No Play Store or Gtalk & GVoice - Streak 5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

My phone is on Streakdroid 1.9.0. I hadn't used it in a long time. I don't have Play Store, just the old Market. GVoice and Gtalk won't run / login and there are a lot of apps that show need updating but it won't let me update them when I click on them. Is this a problem with the ROM and I should upgrade to something else? I'm only temporarily using the Streak so I'd rather not flash a new ROM unless I really have to. Thanks.

For me Longhorn 2.7 is the best so try this rom and you won't regret

@ OP
what does it says when you try to update the applications? there are times when you need to re-login into google account to make the update works again...

Gtalk says authentication failed. GVoice just started working. All the other apps in Market say they have updates but when I click on them, it says "Not Found". The Market is definitely very old. Is there a way to force the install of Play Store? I checked Google and it said it should work for GB builds and the StreakDroid is a GB build.

i see... if you just need to update the market into google play... try downloading the apk here at the forum... search for it...

Ah, I misread it. Thanks. I've been away from the Streak for a long time. Guess I need to upgrade to a more recent ROM.

Marketplace APK

I am running Nookie Froyo off the card, but using an old marketplace that is missing tons of apps. Therefore, I want to install the new marketplace. I DID a search, but couldn't find the APK file. Can anyone post the new marketplace APK? Will it work since I already have an older verison of market running?

Here's the new, and the old. In case you end up needing it.
This worked for me. I just installed it over the old market, but that was on eclair. Not sure how it will work on nookie.
Thanks. Well let's see what happens...

What process did you use to install over the old market? I couldn't get it to work... Went to Astro Manager, clicked on APK, upgrade, install, then said application not installed.

That's all I did, but it was on eclair, not froyo.
Did you try uninstalling the old market first? That might do the trick. I don't want to lead you down the wrong path though. I don't use nookie. Too much is screwy. I am currently playing with Honeycomb, but I probably won't take another ROM too serious until we get Cyanogen.

I used this to update my rooted nook's market. This should be a front page item. The autonooter has the old market... It gave me the rest of the market...

Try cancelling and reinstalling the download, has been known to happen. Not sure if its really a problem with the nook or just a problem in general with the market

It will auto update even if you do that, unless you freeze it somehow.. I did the uninstall updates a couple times last night when it got pushed to my phone.. but it kept auto updating...
I still haven't received the update...I assume I just open the market and it'll start updating when it has it right?
Does it matter if I'm on Kenn's beta 4 and not any sort of official OTA build or anything?

Hmmm, my checkin was successful, but still no update... That's weird that I wouldn't get it yet, didn't they start pushing it to Atrix users like 2 or 3 days ago? And there's been no word that they stopped due to bugs or anything?

Android app market not working?

What the hell... just tried opening up the android market app and I get an application error.
My phone is completely STOCK. Haven't made any changes to the phone. Tried restarting the phone without success.
Any ideas? I hate this stupid phone more and more each day...

Full battery. 3G/4G internet works fine. All other apps working fine.
Also tried clearing the Market app Cache.
I keep getting "Attention: an error has occurred. Please try again later."
Wooopa.. nvm..
Edit: what market version you have? If you don't have the latest try updating to the latest :?

How do I update it if I can't even open it?
I tried going to the Android market via the web browser, but it won't let me download anything since it will say "application error" again.
WTF... this is a stock phone with all updates applied. The app was working about a week or two ago...
Try clearing the data and cache then reboot and see if that helps.

Find an apk download for android market 3.3 here on XDA,.I'd post one but I'm away at work... Please wait a bit if you wish so I may post an app that let's you switch to new market without much hassle.
Edit: nvm.. can't upload it since it requires root I think a hard reset might be a choice to consider.

