[Help] I think I completely bricked my device - Fascinate Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

What happened I was on build 38 of aokp (had devil kernel installed) and I tried to see if I could install notta's hybrid/tablet patch. I made a nandroid and figured I had Odin if anything went wrong. Well it didn't work and it didn't get passed the aokp bootscreen so I tried using notta's 3-finger bootloop breaker and well that's when things starting going really bad. I installed the cwm4 first then the aokp one then I tried installing build 40.1 of aokp. But I also installed gapps and a new devil kernel all at once. When I hit reboot now it would only boot into the devil recovery so I tried the aokp one again but now it won't leave the Samsung boot screen and now my computer won't recognize my phone. Nothing pops up on Odin either and I can't install the right drivers for Heimdall because it won't even see my device. So nothing I do is working I think I just completely bricked my phone :/

probably going to need a jig, search " fascinate download mode jig" in ebay.

I bricked my phone once. I uninstalled the drivers. Rebooted computer. Re-installed drivers and used Odin. Went ok for me.

You could also go to Device Manager, find the phone, and click Update Drivers.

You could download the drivers from droidstyle's guide or search for them on the forums. Also, you might try installing THS build 1 or 2 (also on droidstyle's guide) BEFORE you install anything else, that might prevent the boot looping problem. Also I wouldn't install so much at once, try one at a time. Hope I helped

Might have to do so. But it seems as though I can get the phone into download mode just that the phone doesn't popup on the computer at all.

Can't be done as the phone only keeps bootlooping the samsung logo. Also I can't even get into recovery because all it does it bootloop the samsung logo

Just to make sure the bases are covered, have you tried:
Different USB slot on laptop?
Different cable?
Download mode w/battery out?
Using a different computer?
Determined repeated attempts at rebooting computer, re-downloading and re-installing drivers, reattaching phone, etc., etc. until Odin recognizes the phone.........the way an insane person would do it?

You don't happen to be on win7 x64, do you?

If your phone goes into download mode, but doesn't appear in Odin, I would suggest uninstalling and reinstalling the drivers. When I've had this same problem in the past, this has always fixed it.
It seems like it's pretty hard to permanently brick these things.

Not actually true. It just needs to be a working micro USB cable. I use a generic micro USB cable (originally for a BlackBerry, I think) for all my flashing. Works fine.

Yes i tried all that with no luck i just cant get my phone connected to my laptoo if i could I
could unbrick
Check for Windoze updates if you're unable to get your PC & phone to recognise each other after trying the obvious (different USB ports, different cables, different versions of Odin, making sure Kies/its processes aren't running in Task Manager on PC. Try *all* of these).
This has solved the issue for a few people over the last week or so. Failing that, uninstall Kies from your PC, reboot, redownload it, reinstall it, reboot & try again.
If that doesn't work, try a different PC.

This method not required to connect your mobile to PC.
Just need external sdcard and ics based recovery
If you are ics recovery version , we can come from this issue.
1, download any ics ROM ( stock based ) and copy to your external sdcard.
2, root the mobile using this way
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1501719
[GUIDE] ROOT/UNROOT Stock ICS Firmware without flashing unsecure kernel
3, as per the above guide once you flashed cwm.zip , you will get cwm based recovery screen.
4, wipe system and cache
5, install the custom ROM from external sdcard
I believe this method will work for you.
All the best

I believe it won't since he bricked his device and can't even start the phone.
Do what MistahBungle said + make sure that you install Kies first so that you have the proper drivers for Odin.
i have tried this methed. copied all the files on to the sd card, inserted back into the phone put into recovery but would not read external sd card only internal comes up????
That's nice.
Now have you tried the other suggestions that have been made ? If your phone & PC can't/won't recognise each other, you need to fix that first. Forget about CW not working. It's not relevant. You're not going to fix this without an Odin flash and making that happen should be your focus/priority.

I'm having the same issue today, i flashed the siyah kernel beta and now recovery doesn't work and phone stays on Samsung logo.
I can get into download mode but pc says unrecognised device . It was working fine a few days earlier.
Unfortunately my Samsung USB cable appears to have vanished too but I don't see why my other cable shouldn't work as long as it supports data? Maybe the cable is the issue though??
Might be. Try the (many) suggestions on the first page. Any one of those could be/resolve the problem. In addition to those suggestions, you can also try uninstalling Kies on your PC, rebooting, re-downloading it, reinstalling it, rebooting & then seeing if your PC & phone recognise each other.
But definitely try those other suggestions first.

This is definitely NOT a cable issue. I have the same problem, and i too was using Siyah. It's something with the kernel.

OK have had this problem, CWM is gone bye bye - bootloop, download recovery mode possible on phone but can't connect using Odin. Right??
See this thread

You will need all the files, make sure Keis is not messing with Odin so check to make sure it's not running on the PC.
Have had this happen to me - keep the files safe and you will fix pretty much any brick u manage to do. Mine was in CM9 - dropped and battery fell out had to do the full repair job to fix.

