I have been bouncing back and forth between 2.3.6 and 4.0.3 and wish I could figure out a good way to root my ICS 4.0.3. The things I have tried from here have all resulted in failures and having to rollback to 2.3.6 rooted. I hate all the voice recognition software and would love to get rid of it so rooting is my only options, I think!
More information.
SAMSUNG-SGH-I777
Android Version 4.0.3
Baseband Version I777UCLD4
Kernel Version 3.0.15-I777UCLD4-CL395978
Build Number IML74K.CLD4
Please help if possible.
Please see here.
Also, this is a question so it belongs in Q&A.
Your other thread, which was evidently posted in some other forum, was move here to Q&A.
Sorry for posting in the wrong spot and thanks for the answer. I will try that and report back.

Hi everyone I am Sean, and I just got my ATT SGS2 Yesterday. I think I followed a rooting guide for the non ATT one. The rooting was successful but my WIFI is down with no MAC Address, also I cannot seem to get any custom rom working.
Is there a way to get the Stock ATT Kernel so I can flash and start over. Is there a rooting guide specificly for the ATT version?
Thanks ahead of time!

If u flashed the wrong kernel, go here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1294574. Not trying to be mean, but it took me less then a minute of skimming over the Android development section to find this.
Here is the normal rooting guide, http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1301682.

Umm, Sorry I wasn't aware I should be looking in the Development section? Since that isn't the right section...?

Please read *before* you post a question. There is a lot of information available on the XDA I777 forums. Please read all the stickies in the general section, as well as the library sticky in the development section. You've been on xda-developers for several years and made many posts, so you *should* know the forum rules. People here will be glad to help you if you do your part first, but if you are looking to have your hand held, you will probably get little help.

Excuse me, I did read. Why would I look in the development section for a troublshooting issue? Please do not post unhelpful comments like that. You obviously can't comprehend the issue fully.

It's just that your questions are already answered in sticky posts in both the general forum and the development forum. I thought it would be better if you wnet and read the answers there rather than taking the time to write the answers all over again.
You clearly didn't read if you went and flashed something not meant for your device without VERY explicit instructions on what is OK to flash and how to flash it.

Actually as I have already explained I did read plenty, I found nothing in the Q&A Section, which is where a solution to a "Question" should be.
And the Guide I followed which was from XDA never once stated that it was only for the International version. Nor did it say it would not work for the AT&T version.
I have been with this community a long time and have never had someone as rude or unhelpful as you. Please do not reply to posts if you are not helping in anyway.
Even though you may have read threads in the Q&A section, a simple search would have pulled up the IMPORTANT threads taht are located in the Dev section that would have answered your questions... and why are they in the Dev section you ask? Because, when flashing anything to your phone like a rom or kernel, its considered DEVELOPMENT and you would have know that if you would have read.
Now go read some more and search. Thread closed.
My lil sis got a 16gb nook tablet about 2 weeks ago. It came running 1.4.1 so i used albertwertz's 4.5 method to root it and brian's OTA blocker. Apparently brians doesnt work anymore. Her tab updated to 1.4.2 today and broke mostbof the gapps. Im running MIUI on my NT but ive never dealt with 1.4.2 before. So thats where you guys come in. I would like to know the easiest way to wipe the NT then root it, boot into recovery and then flash MIUI. I just dont know the exact steps to do it right (yet).
Links to the appropriate threads would be appreciated.
Thanks xda!

This belongs in Q&A if it's a support problem. Devs are not here to be everyone's tech support. The strict setup of this forum keeps development going smoothly, so please try to follow the rules.

This should be in the Q&A section, development is strictly for development dude.

I need an explanation why did you post in the wrong place?
please read in wiki and sticky guides thread....you will got all information you required.....
you cannot flash i9100 firmware into i9100g version..
Yeah well, we all need an explanation why people like you think its logical to post crap like this in a forum that is full of roms/other dev and is obviously specifically for releases and reference and not n00b questions?
We would also like an explanation of why you decided to post this in here instead of the dedicated QUESTIONS forum?
stupid fool! this thread should be post at general section!

No it's not the same.
You wrote in Galaxy s2 i9100, while he gave you link to i9100G section (where you have a sticky Q/A on the top http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1585413)
I know that many people here are impolite, and it's shame. But it doesn't change the fact that you acted ignorant by opening this thread in wrong section, asking noob questions that have been answered several times before. Don't expect anybody do your homework for you.

It makes us stupid because we pointed out why you was stupid?!? ...hmm yeah that makes sense. Or could it be simply you are now trying to take the attention away from your stupidity and blame others?
If you want/need proper replies have the common sense to not post questions about what has already been answered, stop been lazy and use search and if you do need top create a topic, do it in the right place instead of polluting the development areas with crap.
Moved to Q&A...
...and just for the record, once one person has pointed out that a thread is in the wrong section, anyone else doing so is essentially spamming and needlessly bumping the thread.
Just report it and move on please.
The ROM that you mentioned is designed for the 19100 not the 19100G so it won't work. I'm not going to explain what a baseband, kernel and build are but I did stumble upon a really good website for finding stuff like that... I think they call it "Google" (something like that). You should definitely check it out some time. If you're not willing to research and explore for yourself, then this isn't the forum for you.
As we all know that .54 firmware is still not smooth. But someone said his HK .54 firmware is quite smooth and no lag.
I don't believe that true and to download test. The result is faster than c.10 or other rom. This result is very strange and
any other people like me. I have not rooted and cwm recovery this time. I still have a locked bootloader. Sorry for my
bad English to describe this issue.
My friend there is already a discussion for firmwares in the sticky thread, why create a new thread???
