[Q] GPS Does not work after flashing various ROMS

Hi there - I am very new to the Galaxy S2 and with playing around with ROMS
My phone works great with the stock ROM installed from Telecom New Zealand - no problems with GPS.
However, when i flash various roms such as Batista70 Foxhound 2.0 or AlienROM kh3, my navigation cannot pick up my location.
I'll flash back to my stock Telecom NZ rom - works fine
I though perhaps it could be a Modem issue - so when i look on the baseband version of the Telecom ROM it says xxkh1. So I've downloaded this modem bin and flashed through odin - No fix
I'm currently on the Batista70 Foxhound 2.0 ROM and would like to get GPS working on that
Any help would be very much appreciated - cheers
So are you using Batista Foxhound 2.0 with XXKH1 baseband but still unable to get a GPS fix? Or your baseband is still on KI3?
The modem file you flash through Odin have to be in .md5 format just in case you might flashed the wrong file.

No it does not just flash a tar file .

Your device cannot be updated via Kies...

Ok so i'm on a UK Sim Free Samsung Galaxy S2 and was fed up with being stuck with the official 2.3.4 firmware so i manually flashed my firmware with Odin using the official ROM and all is running perfect but my baseband version has changed and firmware version to 'XXLPQ' and now Kies won't let me use it to do any other potential future updates?? Maybe because ICS isnt released officially on UK sim free??? Plz help! Thankssss!

Why panic? As soon as an update is available it is posted on Intratech's thread. You can just manually install again

[Q] I9300 Stock ROM, Rooted - OTA JB Update ?

I have a Samsung I9300, I'm in the US, and and on T-Mobile, it has the stock ROM, but rooted with Chainfire's CF-Root 6.4. The S3 has downloaded the OTA Jellybean update, and I have postponed it for now. My question is, can I apply the update ? and then just re-root with CF-Root, or will the update fail?
Thanks
I wouldn't apply the ota as it can fail with any root applied incl cf root. You could update through kies and reapply cf root or flash the official firmware for your phone through Odin. If ya need a hand finding out which official firmware ya need do the following:-
Dial *#1234# into your keypad and post results.

It shows:
AP: I9300UBBLG2
CP: I9300UBLG2
CSC: I9300UUBBLG2
I believe that firmware is Brazilian but using sammobile.com to check for brazilian versions I dont see a JB update for any of the brazilian carriers handsets or the unbranded version :/
If u have kies you could do the update through it, it updates the same as if u flash through odin and wont wipe anything. You could also use "checkfus" from playstore it should identify your phone and firmware version and allow u too download.
I had a similar problem, and I thought I could try to get Jelly Bean by flashing a custom Jelly Bean ROM. Now I want to go back to stock ROM (flashed custom ROM's performance is awful), so I downloaded the corresponding stock ROM from sammobile, but what I found was a very large (1,2Gb) tar.md5 file and a SS_Dl.dll file.
So the question; is it normal for it to be that big? and, how do I flash it with odin... which thing goes where? which pit should I use? do I put the 1,2Gb file in PDA? should I tick re-partition? bootloader?? Please, help
(Current ROM is DarkyROM III v6.0, and my android phone is a spanish yoigo i9300, so according to sammobile my stock is I9300XXBLFB_I9300YOGBLF1_YOG)

No problem! Enjoy!
OK, a slight variation on the question:
S3 I9300 on T-mobile, stock ROM, rooted w/ CF 6.4. Can I use Mobile Odin Pro to flash the JB update that the phone has downloaded (update.zip sitting in /cache) checking everoot to keep root, and do the update this way, rather than using kies to update and the re-root?
And if so, what happens to the CWM recovery that is installed, does it get over written with stock recovery?
Thanks

Just wondering if it's possible to extract the modem from the firmware and flash it with Odin or mobile Odin?
I was also wondering, I made a nandroid backup of my original 4.1.2 ROM the only problem is it's on the new baseband which I don't have, will it cause any no baseband errors? Please help!!!???

Yu can pull a modem and flash it .

[Q] Rooted but not sure how to upgrade from 2.3.5 to latest cynanogenmod

Hey Guys,
I just rooted my S2 and want to install: http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s2/development/rom-cyanogenmod-11-official-nightly-t2604068 however it says that I "Must be at least once on stock ICS or JB before attempting!".
I don't know how I am supposd to upgrade my 2.3.5 so that this is possible...
Any advice?
Since you're rooted, install Mobile Odin Pro from Play Store, then download the 4.1.2 firmware for your I9100G by googling the term "offcial 4.1.2 stock firmware for I9100G" and downloading the zip file associated and extracting the .tar file that comes inside. Then, extract the .tar file to your SD card and go to Mobile Odin Pro app and choose to flash the extracted .tar file. It takes some time but it should update your phone to android 4.1.2 and then you can install a custom kernel for your 4.1.2 firmware which supports CWM recovery. I recommend PhilZ kernel which comes with CWM. Note that you need CWM 6.0.4.5 and above to flash a KitKat based ROM (such as Cyanogenmod 11 in your case). There you go, your phone will run the ROM you asked for and much of what I mentioned can simply be googled here and there for more details. Good luck

They didn't have them either, I used Kies to update to 4.1.2 and rooted by flashing CWM-SuperSU-v0.97.zip and it worked fine.
I've now got to find a rom that I like, originally I liked the look of the cynanogenmod 4.4 rom but im looking for a rom/kernel with the best battery life :/

If you need a 4.2.2 Touchwiz ROM, try Revolution Rom UX build 2 by tutangigi, and use stable dorimanx kernel v9.43. SuperNexus 2.0 is good too if you like stable Vanilla AOSP Android. As for Android 4.3, I used SlimBean 4.3 build 2.2. Good luck

Never heard of 4.2.2 tw rom for s2
Sent from my GT-I9100 using Tapatalk 2
A lot of various continued development and support for older roms in the s2 area which is odd to see.
I'm looking to pretty much maximise battery life, the dorimanx kernel looks to be the right kernel for me but unsure elsewhere.
What's better on battery 4.1, 4.2, 4.3 or 4.4? Does ART in 4.4 help battery wise?