Who said you can't BRICK an SGS2? I just did - download mode doesn't work

Long story short. Was on a custom rom. Factory Reset. Buggered everything up.
I can't get into recovery mode. And my download mode isn't working.
The original boot logo doesn't appear (with the triangle) -- it just goes STRAIGHT into download mode -- and Odin isn't recognizing the phone.
Would love for you guys to try and figure this one out lol
If you can get into download mode then there's hope. Try to remove battery for 1 minute and retry with odin, maybe replacing the usb cable can help. Also think about cleaning the phone's usb plug

What do you mean "Left it in download mode for an hour before I got to my PC"
After an hour ODIN recognized it ?
That doesn't make any sense.
I have no issues getting it into download mode. The USB cable works fine. The drivers work fine. ODIN just isn't recognizing the phone once it's in download mode.
When the phone is off, and when you go into download mode, usually the start up / initial logo comes up with a triangle. In this case, it doesn't. When I turn it off for 30 mins and turn it back on and try to get into download mode -- it goes STRAIGHT to download mode (no initial login screen)
I have never encountered anything like this in all my years with android phones and hacking them.
Samsung sucks.
Just in case, if using a laptop, have you tried to power it off, remove the battery and wait a couple of minutes to fully remove all memory in the usb chips?
Guess in my case it was a soft brick. Try the USB Jig. You can search on the forum how to make one if you don't have the time to order one.

I am not sure it's the drivers. Why? Because my friend who works beside me has the drivers installed. He put his phone (exact same phone) into download mode and it connected fine. This means his drivers work.
It would do nothing when i connected while in download mode.
the jig is the last resort.
If the jig doesn't work, is it possible I am the first ever to brick a phone galaxy phone?

Ps. May I ask WHEN and WHERE did you read GS2 is unbrickable?
there's a lotta people including myself who have had our galaxy s2's superbircked in the past (not fixable unless you replace mobo)

pull out your battery an wait a while than try to enter to download mode if not work try again with an other battery (of your freind for example )
or you can just try this solution be found here

yes usb jig this your last chance
good luck
Most of the time, though, the battery removal trick is sufficient, and most said "superbrick" would be fixed
if using adb.
You have to really screw things up to brick the phone, if using the good kernels/roms together...

[Q] Confirmation on whether this is bricked or not?

My friend handed me his samsung galaxy SII believing that I could fix his problem. He rooted it, and started going ROM crazy. Needless to say he broke it. I thought I could fix it, maybe it was a simple bootloop issue or what have you, but the phone won't even get recognized on my computer. I can set it into ODIN mode, but it won't get recognized by my computer, even though I downloaded the samsung usb drivers. It won't show up in ODIN, and It won't enter recovery mode either for some odd reason, so there's no chance of me loading something through his SD card. Whenever I turn it on normally it's stuck at a battery screen with a circle as if it were loading the battery, but it never finishes.
I'm pretty sure it's bricked, but I want to be sure before I tell him to buy a new phone.
The only information I can get out of it is that it's a SHW-M250K
thank you in advance.
mmmmm ask your friend if he converted it to an I9100.

But you can enter DL mode, so that's your window.
You need to get your pc to see the device, we git plenty of tricks for that. Haven't you bumped into any of them?
Try other odin versions/usb cable/usb ports/clean kies uninstall and re install, try another pc and do it all over again.
You can also disable the antivirus if you like.

[SOLVED!!!!]Can enter download mode but not recovery mode.

Hello,
I ran this tar file through odin: forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2322046 but the flash failed for some reason. Then when I restarted my phone, it got stuck on this screen: Firmware Upgrade encountered an issue. Please select recovery mode in kies & try again. I tried reinstalling drivers, kies, killed anything related to Samsung or kies, another usb port, another tar, redownloaded tar, ran odin through administrative permissions, and nothing worked. I know I can recover my phone since it boots up, but Idk what else to try. Any help is appreciated!
OMG, it is flashing now! It was the damn USB port! I knew something was up, but just couldn't put my finger on it. Actually, come to think of it, the port wasn't detecting a flash drive I had a few months back, but suddenly started to. Also, that port DID recognize my phone, but it kept failing the flash. Anyone know why?

[Q] S3 Stuck on samsung logo after attempted update to 4.3

I have an unrooted Samsung S3, i just received yesterday the notification of the jelly bean 4.3 update (originally ran on 4.1.2) so i went for it OTA via wifi, long story short, after download was finished and the phone automatically rebooted itself, it got stuck on samsung logo, i have waited for hours beside it (since i have modest experience about this) and finally nothing happened, so i started researching the issue, i have tried wipe data/factory resetting (didn't work) along with wipe cache partition, and no use, i have tried kies emergency firmware upgrade and initialization, but it can't see the phone in Download mode, i tried flashing the phone with Odin307 but it also cannot see my phone in Download mode, and i have heard that if the phones usb debugging was active, the phone would be seen, but i never used it, my phone was stock all the way, please help me get my phone working again.
Make sure kies is completely shut down and retry. You could also try reinstalling driver's and Odin and different USB lead or different PC/laptop
please check in device manager if you can see your device , try reinstalling the device drivers, try different cable or it could be charging port .. Good luck ..

actually i have done all of that, i ran odin while kies was completely shut down (killed all kies from task manager) and downloaded latest drivers from samsung and installed them, tried 3 different wires on 2 different PCS, still my phone cannot be seen inside odin or kies
that is why i'm frustrated
is it possible to use the option "apply update from external storage" from system recovery menu? since my phone cannot be seen by any software, and if possible to use that option, what are the files that i should add to my MicroSD Card? and from where should i download them?

Thank you so much for your suggestions, but actually none of the above, i have done the fix that i was asking about (recovering from external card), its a twisted fix but it worked for eventually, i have added the Android 4.3 file (1.43 GB) to my Micro SD Card, and started recovery mode, and went for that option, the device started reading it, and then restarted itself but still stuck on samsung logo, but what i have noticed is that this time when i hooked up my phone to pc, the sweet sound of discovering my phone played, so i know that now i could use odin or even kies, so i went for odin, it recognized the phone, flashed it with the version i downloaded, and it worked. what a relieve
