I just noticed that there's a new crop of roms on Nokia Care, the 8779.12221, available for Thailand and Vietnam (RM-801) and Thailand (RM-819)...
Are those Language-related only roms, or there's additionnal fixes?
Yeh, just notice this right now. We just have to wait until some user test it.

The 8779 should have the GPS Icon. But I guess we have to wait for someone to test them.

I tried the Viet version on Lumia 800
Hi,
I found the rom too and decided to install it. It was pretty easy, as usual. After installing, I found that it contains all languages you can find on an "official" rom (english, french, spanish, etc etc). I didn't see any GPS icon as mentionned above, only a Viet Keyboard (Yes, I tried the Viet version). I also had a bad surprise when I discovered that in the Marketplace, the Nokia Collection and my Provider Collection were removed, so if you plan to install any apps provided by Nokia or your Service provider, go away, you can't.
I didn't notice any other change on my Lumia, the battery life is the same, no sounds bugs, internet browsing pretty fast like before, so I simply suppose that this Rom is a bug correction...
I will try the Thailand version later, will inform you all.
:silly:
12221 Thailand Version on Lumia 800
I just installed the Thailand version of this new Rom and it's quite different of the Viet one. The marketplace is back to normal, including the Nokia collection and the provider's one. Some applications are also "built in" within the rom: Foursquare, The Weather Channel, TuneIn Radio.
Everything works perfectly but still no "GPS Icon" as mentioned before. Now my Lumia 800 has firmware version 1750.0805.8779.12221.
I will use it for a while and inform you guys if I have any issues with this rom.
Last info, for your information, my Lumia 800 is branded and not unlocked.

This is a known problem. Going into the Gaming Hub and waiting for your Avatar to load usually makes the OEM Collection reappear.
Anyone else who tried the new firm can relate?

Apparently MS are showing it off already and claim it works on existing hardware.

Id love to have this I guess the wait begins.
looks nice, but which bit of "Nope, it's not Windows Mobile 7 / Photon, " do you not understand.
This is WM6.1, not WM7!!
looking forward to it anyway. WM6 was a vast improvement in stability and function over wm5, and hopefully this will be more steps in the same direction.
If the linked story regarding the carousel UI is true, it might be the first major change to the basic today functions since pocket pc 2000! Much as i love WM and the sheer magnitude of the things i can do on it, the design does suck!

Therefore, WM6.1 is only for smartphone and not for ppc. It's a WM smartphone version. (not touchscreen also)
If they release 1 ver. of it they will release all 3. Givem time..
yes wm6.1 is coming to ppc. it wont just look as good as the smartphone version. or atleast i dont think it will. we'll probably get everything except the home screen carousel.
Interesting
interesting topic. I would love to know if 6.1 will be available for ppc as well. and if so, how would it look like and is it worth the upgrade.

I've been trying ti get an Ameo for the longest. Is there any way I can get one sent from the UK. I know in the US T-Mobile doesn't even carry it. T-Mobile's phones suck over here. All the good stuff is on the other side of the world. Lol. Is there any loophole that I can slip through and get this phone for 50 american dollars?
Update on WM6.1
WM 6.1 has been released for pocket pc. I'm running it on my Axim X50V and it's extremely fast (with proper caching tweaks). It uses up less memory than 6 and they've added in a new task manager.
thats not really an update mate
we have been running 6.1 on the athena since aprl
Looks like HTC has prepped their site with the official Fuze ROM update but showing a release date of 5-28-2009… Hmmm, their going to make us wait? To get the ROM, you will need to enter your device S/N (not accepting mine at the moment so I must also wait)

* HTC Music player supports Album art/info

It is kinda funny.... This is also happening at the AT&T forums. LOL!
I would rather it be a HTC build than an AT&T. You just know that this ATT rom is gonna be like 60% ram usage, and take 5 minutes to turn on.
Cant Beat Da_G's Clean Fuze Rom: 25% memory usage, and boots in >1 minute.
Anyways, just wanted to rant a little.
True... only thing it will be good for is new driver(hopefully) and new radio..
I'll pass
I'm sure this is an update to the "leaked" 6.1 at&t rom anyway, but, I thought most of us have moved onto 6.5? I know I did & wouldn't look back.
You never know, the OEM's could be updated too
It's rather random if you get new OEM's in a ROM or not, i've seen plenty of brand new ones come with ooooold OEM's, and some older ROM's with new ones! lol
/me spins the roulette wheel
Radio Vertion seems interesting
anybody who can help to draw it
Weeks ago I was on their website and saw, that it is already available for a long time. Buddy who has a Z3 Tablet mentioned last month he got his update, but my Tablet and the PC Companion software tell me everytime that my Tablet is up to date!
Last time I thought I had a great idea, I went for the kinda repair-y option you can choose in PC Companion, where the software downloads the current Android system, wipes your device and installs the newest Android. Of course I backed up my apps before that with PC Companion.
What was the result?!
I still got Build 230.1.A4.30
And thanks to that experiment I had a lot of things to reconfigure, that I configured perfectly to my needs over the months. If my Tablet was rooted, I would have just used TitaniumBackup or the likes and not trusted the PC Companion...
What gives?!? Do I now only have the option to finally root my Tablet and use only custom roms? And that after not even a year of owning it?!
Have a look at my screenshot, please:

