blurry closeup images? - HTC Amaze 4G

Pictures look normal except for close ups, the autofocus will do its thing and when its adjusting, for a split second its crystal clear then keeps adjusting and goes blurry. Pictures look great from normal difference. I tried with flash on and off.

Try focusing it on a specific object close up with your finger before taking the pic.

Have you tried the Macro (close up) scene setting? I just tried it and it works great.

This helped a lot, It seems as if only in "real light" will it focus properly.

[Q] Camcorder and camera focus question

When using the camera, try setting it to "Macro" in the Scenes selection. As for the camcorder, it might take a little time for it to focus on something up close.
I tried macro setting already but it didn't make a difference. How close can you get to lets say page with text on it so you don't lose focus?

I can get right up to 3 inches away, which is about as good as you're going to get with a camera on a phone. Lighting has a lot to do with it as well I think.
well I got the camera to work, I didn't hold the button to focus duh! but the video camera still does not focus upclose. Is the focus automatic or is there a way to focus manualy? How close can you video something with focus?

I think someone has mentioned before that the camcorder on the Atrix is NOT auto focus or continuous focus. It probably won't do close ups.

[Q] Camera picutres come out darker in gallery vs on screen?

Hey guys, I haven't seen this question asked outside of the CM7 Thread.
I have UnNamed 1.1.0 Which to my knowledge is identical to stock when it comes to the camera aspect.
When I'm taking a picture it will look great on screen but when I go review it in the gallery it looks almost twice as dark. Almost like the shutterspeed is too quick and wont let enough light in. Outdoors the problem isnt too persistent. Just indoors. I'm going to try another gallery app and see if that help but doubt it will. Anybody else notice this?
I was actually playing with the camera last night and noticed this.
Tried adjusting the ISO and exposure and it helped a little. I noticed that after viewing the picture though, it still turns out a few shades darker than it does in the live view. Not sure what thats about.
I'm seeing this issue as well. Any resolution?
I noticed this too, not only that but there is a slight delay from when you hit the shutter.
Seems like any movement screws up the picture as well.
I think the brightness discrepancy has to do with the screen brightness settings.... try setting your brightness way up, then take a photo and see if your exposure "gets darker".... it should be the same as how it looked when you took the photo...
I think when you take a photo, the camera app automatically brightens the screen to the Max... then when you go to review the photo, your screen brightness settings take over... since most of us use the phone NOT at the highest setting, it makes the exposure look dark....
The same theory goes for anyone editing photos... I always brighten my screen when I edit the photos...that way I'm not adjusting a photos exposure if it doesn't really need it... this needs more practice though as I don't edit often and could be wrong ...
If you're having lag in the shot... try turning off the anti shake option... you might think anti shake can ONLY be good but I find that my photos are fine without it.... but I also know to not try to take photos in dungeons...
Thanks ill try it

[Q] Camera app that will enable to take photos one after another, like in iphone

Hi,in my SII,I take a photo and I must go back to take another...
In my friend's iPhone,he can take a several photos in time I take one.
How do I change it?
Thanks.
I don't have to go back, after taking a photo I can just take another one, so I don't quite get your problem....
When I take a photo, the next screen that shows up is the photo that I just take.
In iphone,I have the ability to take another photo because the photo that I just take are saved...

How did you manage that? I find it annoying how the picture disappears as soon as I take it. I've looked through all the camera settings but cant find how to leave the picture on the screen.
K if you turn review on you will see the pic you just took, review off let's you take multiple pics.

There is no such option in my phone's camera settings. I only have the following:
edit shortcuts,
self portrait,
flash shooting mode,
scene mode,
exposure value,
focus mode,
timer,
effects,
resolution,
white balance,
iso,
metering,
outdoor visibility,
anti shake,
auto contrast,
blink detection,
guidelines,
image quality,
gps tag,
save as flipped image (grayed out),
storage
and reset.
Is there another set of settings that I have missed?
could it be the Rom I'm using (Simple+&+Clean+v1.3)? however, I've used other Roms in the past and have never seen this option

between guidelines and image quality, I have a 'Review' option. Set the Review option to OFF.

[Q] can the laser focus be disabled?

I am getting really frustrated with the auto-focus "feature" on this phone. Is there any way to disable it so I can actually focus on what I want to take a picture of? Some sort of macro mode would be super helpful. Is there a setting somewhere that I missed?
Do you have the options on the screen when you take a photo? Otherwise, just tap on your target to take the picture with them/it in focus. Otherwise, use the Magic Focus feature to adjust focus after the picture is taken.
Aside from that, to do manual focus, you'll have to use another app, like Focal or any other camera app.

Put the camera in the mode where the shutter is on the side. Then you just tap on whatever you want to focus on in the screen, it focuses than you hit the shutter button.

Oh yeah! Derp!
Idk. But u must try focal app for more difficult shots. It gives tons of exposure zoom and filter options.
Okay, I finally got it. Thanks very much. At first I was never leaving it in "option" mode, I would always go back out of it before taking pictures. I totally missed this until you mentioned it.
To clarify in case anyone else is unclear:
-click the "3 dots" button at the top of the camera screen to open up the options mode.
-In addition to the various mode, settings, etc. buttons at the top, there will also be a shutter button at the bottom.
-In this mode, the shutter button will take the picture, and touching anywhere else will create a focal point.
I went all through the pdf manual and didn't see anything at all about this.
Too dark if i have even a bit light in front of camera
Still cant find a good option to make a photo when i have even a bit light towards me. It shows totally dark at the shadow part. Exposure doesnt go as i want. Does it have also a Manual Focus?

I don't know if this is what you're looking for, but if you tap the three-dot so that the options come up, wherever you tap on the screen I believe is where it'll focus on, then use the camera button at the bottom to take the picture.

I know what u mean but still doesnt make a big difference about focusing when i want. And i meant...exposure. If there is a tree in nature and is sunny weather and under the tree is dark coz of shadow...and i want to focus exposure in that dark part...coz there is a flower or a rabbit...this exposure doesnt work. I dont mind if the tree becomes overexposured. I hope u understand me. Thank u for replying.

If the manually choosing where to focus in the stock camera app isn't doing the job, I'd try a third-party camera app. It sucks it won't use the laser focus but there's a chance a more professional app would do the job. At least if you buy a good app you can test it right away and refund it quickly (limit was 15 minutes but it might've increased again - I can't keep track). Good luck! I'm sure we'll all appreciate your findings if you experiment. You're welcome!

Question Night mode on 10x is garbage

Has anyone noticed too much noise on the 10x lens in nightmode?
Ummmm...f/4.9 apperture, what do you expect from a 1/3.52" sensor.
The perisope is a lens for good (day) light.
You wouldn't shut your Canon 250mm f/5.6 at night without tripod.

The telephoto lens' aren't meant for nightography. Use 1x at night.
Install camera assistant then go into the stock camera settings and do the following...
Camera Assistant
Auto lens switching
Toggle auto lens switching off
This has you truly using the lens you've selected. Cause ordinarily the camera crops the main lens in sometimes even when you choose 3x or 10x lens. Ridiculous! Makes the zoom grainy as hell

They are both there.
Camera Assistant is accessible through settings, near the bottom.
Expert Raw is one of the available modes, like Night and Portrait. Scroll the modes until you see More. Tap, and you'll see the additional modes. You can move them to the main screen if you want.

Ok , but you need to download these first in order to see their menus inside camera app. AND when you try to move Expert raw in main menu camera, you can't because the Expert Raw button becomes grey
