Screen battery drain... - AT&T Samsung Galaxy S II SGH-I777

[Q] Screen battery drain. It seems that my battery is being sucked down by the screen. I've done my research for two days, but no avail. Does anyone know how to fix this, and what the heck is going on!?

Turn your brightness down and also under display there's a setting that says adjust power for screen or something like that unchecked that option.
Sent from my SGH-I777 using xda premium

I did all that and its still like this. I think its the ics upgrade.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I777 using xda premium

Its totally normal dude. The screen sucks a lot of power. That's just a fact. Auto brightness might help, but nothing I see in your screen shot is abnormal.
Btw, why do you have 3 battery icons in your notification bar??
Sent from my coffee pot.

Actually I fixed it! Its a very long story, but I had to factory reset, and some other stuff. Have three cause I installed three... lol! You have this problem before?

What did you do to fix it?

Its complex. I actually don't know what I did. All I can tell you is to factory reset, go to clockwork mod, he usual if your going to install a new rom, except this time clear battery stats. Then when you restore. Restore each app one by one, and check battery as you do it (to see if it affects). Then you can enjoy yourself. See if that helps you...
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I777 using xda premium

what most people don't understand is those numbers (the percentages) will always all add up to 100%. It's a percentage of the current battery life that has drained. The screen is the biggest usage as that's what it was during this cycle.
So you have 63% battery life left so 73% of the drainage from 100% to 63% is due to the screen...get it?

I too found that Maps was eating away on my battery so i just froze it in Titanium Backup and have seen a noticeable increase in battery life.
There's an insane amount of bloatware packaged with the S2, and for some reason they have certain programs running all the time, eating away at your battery.
As suggested above, freeze it with Titanium. And if you haven't already, check out the APK List [search for it], which will help you decide what bloatware to uninstall, if you haven't already.
Sorry four my ignorance but I need to be rooted right? Cools you give a noob a nice tutorial to root the phone?
Sent from my GT-I9100 using XDA App
From this screenshot everything seems normal. Your batterie is almost full, so from this point of view it's normal that it eats up 14% of the total.

Read, read, and then read some more, before you do anything. Try and make sure everything is in order before you go through with the process.
Good luck :]

Why would out be normal to eat up 14% of my battery if out isn't even on?
Sent from my GT-I9100 using XDA App
Ok! Rooted in about 10 seconds eheh. Bought titanium pro and froze maps. Uninstalled crappy samsung bloatware and hopefully tomorrow i'll see a battery improvement. Thanks again for all the help.
You're most welcome. Glad to hear everything went well.
Turn off wireless networks location tracking and Maps' battery use will go down.
Also folks in case you haven't seen this, highly recommended.

Because you say this:

And so far as I can tell your batterie is almost full. The 14% is relative, it is based on the amount of juize already used. Based only on this screenshot I don't see a problem.
If you never had maps opened and running in the first place then that's a different situation then the one your prescribed.

It's most likely Latitude. I was seeing similarly inexplicable Maps use until I signed out of the sack of kack Latitude app. Hugely improved battery life!

no problems mate it works 100% a moderator should make this a sticky for anyone having battery drain.
Yeah Latitude always updates the location, thus waking the phone and accessing the Maps

Does this app work I keep hearing great things but I've tried and either it didn't work or I didn't get it. Any advice? Thanks

It really makes a huge difference. All I use us the mobile data option, and I get an average of about 75% increase.
Yes it does. I've done a couple battery calibrations and use j/d and also see a pretty decent improvement. Not to mention using bi-winning 3 with the baling 1.8.8 kernal!!!! Great combo.

If only there was something about battery life? A guide maybe with apps that could be downloaded.
Actually I have a detailed explanation on how Juice Defender works on post #3 and a copy of the free version.
Well this is what I get without turning off data or wifi just undervolting. No other special apps that's y I'm wondering.

I don't know why, but Juice Defender wrecks my battery life. It keeps it from entering deep sleep so I've stopped using it. My phone is probably one of the unlucky few though.
Ya so I tried this on my G1 and never worked then I tried it on my vibrant and wrecked my battery also I was just always wondering if I didn't have the right settings on or something so I just forgot about it and move.on

No offense but that's not a good battery life picture, your phone is idle too long, for a real comparison you have to use your phone, I've gone 17 hours before, and still had about 10% left and that was after a day of playing dead space and gta 3 all day

I'm not an expert but it looks like.... Ummmm.... Yeeeeeaaaa you charged your battery during thus timeframe so it's not a true reading. That's why there's an Upsweep in the power consumption graph. It won't do that any other way unless I'm not privy to a new technique

High cpu usage for device idle and android.process.acore

I have some really weird issues.
I left my s3 in plane mode and charged overnight. In the morning, I unplug and left for work. After an hour, I noticed a battery drain where the device idle is using 74% and from betterbatterystats shows netd is using nearly 100%.
I switched off and only on it after work and now I noticed a high usage for android.process.acore.
Anyone experienced this as well? What can I do to resolve this?
Sent from my GT-I9300 using Xparent ICS Blue Tapatalk 2
Screen shots please.
Also if your phone is idle in airplane mode then phone idle will obviously be the biggest consumer of battery.

This is what I was saying. Charged and in plane mode. Plane mode for 8 hours and drop 8%. Is this normal? I thought plane mode should not drop so much?

That's normal. I was concerned at first, now I don't even charged my phone sometime for 3 days

In better battery stats you need to be looking at kernel wakelocks and more importantly partial wakelocks. Process shows absolutely nothing wrong or out of the ordinary.
Sent from my GT-I9300 using xda premium
icic... thanks everyone... I thought something was wrong.. as in flight mode, usually the battery life will not drop so much.. so I'm rather concern is there something that's causing the drain.

Put up screenshots of partial wakelocks and kernel wakelocks so we can have a look.
8% does seem kinda high for airplane mode, mine drops about that on wifi with all sync on over the same amount of time.

Try to use other governors and schedulers, turn off mobile data when not in use, use the 'greenify' app. It hibernates apps. Use your phone after full charge until it almost dies
