Hello,
I saw a lot of users having issues with this card but no thread could help me so far.
Just received a brand new, genuine, 64Go class 10 Sandisk card. Was recognized by the SIII out of the box. I then synced my music on my Mac with Isyncr but all of sudden, the disk ejected itself from the system.
Since then, the card is not recognized by the phone with the well know loop "card is damaged, format it" then "empty card", etc, etc....
None of the solutions I tried worked, ie :
- chkdsk /f in command
- Easeus
- Minitool partition wizard
- Installing a stock Rom
- X2fsd
- Fat32formatter
All see the disk, delete the partition or so they say but fail at building a new one
One very weird thing I haven't seen on any thread dealing with similar issues is that all the files that were synced on the Mac do show in the explorer on Windows 7, they all can be opened perfectly well, music and videos even after all the operations I ran with the above mentionned tools
Would anyone have any other lead for me ?
Thanks for your help
I had a SanDisk 64gb class 10 die on me last week. Copied about 10gb to it and then it froze. Had to get it exchanged for another one the next day as it could not be recovered by any means...
For me the one solution that worked was to format the card as fat, not exfat, then on computer format the card as exfat.
And make sure the system can read exfat(the card reader) cause my computer can't recognize my card with the phone or the reader, so I bought a new one, it worked.
Hope this will help some.
Thanks for the reply.
Bought it from Ebay (from a reliable seller : http://cgi.ebay.fr/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...eName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1497.l2649) but they're located in Korea so I don't think any exchange will be possible =(
Just tried to format it in another phone (HTC Desire) and with Gparted live bootable, no success either...
And yet after all these operations, the files synced in the first place are still here !!!!
Edit : thanks smaberg. Tried that already but failed too. My computer is just 3 months old and Win 7 shouldn't require any other driver, should it ? It reads the card perfectly as opposed to my Mac so I don't think the cpu or its reader is faulty there.
mac exfat format
i got an international s3 in brazil and bought the exact same card from ebay too...
i formated in mac 10.6.8 in exfat and used the easyUMS http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1711009
and it works great... to be honest better...cose the card just showned 58G b4..... and now it shows 63.48G
but i never synced with anything...always do by hand

I am hoping someone could answer this question since nobody has never asked before. I bought a Kingston 32GB micro sdhc card. The model number is SD-C02G made in Taiwan. When I popped in the card into the tablet, it says the card is damaged, formatting is needed. I tried to click on the format button and nothing happened. But, when I test the card on other devices (cell phone & camera & computer), it had no problems at all. No formatting or anything was needed. Does anyone have the same problem or know how to get this fixed?
I am running vegan tab 5.1.1 by the way.
Thanks a lot!

did you try to format using ur PC in Fat32?
nvm...problem is fixed now. i found out that the memory card was loose probably. Didnt come into full contact with all the pins. Thank you for your reply anyway.
I had the same issue with my new 16 gig card, I let the gtab format it, then rebooted with the card installed, have had no issues for 2 weeks now, card is full of movies and everything works like a champ!
Ok got my sandisk 32GB card from Amazon. I put it in the Gtab but couldn't format the card. Put it on my mac and saw it wasn't formatted at all so I formatted it. No go on the Gtab again... said I need to reformat but the Gtab wouldn't do it. I tried windows to format Fat32 with fast off but kept crashing during format (only showed 27Gb BTW). Searched around and came across windows based program from Panasonic/official micro sd standards site (sdformatter V3). Ran this program selecting all wipe options. The program took 5 days! Successfully finished this morning with correct fat32 so I thought all was well connected to both mac and windows I cant get files to transfer onto the card. I set up a couple media folders but once I start the file transfer it will give me error: improper disk ejection and still show folders. On windows I can get a few files to the card before I get ether "file is corrupt" or I can see that the transfer has stopped and I can see its lost connection between windows and SD card. Did I get a bad card or is there anything I can try here? BTW after that long and painful format Gtab could recognize the SD and I could see the folders I was able to make on the card.
Update:
Now a pop up window for fixing the card has come up on windows once I connected the card reader. I checked the 2 options "Auto fix file system errors" and "scan for and attempt recovery of bad sectors" has been running for 10min and progress bar is half way. hope it fix my problem!
kraftweksfit,
The 32 gig cards have worked back to the beginning as far as I have ever heard.
My opinion, but if it were my card I would return it and ask for one that is not defective.
When you get a good one, make sure it is formatted (on your PC) to FAT32. I also
have found the USB port and card slot are not plug and play like Windows. I
always change them while the G-Tablet is off to all it to search and find them on startup.

