Great work, congratulations.
Gr8 work... Works flawlessly.. Thank you very much
Since Samsung has decided to be non standard and not use a simple bootanimation.zip and instead use their qmg files I have no clue how to change my boot animation. I really just want the stock animation from the Nexus, not a fan of the Samsung one and figured since I am rooted etc. might as well use the Nexus one. No clue if anyone here can actually make them either, just figured I would ask.
Guess it's not possible, too bad, but oh well.
Check here
This is what I used
Oh, nice! I figured it was impossible since Samsung likes to be dumb about certain things.
I was a little confused with his instructions as first but finally got it.
This is exactly what I did step by step:
Navigate to system/media & deleted both bootsamsungloop.qmg and bootsamsung.qmg. and while still in the system/media folder paste the Nexus bootanimation zip here
Next I navigated to system/bin and deleted samsungani and while still in system/bin I renamed bootanimation to samsungani.
Now I did all of this to a ROM zip using 7zip because I prefer it this way but either way will work fine

Oh and if you want to get rid of the bootup and power off sounds navigate to system/media/audio/ui and delete the PowerOn.ogg and PowerOff.ogg files. There are four folders in here as well: BST, SPR,VMU & XAS and each of them contain a PowerOn.ogg file. I deleted the one in the SPR folder which removed the sound but since your on Verizon I'm not sure which one you should delete.
ThIs works on the stock/rooted ROM, but it doesnt work with beans ROM for some reason.
Oh good I couldn't get this to work on beans either I thought it was me lol

LOL, it's not just you.
I had a flaming skull boot ani that worked perfect until I flashed beans ROM.
Then it stopped and ABSOLUTELY NOTHING I tried would get it working again so I finally gave up.
I'm on bean's ROM and got it working just fine, now have the stock Nexus boot animation.

Did you do anything different than what it says here??
I ask because i follwed these instructions back when i did the root66 thing and it worked perfectly, when I tried the same thing with beans I could never get it to work.
Edit: NVM, I went back and tried all the steps again and now it works just fine.
I must have forgotten one step the second time, although I was almost positive I didn't.

Anyone know if removing them completely will cause any problems? Hoping it will improve boot time (not that it needs it) and battery life (a tiny bit)

Removing them doesn't hurt a thing (except that you have to reflash if you want to restore them), but there is no advantage whatever to doing that.

I guess so (i've used it for yesrs, i really don't remember)
Whatever it costs, it's worth every penny. I can't imagine NOT having it....
You must be rooted and have CMW installed ;p
All credit is in the script ;p
Have just update some files on this flash archives !
You get the stock browser.apk ... fast and with adobe flash player !
( and sync with your bookmark too )
Installation : Flash the zip ... reboot one time after ... all work great ! Enjoy the fast browser ! Ignore the script msg "for nexus7" the files inside is for XT925... just too $/%$/ to rewrite the script
It didnt work for me,my stock browser isnt any where to be found now and it keeps sying flash player has stopped working.

I am just rooted and do not have my bootloader unlocked. I downloaded the zip, extracted the three apks, pushed them into the appropriate locations, fixed permissions and rebooted. The Browser starts to login to Google, then crashes. Trying to open it again causes it to immediately close. Any ideas?
Hi there. This zip works fine only on jelly bean. But I was used to flash 4.0.4 and this zip doesn't work on it. Wanted to ask the author to make such zip for 4.0.4??? I really need this thing.
It's working fine on my 4.0.4

Hi,
Earlier today I installed CM10 on my phone and so far it's been absolutely fantastic! Very happy with it
One small problem I have is that I've downloaded some themes which go to storage/emulated/0/download (along with all of my downloads when I was on stock) - but I cannot access them? It says my download folder is empty - any ideas please?
Thanks

Thanks! I've just tried that using ES and couldn't find anything, so plugged it into my PC
Computer\GT-I9300\Internal storage\data\media does not exist
Computer\GT-I9300\Internal storage\Downloads is full of my downloads
So that looks kinda correct. However under settings, then Internal Storage, then Downloads... it's empty

Thank you, I've followed the instructions for ES and found my files, I also have them in /sdcard/downloads
The problem is, if I go to downloads (or downloads via the storage menu) it just says "No downloads"
Any ideas what I could be doing wrong please?
Its not screwed.
Download app only records new downloads afaik? It wont pick up old ones that it didn't download itself.
Would need specific error logs from /cache/recovery to even start to troubleshoot recovery issues but its nothing to do with this anyway
Sent from my GT-I9300 using Tapatalk 2
Your downloaded files are sometimes stored in the "Files" folder. Once there, open the "Downloads" folder and it should be there
Emulated/0 is the "new" way to access the internal storage. It was added for an extra layer of permission protection. It stops apps misbehaving behind your back.

Go to the My Files folder. Click All. Click Download folder. There are all the files downloaded from emails.

Have you enabled the permissions for storage in app manager?.
Have you encrypted the folder?.
Have you tried developer settings and enabling root?.
I have no idea why you've changed from stock to a custom rom. That's like trading money for dust..

I'm running 4.1.2 happily rooted and customized how I like it, I don't want to upgrade at all but I get the popup on my phone every 12 hours and it cancels whatever app I was using at the time, I want to get rid of it. I did some searching and found you should attempt to rename or delete or move BlurUpdater_vzw.apk and the odex file in /system/app but I can only copy the app, can't rename or delete using es file explorer with root permission applied. So how can I disable this annoying popup?