[Q] market issue only with newer updates of ultimatum

I am running the new rc1 download for ultimatum ics. I can download, install any apps but I cannot purchase any. Gives me the unable try again later error. I had no issues with beta 3 version, the market worked fine but the newer versions all give me the same error. I have wiped cache, cleared dalvik, tried full wipes before installing the new versions of ultimatum. Tried going into app management and clearing the play store data and cache as well as Google frame work and clearing that data (it was a suggestion on Google's help site). I restored to my beta 3 backup and the market worked perfect again, then tried to install rc1 back without a wipe and the error occurred yet again. Any other suggestions?
OK, I think I may have found the issue but still cannot fix it maybe someone else can help. I used the play store online to purchase an app. It still gave me an issue. It said that this account hasn't been used with the play store on your device. I don't understand how when it is the same account my phone is synced with.. seems as if the market isn't recognizing my account on my phone.. any help? Thanks
Try logging out of ur google account(s) and then clear market data. After log back in and i think it should work.

Yeap.
OK went menu-settings-accounts/sync and removed the Gmail account. Cleared market app data tried re-entering market. It asked me to sign in.. I did that and still had the error. I also restored my beta 3 backup again and verified I had the same account. Tried installing beta 4 after that no wipe and couldn't purchase anything after changing to 4. Something seems to be getting cleared or messed up during rom change. Just can't pinpoint it.

Well man I appreciate the help. I tried pushing an old and new version of the market. Didn't make a difference, I've tried every sequence of deleting and installing with no luck. Only thing I've found different is if I flash back to icscrewd (what I had ran before this) it works fine. What I notice though is after it asks me to sign in to my account after the full wipe, when I do so on that rom it tells me the account was successfully linked with ultimatum it doesn't it just proceeds with loading my data.. but apparently no one else has this issue so I'm clueless.. thanks for the attempts though
Just had the issue. Fixed it with installing market not play store. And let it update to playstore by its self and problem solved for me.

Omg thanks so much, I got it figured out! When I pushed the original market apk it would force close so I pushed the play store apk and still had the issue, so I reinstalled the market apk and went into titanium backup and converted the market file into a system file and that got rid of the force close then it updated on its own after a few and all is fixed now. Thanks for your time man!

I'm willing to bet not at first. I believe Verizon will keep it off so that it can substitute its own program that does the same thing. Then after a bit the devs will get it working for everyone to use.
I'm pretty bummed the device's for VZ are still shipping without Wallet...The previous "excuse" from VZ was that
...because Google Wallet did "not simply access the operating system and basic hardware of our phones like thousands of other applications," the service "needs to be integrated into a new, secure and proprietary hardware element in our phones"....

I can't see how that excuse given last December is still valid now...If i was a customer of VZ id be pitching a fit...only reason why i somewhat care is b/c the wife is. lol
btw has anyone tried the method mentioned here to get it on their device? Have to use the default android browser to do it evidently, so no Dolphin, or Chrome even...
http://www.androidauthority.com/google-wallet-for-verizon-galaxy-nexus-50922/
...How to Install Google Wallet on Your Verizon Galaxy Nexus Manually:
1. Open browser on your phone and open http://market.android.com
2. Look for Google Wallet
3. If the browser prompts you to open the Market, don’t. You should stay in the browser.
4. Once results come back, tap on the icon for Google Wallet.
5. Tap the Install button before signing into your Google account.
Remember, you are doing this from the browser and not from the Market app.
6. When you have already signed in, you will be redirected to the Market page in the browser.
7. Don’t be surprised to discover that you don’t have an option to install the app since it doesn’t support Verizon.
8. Tap the back button so you are prompted for the Browser or Market again. This time, choose the Market.
This will let you open the Google Wallet page through the Android Market. You will get the option to install already.

The method doesn't work, but there appears to be an .apk somewhere that can be installed.
I installed it successfully on my DINC4GLTE. It just does not have the permissions to allow use yet.

I tried the Nexus method (or very similar) on the nexus I had for a week before the Inc4 was released and it worked. Haven't tried it on my Inc4 but it's on my list... I'm kind of waiting for JB ROM or CM10 before I start messing around too much. It was sure nice (JB) for the two days I ran it on the Nexus!
Interesting article about Wallet working on our device:

For those that are rooted you can try the version from Modaco. http://www.modaco.com/topic/354635-region-device-root-patched-google-wallet-apk-15-r75-v6/
It will open but gives me an "insufficient secure element privileges for this system image (release keys)" error. I'm still researching this one.
