[Q] ClockWork Problem - Galaxy S II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Need a little help here, I'm Using ClockWork Touch 5.8.1.5, when I boot into recovery shim-sham, The version is at 4.1.0.5 (something around that level phones charging at the moment don't wanna disrupt it) and then I figure it should be alright, the file which I know is on my External SD isn't found, I can't progress on from there, Help would be top notch due to me baffled to hell :fingers-crossed:

Are you possible to install zips from that recovery

Cant install custom rom..Black screen on Recovery?

hey guys i cant seem to get clockworkmod recovery to work so that i can install a custom rom or kernal. I have a optimus V that i rooted with the gingerbreak.apk and then installed rom manager and installed clockworkmod threw it for the optimus V. now when i got to boot into recovery the LG logo shows and then the screen just goes black.
is there any easy way to fix this, am i doing something wrong?
thanks guys
No, you did it right, you just have an S Screen. Some ROMs and recoveries, including CWM don't show on the screen because there is an update video driving chip in your device, as it is in mine. A quick way to see that you did everything right (just not for your device) is to download "android screencast" (can't post links, but you can google, top result), enable usb debugging on your device, keep it plugged in, and reboot into the recovery. You'll be able to see the screen's output on the computer, but not on the phone. Almost made me die of laughter when I first saw it. You can use ADB to flash Xionia recovery, or maybe a quick fix is to use CWM to flash Xionia AnyKernel 14 (says it fixes the S Screen issue for ROMs, might for recovery). I want to post links to stuff directly, but can't yet cause I'm new. If you have any questions, PM me or just post back.

[Q] Dead phone, stuck.

Hello,
I'm a happy user of cyanogenmod and have loved it since the day I got it. But as I updated to CM 7.1.0 Stable mod, I've had problems with my wireless. Whenever I try to turn it on, it responds with "Error" and doesn't turn on. I can't see any wireless networks either.
I tried something from cyanogenmods forum, but with no luck, it said I had to "Format system". As I tried to "Format system", it restarted and it's stuck at the "HTC" White screen. It shows the white screen everytime I try to start it. I'm able to get into HBOOT and recovery, but I'm unsure what to do. Have I really broken my phone?
Anything I can do to get it working again? I'd love if anybody could help me here, thank you.
I'm not very good at this, so I would be nice if somebody could guide me through this.
Ok, In your possition I bet you panic a little bit? Don't worry and stay calm
First of all, i don't know what other requirements you need other than to get the rom back into your phone ie swap partition, ext partition etc, so this help is to ONLY get a rom back into your formatted phone.
You said you can boot in recovery, this is a sure sign phone is not broken, do you have clockwork mod recovery?
If you have clockwork mod still in root folder of your sdcard, your halfway to fixing your issue, if no clockwork mod, search on XDA and get the clockwork mod recovery, it'll probably be called fake-flash and it will be a zip file, might be best to get version 5.0.2.0.
Next you will need a rom, download any one you like, be it cyanogen, Blayo's froyo, ogo's gingerbread etc.
If you've already got clockwork mod on your sdcard then best to take the sdcard out, put it in a card reader attached to the computer, copy the rom zip file to the sdcard, put it back in to the phone, load up clockwork mod via recovery on your phone then flash the rom from sdcard...
if no clockwork mod, then copy both clockwork and the rom to the sdcard clockwork must be named update.zip and in the root of the sdcard, put sdcard back in your phone then follow the same flashing procedure as before. You may need to wipe data and davlik cache before flashing.
I'm pretty new to android rooting & flashing and i've had a few scares myself, the one most important thing i've discovered is to have clockwork mod recovery in the root of the sdcard, and so long as you can boot into that, you pretty much can't go wrong, unless your S-OFF, then an inexperianced user can do damage.
The other thing of importance is to either have backups (done via clockwork mod) or a fresh rom to flash on the sdcard, backups are better though because that keep all your apps and stuff intact
Good Luck
OH F*** YEAH! It started now! ranger4740, I love you!

[Q] [HELP] Verizon GS4 Rooting and Flashing Issues

So, I have never rooted or flashed a device before and I kinda dove into rooting mine and hoped to learn along the way.
I rooted my Verizon Galaxy S4 version i545VRUEMK2, I used this method from a guy on YouTube named Andre Hebra, it's his only video so if you want to see what it was you can find it (sorry couldn't post a link, I'm a forum newb) now I'm rooted but half of the superuser app is in Chinese or Japanese and its kind of annoying but I can figure out what is happening.
Now here is where I started having some trouble, I decided to try and flash a ROM to my device. I was trying to flash CyanogenMod 11 (12/26/13) Nightly (have no idea what nightly means) and I ran into a few problems that I hope some of you guys can help me with. I downloaded Clockwork ROM Manager and Installed a Recovery. I moved the .zip file from the Cyanogen website to the SD card in my phone. And also moved phone's files into a folder on my computer as a backup. I put my phone into recovery mode through the CWM app and cleared the cache and wiped the data. Now, I can't manually enter recovery boot by holding the volume up, power and home buttons, the phone boots up, the Recovery Boot message appears for a split second and then the phone turns off and boots up again into Android. I'm also struggling to figure out how to flash the ROM, shouldn't I be able to use this Clockwork app to install it from my SD card? But when I try and do that the .zip file doesn't show up in the directory. Did I do something wrong? A quick run through and tutorial would be helpful.
Device Info:
Model number: SCH-i545
Android Version: 4.3
Baseband Versions: i545VRUEMK2
I'm also having trouble navigating to the guides on this site for rooting and flashing my particular device. So i apologize if there is a guide for all of this somewhere but I couldn't find it.
What ROM

You have to make sure that you get the correct ROM for the device you have as they are many. Always if a new to rooting, write down all information from Setting>about. This is where all the most important information is. This way folks on here can help you out a lot better. It seems that you are stuck in a "Boot loop" it's not a big deal. There are a bunch of Youtube videos about boot loop check it out. I'm not that familiar with the ROM you have. Good Luck!

If you are new to all this, then you need to do alot more reading first of all if you are on MK2 base, you can not load any custom recovery except for safestrap. And with safestrap you CANNOT load any CM or ASOP based ROMS. This situation has been discuss a couple hundred times thru out this forum. You will get to learn about ODin process now as that is your only recourse.
many youtube videos on odin and search function works in XDA

update TWRP without SD card access

I am trying to revive an old evo 4G lte. I had previously updated to cyanogenmod 10.2.0 a while back, which works beautifully but unfortunately there was a bug that caused me to lose access to the internal SD card. This broke things like the camera and gallery apps, and made CWM updates impossible using goo manager. I am also unable to use ADB to move files to the phone, but I can't tell if this is a mac issue, or a phone issue. I suspect that it may have to do with the SD card problem.
Flash (no pun intended) forward to now, and cyanogenmod is no more. I downloaded the newest LineageOS for jewel (14.1), but unfortunately, I am unable to flash it because clockworkmod is outdated. I need to update CWM or install TWRP so that I can flash lineage...but...I can't seem to do this by any of the normal methods. I can't get ADB to connect. I can't update through CWM, and I can't use gooManager. My only thought is to get a flashable zip file of TWRP and flash it using CWM...but I don't know if this is even possible, much less where to find the files.
I basically don't have anything to lose on this old phone, I just thought it would be nice to get the camera working again. I know this is a pretty niche problem. I wonder if anyone has any advice? Can I convert the newest TWRP.img to a flashable zip? can I flash that using CWM? am I totally stuck?
on top of everything else, the power button has been failing badly, so doing reboots is getting harder and harder. I may just have to call it quits on this one
