[Q] Installing newer version of CWM that shows Ext. SD Card - Galaxy S III Q&A, (US Carriers)

I rooted using http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1726960 the version of CWM that is in this method has the CWM that does not show the Ext SD card. I see now there is a new version of CWM that can see the Ext SD card. Can I update this CWM with out having to use Odin and install this version of CWM since I am already at #2 on my flash counter? Thanks for the information.

If you go to Youtube and look up QBking77 he has a updated video. After he installs CWM and goes into it, it shows both SD cards. He is on sprint but the root and CWM he is using says universal for all S3 phones, other then verizon that he knows of.

Then your rom manager is probably out of date. Or you're using the wrong gapps package. Try to get a copy from the cyanogen wiki. Just Google cyanogen wiki gapps

well, i place the beta.zip from the Atrix Dev Team's site on your SD card, and then do a fastboot -w; after that, boot into recovery and install the beta.zip off your SD Card.
if you want to try Romracer's recovery, go into the development forum and download it; after that, install it through fastboot.

So I have to use CMD and Adb to install it?
Chubby_Skunk,
It would be easier for us to help you if you would pick a thread and stick to it! Not to mention you would be keeping the forums organized for anybody else who might have the same prob. We would all apreciate it.
Thanks,
Steven

you have to use CMD and fastboot to install it; your device has to be booted into fastboot mode and connected to your computer, and you have to have the fastboot package on your computer.

Isn't the error explicit enough? Your ROM Manager app is old, install the latest apk
http://download.clockworkmod.com/recoveries/RomManager.apk
I have the latest version of RomManager and I have the Latest version of Recovery. and I still get the same error message....
Why does this crap have to happen????
Any help?
sent you a PM, hit me up on AIM and we'll troubleshoot this together.
can someone explain what
"SD Card marker not found" means? I also have this error, even though I have a 32gb microsd card installed. Because of this, Clockwork puts the backup on my internal storage, rather than the sd card.

try to do a complete format of your SD card, there might be something on it that's preventing CWM from using it.

[Q] SD Card won't mount in recovery

Hey guys, I am rooted/unlocked running Jelly'Beans' Build 11 (going to build 12 tonight) and for some reason I can access my SD card while the phone is running normally, but when I boot to recovery it says I cannot mount the external SD to flash a file.
I get around this by just using the internal storage, but this is not ideal. Can anyone give me an explanation of why this might be happening, or maybe tell me how to fix it? Thanks!
either a bad sd card or you need to format the card to fat32.

If it were bad or formatted improperly, would I still be able to access and use it under normal phone conditions? I use it to save my pictures to, and I can access it from the phones file browser as well as when it is plugged into a pc.

cwm recovery does not recognize exfat. you will have move your files to a pc then format the card to fat32 if you want cwm to recognize it.

I tried switching to TWRP, but under the supported devices in CWM it only lists the Note 2 HSPA. and I am obviously on VZW. Is this ok?

This method worked for me. I am on a Galaxy S4 SGH m919. I stumbled upon this posting by doing a search. I was having a problem where my SD card is working but it wouldn't mount in recovery, so I couldn't restore back ups, of flash anything. I only had this problem after I had flashed Google Edition 4.3. I still don't know exactly what caused it, but this recovery TWRP did the trick. Thank you so much for helping me out!!

If you can't toggle usb storage on 4ext then you gave a problem with your internal or external sd, or with the cord.

Yes. You should replace twrp with 4ext. 4ext is much better. You can flash it with hasoon's toolkit.

Please do NOT double post or else you will get reported. Also, the Vibrant SGH-T959 only has a Froyo, Android 2.2 ODIN image (JFD), no Android 2.3.6 images or Gingerbread releases were ever released for this model.
