everythign saves to internal rather than external sd?
Use forum search.
Or to cut it short; doesn't really work. But you can use the app Directory Bind (requires root) to move certain huge apps/folders from your internal to your external SD card.

New Atrix, unmodded. Tested on default storage setting set in either internal storage, or sd card.
16g sd card.
Card contains music, books and pictures.
File manager of the phone can see it and folders on it just fine, music player can see music files on it just fine.
Market bought music player( Power Amp) does not see SD card, it can only see internal storage as SD card.
Cool Reader- same- it thinks internal memory is SD card.
Neither can browse to the SD card.
Both apps worked with droid x and nexus s phones succesfuly before.
Apps that have ability to browse internal memory (tiny player and fbreader)- can go to /sdcard-ext/ and find files there.
Is there any way to make sure that apps, that are built to use SD card for their media would be able to see and use SD card, instead of "virtual" SD on the Internal Storage?
Thank You

Hi,
I had the same issue with a app called Slideshow Bob. I came from a Samsung Captivate and the file system was such that the external card was seen as a subdirectory of the internal card. I never had a problem with this arrangement in apps. However, the Atrix sees the external card as completely separate and some apps simply could not "see" the external card. My solution? I used a different slideshow app. Not exactly the ideal solution, but I had spent enough time trying to work around it. I don't know how other android devices have the external card arrangement, but this may be a bigger issue than we'd like until app developers change their apps or Motorola decides to change it's storage arrangement. Hope this helps.
Thank you for your answer,
using different apps is a work around.
I used different one- moved my content to the internal storage.
Both work.
What I realy would like to see is - those apps work as intended, the way they do work in most android phones from Droid to Nexus S.

Has anyone tried to replace the Music folder on internal storage with a symbolic link to the Music folder on external? Not sure if Android supports symbolics or not...
Should have known it would'nt be this easy. Tried it on existing SD and found that symbolic links are not supported on FATx. Reformatted my SD to EXT3/2 and booted back up. I get a SD format not recognized error.
Hi i currently have the 16gb sgs3, and ive installed a few hd games aswell as other stuff and my internal storange is almost full, i cant seem to find any option that will allow me to get extra space back on the internal storage. all my personal files pictures etc are on the external 16gb sd card i have, is there a way around do make external sd the default storage location for all data?
Check out Directory Bind (search XDA, not the play store). It let's you mount folders meaning that you can show the contents of your sd card in a sub folder of the internal memory. That way you can move your game folders to the external sdcard card and they are still shown as if they are still where they used to be. The game won't notice the difference and you safe some internal storage space.

My apps are installing on my internal USB storage for some reason and it's soon full. I can't put any apps to my external SD-Card and i wounder why that is happening.
What could I have done and what can I do to change it so my apps are installing on the external SD card?
Thanks!!
To begin with, you should have posted this thread in the "Q&A" section. However, to put applications in your external SD card, use Link2sd.
I'm sorry i placed it in the wrong section.
Well, when i open that app and look at my apps, it says they're already on the sd-card. Tho when i look at the map where they are placed, it don't say /external_sd. It's in /mnt/asec/xxxx.
How come?
Is it possible to move the apps manually (copy/paste) from the folder where the apps are saved to the external_sd map?
See question. 2 and 9 gb of space is not cutting it for me with a lot of programs not allowing you to move stuff to the external sd card. Is there a way that works for the amaze to move data to the external sd card?

you can use almost any file manager with root premissons or not in order to move stuff from your internal storage to your sd card.. the only issue is you have to be careful of what you move because not every app will function properly if moved to external storage.. i think titanium backup also allows you to batch move apps to the phones internal storage (not system storage that's the 2gb)

link2SD, move applications to SD card even if it doesn't allow to (it's built-in to ROMS for phones with smaler internal memory, like my low-end Optimus T with 150MB internal)
however, the speed of the SD card is generally slower than internal memory... just a small warning
another option would be the app 'gl to sd' (or something similar to that).
its free and its main use is to save the gameloft game data to your external sdcard. ive tried it and it works with the games. i do believe it'll allow you to move other app data as well.
My phone with Android O has an unfortunate partition table atm - large internal storage, small internal "sd" storage.
To my surprise, many apps insist to put their data on the sd parition like offline maps or email storage. So atm, half my internal storage is empty, and my sd is full :-\
All tools I have found move data/apps from the internal storage to the (external) sd card (apps2sd, link2sd, appmgr), and anything I have tried (Directory Bind, Folder Mount) aren't successful move-linking the "Android" folder on the sd to the internal storage. Moving and symlinking with the shell doesn't work either.
Question: Is there any app/way to make apps use the internal storage instread of the internal sd card (if they offer no config option)? Thanks!
.. Answering my own question:
After another day of fooling around I discovered that apps2sd "Folder Mount" tool can be mis-used to link external to internal with the "bind" option, even though it insists with a warning screen that this very thing shouldn't be done