As discussed on Android-Hilfe, LP is still in the distribution. You will just have to wait,or follow the instructions to update manually.
According to XperiFirm, for SGP512 model (32GB/WIFI), Lollipop is deployed about everywhere in the world except Japan and one group of European countries (FR/DE/... etc.) which are excluded for unknown reasons (does anybody knows why???)
Personally, I installed manually the UK firmware for now using FlashTool (but I'm waiting Japanese update...).
yep i also have the same problem...i purchased the tablet from germany and i am still stucka at 4.4... i hope i get lollipop soon. I also have a display problem...i noticed a little dots when i use black backgrounds...anyone seen this yet?
Got this problem too..it sucks. @masasume would there be a tutorial available for install manually??
me too, i did a downgrade, make it root, and flash a version from outside GER like UK, now my tab has lollipop

Updates are usually released according to regional areas.
You need to wait until Sony uploads the latest firmware and make available for you in your region.
There can be difference of a month or two between other phones update and yours.
The spots on your screen can be dead pixels OR it can be dust particles. Using AnTuTu benchmark take a screen test and check for dead pixels. Play store link is below;

Faulty pixels never show in screenshots, for obvious reasons.
I think they are stuck pixels. I have a bicycle GPS and after a drop, a few pixels on the screen always stayed the same color. Funny enough when I gave the GPS a good "spanking", the pixels went back to normal.

My SGP612, Z3 Tablet Compact from Japan(I think, via eBay) 32GB Wifi, has said that it's up to date via the "About Tablet" settings and the Sony software on Windows and Mac ever since I've had it. Never got the 5.0 Lollipop and now the 5.1 is being released and nothing. Is there something easy that I was supposed to do here or does anyone know any little tips or tricks for this? Thanks very much.
Up to date, 5.1 release is only for: Italy and Benelux regions, speaking of model 612.
But you can flash it manually as I did. Works perfectly, though my region is Central Europe.

Agreed we shouldn't have to but things don't always work out that way.
It is great that we have options and contributors such as @sebarkh to step in with advice that I would never figure out on my own.
I am in the UK and likewise watching out for the update. If it fails to materialise OTA then I am reassured that there is a manual solution. But so far I am very impressed by what Sony is doing both in terms of hardware offerings and ongoing software support. Samsung needs to take heed.

You're definitely right. I'll eventually stop being lazy and just do it myself for sure, just hoping I won't have to. I do really like what Sony is doing too. Hoping for a Z4/5 Ultra this year! Thanks for your help guys!
Luckily the 5.1 update came today for me over wifi, which was nice cause I didn't feel like using the desktop software. Looks great!
Just wondering if I am alone in waiting on the UK OTA update to 5.1.1?
If, for some reason, I have missed the boat then I shall follow sebarkh's advice and use XperiFirm. Otherwise I am happy to wait a while longer for Sony to get round to us.
Hi, I am now able to answer my own question. Yesterday Sony OTA upgraded my UK OS to v5.1.1
So I can defer rolling up my sleeves and getting my hands dirty and possibly voiding my warranty for a while. The need for Root is becoming quite pressing though.
Just stay on 4.4 because the 5.1.1 update sucks! There is no change regarding the throttling issue when brightness is above 50% or when you have automatic brightness activated so, the intermitent lag is stiil present.
Sent from my SGP611 using XDA Free mobile app
It solved all of the bugs that effected me though. :/
No throttling for me anymore on 5.1.1

Looks like from the information he gave you, the build number will look something like 23.1.D.0.485. I've done mad searching around for any of the unique numbers or information he gave in screenshots and I could find absolutely NOTHING, so definitely not on the internet somewhere. Fact that he's connected to and HSPA network in Vietnam is curious, too. Didn't know the Z3v had that type of capability.
