I know a friend who does. His names Google. Him and search hang out together. it's under settings-Wi-Fi- mobile networks. Well depending on your Rom it may be different.

Hey guys, I have a rooted Thunderbolt that I'm selling but I was going to sell it with Gingeritis3D on it.
If I reflash the ROM, it will allow its new owner to setup their account on the phone and use it as their own, but I got stuck wondering that if they could even activate it while this ROM was installed.
While Gingeritis3D is the running ROM on this phone, can it be activated online or via customer service line?
If not, how could the phone be activated?
Sent from my ADR6400L using xda premium
It should be able to be activated. They will need to do it over the phone with customer service.
Sent from my ADR6400L using Tapatalk 2
Thanks man, I knew I would probably receive my answer from you. Lol.
If it can't be activated after calling customer service, does that make it obviously rooted to them or does it throw up some sort of red flag?
Oh, and can they activate it on the SIM card that's in it or will they need to get a new one?
I have no use for the SIM.

You will need a new sim and they won't know its rooted if it won't activate. Just download a sense 2.1 ROM and use it to activate if you have any issues but I don't think you will.
Sent from my ADR6400L using Tapatalk 2
Alright.
I can go up to Verizon and get another SIM for it that will work for whoever buys it, right? Or do they have to go get one themselves?
I just know they can't take it in there and let them put it in since it would be rooted.
...Or does it even matter to them since the phone has no warranty anyways?
Sent from my ADR6400L using xda premium
It wouldn't matter anyway and yea you could just take it in there and get a sim. Just make sure its a corporate store and not a retailer because they will charge you for a sim.

And though it's rooted and no warranty, they will put a new one in it and activate it?
Sent from my ADR6400L using xda premium
Yea. They'll note it more than likely that there is no warranty since its rooted and sold to another person. They know my phone is rooted and it hasn't caused me any problems and I use up gigabytes of data with wireless tether.

It can also be done online with no problem. That's how I activated mine with someone's test Rom on it. All you need to do online is enter the esn and the sim card number to register and activate the sim card.

But I'm sure they could do it this way as well.

Gotcha! Lol.
I'll go by Verizon and pick up a SIM card for the buyer I suppose, and I'll just tell the person at Verizon that I'll activate it myself online... just to be safe.
Or does the SIM have to have a specific number in relation to the new owners account or phone number?
Should I go get the SIM or should I let the new owner get it?
Sent from my ADR6400L using xda premium
Umm. Let them get it. They are only gonna give you one for your own account. This should not be an issue. It should be a given that you get your own sim when you buy a used phone. If they expect you to provide it id say they aren't very inteligent.

Those are the access point names and each one has settings to connect to data and voice networks, depending on what sim card is in the phone.
It looks like you have a 4G at&t sim card and have the LTE access point selected, which is correct.
Thanks guys is all I need to know

Hi
I just use a other cdma sim (not verizon) but the phone always put me in roaming while its local network
The gsm works fine
Any ideas why this is happennig?
And what shall i do to make the sim local?
Anyone in same situation here?
Cdma is different than gsm. You can't just pop in a sim and it'll work.

No, because one, there's a good chance the frequencies of the carriers don't match and two, the new carrier has to manually 'accept' his DNA, and unless you find someone who's about to quit their job to do it for you, it won't work.

Try going to settings and clicking on the mobile data icon to go into its settings and click data roaming. Might increase data charges but you might have data.

Are the APN settings correct? Please check them and make sure the APN for your carrier is entered into your phone.

Hey guys I was messing with some modems and I think I flashed the wrong one and now I can't get signal to make phone calls. Does anyone have a link to the Verizon modems so I can get my signal back. I also tried restoring a nandroid backup but it restores with no signal. Oh yeah is the radio the same as the modem? Thanks.

Right on man! I'm up and running again. Thanks a million, just wondering what's the difference with the different radios?
I flashed all 3 radios and all 3 just give me a 3g signal. Maybe its because I'm indoors, idk, I'll see what it looks like when I step outside.

They were just the radios that were included in the VZW updates, most times there is little difference.
It really depends on what area you are in and how strong your tower is, everyone experiences something different.

Yo bro, um the radios are great but all I get is a 3g signal all the time. I thought if I went outside I might see a 4g but nothing. Is there a 4g radio around where you can point me to. I tried to Google it but it just shows me the radios I already have . I'm in San Francisco and I always get 4g but now just the 3g.

They are all LTE/CDMA/EvDO radios. You should check mobile settings and make sure you have it set to either Global or LTE/CDMA/EvDO. If that doesn't work we need to know what ROM you're on to begin with.
