problem! Grr. Thanks though man.

Well you can try rebooting the phone and removing the battery for a few seconds, but I'm going to assume you have done that already.
Second would probably be a hard reset, which I guarantee to fix your problem since it seems to be some sort of software hiccup.

EDIT : Get a drawing app and see if you can draw in the bottom left corner. If you can't, then you have a problem with the digitizer not registering in that area.

Okay I will try the drawing app, and yeah I've pulled the battery to no avail. I'll try the app, then just see if it works itself out.
EDIT: Drawing app worked fine, it's a Rosie issue. Hmm.
on that note
On the same note. Is there a way to change what is launched when you tap the button?

I don't believe that's possible without full root. It is definitely possible to remap the rosie buttons, but I don't think we can until we get S-off. (could be wrong, because there's a ton of talented devs here, but I dont think so)
Someone (literally just forgot who) is trying to repackage all of Rosie itself so it can be installed as an apk with a ton of mods, but again, I can't remember who.
Oh also, the button is now fully functional. Just kind of started working randomly, but oh well! That works for me.

[How To] Put, Start AT&T Samsung Galaxy S2 (SII) Into Recovery Mode or ClockWorkMod

[How To] Put, Start AT&T Samsung Galaxy S2 (SII) Into Recovery Mode or ClockWorkMod
1). Turn off your phone
2). Grip the phone with both hands on each side (there’s a reason)
3). Get ready. Now, press and HOLD the volume up and down button and the power at the same time and HOLD…..
4). KEEP HOLDING because the screen will flash and you might see a screen that says Samsung Galaxy SII GT I9100 and an yellow exclamation point. KEEP HOLDING…
5). The screen will flash a second time the GT I9100 screen and when it does LET GO AFTER THAT.

Or simply use any one of the many apps that do it without the finger shuffle.
Quick Boot (free)
CWM Manager (free)
ROM Manager (yes Misterjunky, we know!)
and the "power off" menu selection from all the custom roms.
And lots of others.

Your forgot one very good one called:
"Reboot Recovery" which has only one
purpose, "1-click Recovery".
Your list of options is very good!
this works, thanks
One more note: I mistakenly thought the power key was used to select but it is home.
Improtant keys when in recovery:
voume keys for up and down
home key for select
back key for.... tada: going back!
Actually you don't need to go that far.
Hold all 3 buttons until you see the first splash screen come up.... then let go of the power button but keep holding the vol+/- buttons until CWM comes up.

That game was ridiculously hard without that code... (and I think there should be a 'select' in there before 'start' if memory serves)
That sounds so familiar... Is it mortal kombat or Mario?

Well I don't know about this particular version since people are still reporting problems downloading it, but in all the versions of S-Voice I've tried crash and logcat cites a missing resource
I have no issues asking about empire state building and hitting more. The flashable zip I posted link to from wanam is like 80mb and has the libs and everything. I haven't gotten it to fc yet and I have tried.

so far so good on ShoStock 3.0.5
I got force closed when setting a calendar entry. It set the entry but force closed in the process so it "sorta worked"
Alarm, open app, navi, texting, posting to facebook, asking questions, etc....works great on S2.
I got a massive scare though when flashing it. I hit reboot the screen dimmed and then went all funky colors. I had to rip the battery. It booted back up fine into CWM, rebooted again, and phone is working fine. I'm going to chuck that up as random.
I get s-voice to work, and well, but I don't see it listed in my app drawer. The only way to bring it up is to long press the search button. Any ideas?
Just switched roms today to Mystic v4.
EDIT: nevermind. Reboot and it showed up. ::slaps forehead

Big Problem!
I'm running Mystic's Glory v4.0. I just dl'ed this Svoice zip to my phone. The ROM Manager asked if I wanted to install and I followed the prompts. The opening Samsung Galaxy SII screen comes on, then it goes black and nothing happens.
I popped out the battery a few times and tried to reboot, but same thing happens: Intro screen then black.
Any ideas?

Try wiping cache and dalvik with a fix permissions for good measure. If that doesn't work sounds like a reflash of from is in order.
PS. Try flashing it manually in recovery instead of using rom manager. I've seen it do all kinds of weird ****.

Thanks for the fast reply!
Can you give me a little more detailed instructions. How do I get into my CWM to wipe cache and dalvik with a dead phone? Or how do I reflash with a dead phone?
In fact, how do I get into recovery? I hold down the Vol Down button and the power button and instead of taking me to recovery, it goes to:
Warning!!
A custom OS can cause critical problems...
I can then either Vol Up to Continue or Vol Down to Restart phone. If I press Vol Down, say problem. Vol UP takes me to another screen that says:
Odin Mod, Downloading...Do not turn off target!!
Please advise.
Thanks!!!