Thanks for that info. I had to shut everything down as my workday was over so now after those 2 windows fixes ran I'm just getting everything back up now at home. So Ive got multiple 2GB movie files to transfer. I still get the random "explorer is not responding" freeze issue on file transfers though. Should I just keep reformatting the card to see if it will fix the issue? Or give up on it and wipe and send it back?
trojan, I've got a question. have you tried putting more than 2 gb on the card? I can't seem to find a 32 gb version of the SD-C02G. Also have you done any speed tests on it?

That Panasonic tool is a favorite over in headfi-org - I've been using the older version for years and it actually works on a Windows VM. We used to use it on our Cowon D2 to ensure that our SDHC cards were being read properly.
For v2, if you do a quick format it should not take that long.

So you think the card just needs to be reformatted again? If so I'll try the quick option. When that program took so long I thought for sure something was wrong. BTW all references to windows are on VM on my mac as well.
Should I be worried that my Gtab can't format the card? I'm on Vegan 5.1
thanks
UPDATE:So I ran the quick option of SDformat V3 with no problems, was able to transfer one 2GB movie no problem. I went to try to move more files and instantly the progress bar for transfer does not move, "more details" tab shows est. time calculating... so my guess is windows explorer lost connection with the card. also every time I eject the card/reader windows want to fix errors which I've already run so I think this card is dead!
Bad SanDisk is on it way back, after browsing amazon I came across a Kingston 32GB micro sd with adapter class 4 for 39.99 + shipping. I went for the store front offering for 41.99 + 9.98 shipping. Best price I can find for a quality card if anyone is looking for one. http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B004QQKI0G
I recently upgraded my memory card on my Streak to a 32gb class 10.
When trying to put files (pictures and videos) on the card via the USB cable the files appear to have been copied okay, but when trying to access the files on the Streak they are either missing or corrupted.
I reformatted the card in the Streak and tried again. This had the same effect.
I transferred some files via skydrive and they worked fine. But the next time a accessed the card via USB, the files disappeared again, even though I didn't access the folder in question.
This is the second card I have tried, so I assume that the card is not the problem.
I'm running stock 2.2.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
What OS are you using?
Even though the file copy may appear complete it may not be. Make sure you use whatever steps are appropriate for your OS to eject or unmount the SD card after copying.
Using Win 7 x64...
I'll have another go and let you know.
Sent from my Dell Streak using XDA App
I've tried again making sure that I've selected Turn off USB storage from the handset and safely eject from the PC. It still happens.
The strange thing is that it even affects folders that I didn't access whilst connected to the PC (it either empties or deletes the folders).
Totally stumped on this. Could it be a problem with the card? If so, has anyone used a 32gb card that works that they can recommend?
You have tried at least 2 cards, but have you tried a different PC. Is it possible you may have "something" running on the PC causing this.

Make sure that you do those in the correct order. Safely remove from PC first, then turn off USB storage on the phone.
If you can read the card with no problems make a backup and then format the card in the phone. I have seen a lot of cases (and not just with Streaks) where issues were caused by using a card that had not been formatted while in the phone.
Where did you buy the card from? I ask because this sounds a lot like the symptoms you see with faked cards that are really much smaller than the 32GB they claim.

Hmm. I got it from Ebay. It does show as 31.2gb in windows.
This is the second card I've had from this supplier (I sent the first back because of the problems with the streak as listed above). As I had the same probs with the 2nd card I assumed the device must be at fault.
Are you sure the card is legit? you should hook it up to a card reader and loading +20gb of data and seeing if it's good
I tried transferring a load of files to the card and it stopped after about 3gb. Some of the folders were empty.
I tried reformatting in windows and noticed it was FAT32. The card will not format as NTFS.
I guess this means that the card is duff?
it definitely sounds like you got a fake, those are classic signs it's a fake
Hi, I usually dont write, but I read a lot here.
about 2 weeks ago i bought my S3, and everything was great. about 2 days ago I bought a 32GB MicroSD card (Sandisk Ultra Mobile CL10)
and put it into the phone, when I try to connect it to the computer via the USB cable, the transfer rate is extremely slow!!!
It usually just freeze about the middle and just pop-out a message that "The File could not be copied", and its the same to every file I try (regardless the type/size etc).
the strange thing is that it does the same to the internal memory!
if I take out the the MicroSD and put it into a card-reader and into a the computer it works great and transfer rate is about 20Mb/s!
is there anything I can/should do?
I know that on my old Motorola I could plug it into the computer and the SD card was shown as a "Removable Disk" and I could just copy and paste, and the S3 is either shown by a Camera or a media device... is there a way to make it as a Removable Disk?
I'm with a stock rom is that's matter.
hope I could get your help.
Thanks.

Sound like a problem i had when i got my 32gb card. for me it turned out that i had to change the usb port as the one i was using decided to be a usb1.0 port, changed port, installed drivers for a different port and it fixed my issue, dunno if it will work for you but worth a try.
also try formatting your card.

I just tried on another computer, the problem didn't occur but the transfer rate is still VERY slow...
I format the card within the phone and when I looked on the properties of the MicroSD card, under File System is written "generic hierarchical" - is that normal? is there anyway i could format it to NTFS or even FAT32? the phone will still recogsize it if i do?

Thats what mine says too, not sure which format it uses by default.
I have heard that you can format to ntfs or fat32, but i havent tried it, too scared to damage it and loose 32gb from my phone accidently, lol (ive done this before. ) but search and see.
Hi all.
Here's the situation:
I have a 32 gb Sandisk (unsure of the class) sd card I've used with 2 different phones for at least over a year now. I took the card out of my phone to connect it through my laptops built in card reader for the purpose of transferring large files (card reader speeds are much faster than usb mounting through the phone for me). When I put it in the computer Windows wouldn't recognize it. Now it won't mount in my phone at all, and it won't work correctly on my PC. When I connect it to my computer it says the card needs to be formatted before use, but then when I go to format it, it shows up on the Windows formatting screen as only having a 30.6 mb capacity and I get the message "Windows was unable to complete the format" whenever I try to format it, no matter the settings.
So my question is, how do I get the darn thing to work again? I think something must have happened between shutting my phone down to remove it and putting it in my computer. I just don't know what. Anyone else ever experience this? (I've already given up on recovering all of my files, but if it's possible to save them that would be amazing )
Things I've tried:
formatting via Windows
formatting via android
formatting /external_sd via Clockworkmod recovery
a couple different data recovery/partitioning programs (Partition Wizard and PhotoRec/TestDisk
also using "chkdsk" in windows command prompt returns saying that the disk is in the "RAW" format.
Additional info:
Phone: Motorola Droid RAZR HD (XT926) (Verizon)
ROM: XenonHD 11.01 (Android version 4.2.2, AOSP based)
Sorry if this is more lengthy than necessary, just trying to be thorough and cover all the bases!
Thanks in advance for your help!
Hello friends and happy New Year ,
I have problem and I need some assistance, if it is possible (of course ).
I have bought an Kingston UHS 3 Micro SD Card and mounted it as a Internal storage device on my Nokia 5 (Android 7.1.2) unrooted phone. The thing is as I downloaded a cache file from the Google play store, my phone froze so i turned it off, and after turning it on again, it said that my card is corrupted, and that I should try formatting it, which is, you guessed it - not possible. I got a nice message from android which goes something like this : "common 7 volume partition disk 179,64 public failed with null". So I took my card reader, placed it in my PC USB port and nothing happened. My PC doesn't recognize anything, so i went to Disk Managment, and i can see it there, but it doesn't have a "Volume Letter", so I tried giving it one, without success. DISKPART doesn't work, Mini Tool Partition Wizard just freezes, EaseUS also. To be honest, I don't care for files on my card, because it didn't had any , I just want to make it work. So if anyone has any suggestions, it would be appreciated.
P.S. I think that the card is now in "read - only" mode.
Thank you.
