So I'm still on Unnamed, I love the feature that allows me to skip songs in the music player by holding down the volume up or down buttons. Which is why I haven't upgraded. My question:
Is there any ICS Rom that has this feature (I've searched but maybe I missed something)?
If there is no rom, could someone add this feature to an existing one?
Would be greatly appreciated. Thanks for the responses in advance.

Jkay deluxe settings supports this feature on any rom that his framework will install on. I've gotten it to work on Mystic's and shostock's roms.

yes it's built into most ROMs nowadays, and into some of the ROM tweaks packages, like the ones made by j4n87.

Can I use the tweak package on stock ROM?
I know those Leedroid tweaks are Sense 3.0 roms only--does anyone know if there's a flashable zip to get long-press volume controls (instead of screen wake) on Sense 3.5 roms?
I'm on Eternity, Sense 3.5.
Hi,
I may be being really dense, but I can't find an option to remove/change the toggles in the notification area... I use some (like wifi, bluetooth, brightness), but have no need for ones like power saving, sync etc.
Can anyone point me in the right direction please?
Thanks!

I'm assuming you are on stock rom, if so you cant. Custom roms like Omega have 15 toggle mod you can add or remove whatever you like.

Thanks for the answer
Yes I am currently on stock ROM - I used CM9 nightlies for ages on my S2 but didn't like them as much as the S3 stock. Maybe I'll try Omega (have recently installed the kitchen part of it anyway)
Would you say Megga is better than CM in your opinion?
It's impossible to say if a rom is better or not. I've been using AOKP roms on my galaxy S II but I can now say I like original Samsung roms more on the S III, I even use touchwiz which would've been unthinkable on the S II. I'm on Omega Rom. It's basically stock but with upgrades. Been using other roms for a few hours too because Im a flashaholic but keep Nandroid-ing back to Omega. First time Samsung did a great job on interface IMO
Well that sounds good, I'll give it a go later, thanks
Out of interest, does Omega have the ability to cancel an app by long-press of the back key? That's something I miss from CM9...
Fyi, here's how to change/remove the toggles...

No, it doesn't but as you probably know, long press home and press Task Manager let's you kill tasks.
I liked the idea of long press back key, but was never happy with the execution - I was constantly killing apps that I didn't want to by tapping back too quickly. Clearly CM wasn't checking that you were holding back, but rather that it was pressed at the start and end of a certain time period.

Thanks for the reply... I actually used it a lot with CM9 and found it very useful, but not the end of the world to not have it!
Hello.
I am trying to find a way to add more things into the AOSP lockscreen. I've spent hours searching for a post to help to no avail. I have seen a lot of roms with more options than just the camera and unlock options but I'm just not feeling the roms themselves. If anyone could help direct me to a post I'm overlooking or help guide me on how to accomplish this it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.
Or you could wait for 4.2 to release with lock screen widgets...

Very first post so I let it go this time.
1. If you know which ROM you are currently running, do post in that ROM's thread.
2. If you know which ROM you are currently running, do tell us (specifically which ROM), so we might help. Not all ROMs are the same.
3. If you don't know which ROM you are currently running, get to know it.
oops
Sorry about that votinh. I was trying a few different ones so i didn't put the rom in there. I've finally settled on:
XWLPY-SHOstock2 v6.0
Thank you.
Thats not AOSP.
I dont think you can do jack to touchjizz lockscreen.

There is an option for AOSP lock screen on Shostock but I don't think you can add more targets. To the OP, AOKP has those options if it means that much to u

I had this when using the Base, but after going stock again in preparation for CM or AOSP I lost the ability to wake using the volume rocker. I know I need to edit a file in system/usr/keylayout but I can't remember which one, and if that was the only thing i needed to do.
I've tried searching this forum for it, but have not been able to find it. I remember when I read it, it was a offshoot of another thread within it.
Thanks for any help and have an awesome one.

Rootbox has it as an option, and I think the new CM10 has it as well.
If you're intending to use AOSP anyway, there really isn't anything for you to do.

Yeah I was able to try those and while I prefer their aesthetic I miss not having more control of the hardware. (eco-mode, wise screen, etc.) If any of the ROMs for the G had the eco-mode feature I'd stick with it, but as it is the Nova launcher and stock are more than ok.
So for anyone who might know could you let me know?
Thanks!

Go to system/usr/keylayout. Edit file "keypad_8064.kl", key 114 and key115 as shown. Save a backup of original file, just in case.
Get Trickster MOD from the play store. You can set ECO mode with it if you are using the Houcha kernel.

Thank you for the feedback guys.
I knew about the editing the keylayout file, but even after editing it does not change the rocker behavior. I remember needing to do something else to a file, but I can't find the reference anywhere.
Being on the houchu kernell would require me to convert the phone to the nexus 4 wouldn't it?

To be clear, these will only work for AOSP ROMs and the GoogleEdition ROM.
Threw these together for myself. Love having the navbar but it is a pain to add every nightly I flash. So I threw this together. I made two versions. One simply adds the navbar and disables the capacitive menu and back buttons (with them active the navbar becomes nearly impossible to use) and triggers the navbar. Fear not, this mod triggers the in app menu overflow access and for that matter you could then create a menu on the navbar. I couldn't automate disabling the backlight so that will still need to be disabled via settings>advanced>sensors. I also made a version that changes the device DPI from 480 to 360 (my preferred DPI).
Download - AOSP_navbar_enabled.v3.zip
Base version above now allows OTA survival. Will reapply itself after each nightly.
Download - AOSP_navbar_enable_360dpi.zip
Download - AOSP_remove_NAVBAR.v3.zip
Here is the method to inject changed into the build.prop that I used (found here)
On the GoogleEdition ROM it does not support disabling the capacitive button backlights natively so the app from the following thread is needed
[APP] Google Edition ROMs - Disable Button Lights
Thanks a million times for this! I have been missing these! I am running beans rom and after installing getting system UI has stopped, also using nova, any information on getting this going would be great, thanks again!

A fixed navbar taking up space precious on a small display seems Nexus- like. Stop this abomination NOW! Instant S4 mini (comparable display space usable for apps).

Of course you are welcome to your opinion!! And in part I agree. That is why I run at 360dpi, that way it has less of an impact on the display. I know it is not for everyone, but choice is the spice of life.

Thanks for this. Is it possible to only activate the in app menu overflow without adding the nav bar? It's so much more intuitive to have that, rather than guessing whether or not the menu button will do anything within each app (the whole reason google got rid of the menu button in the first place).
I wish I knew how!! To be frank, when you enable the navbar and disable the capacitive buttons it activates the menu overflow within apps all by itself. Must be part of the navbar framework. But let me look into it. I MIGHT have an idea but it would be ROM specific, not a general mod like this. What ROM are you running or would like such a feature for?

Running both the Verizon Google Edition ported rom and Clean Rom. Appreciate it, but don't bother putting time into it if it's ROM specific. What you have posted here already is helpful enough!

I will try for the GE port, it should be an easy mod. These don't work on stock touchwiz as it doesn't have the needed framework for the navbar. For some reason Samsung gutted the navbar from their source

Oh it works very nice, but there are some cases (like tapatalk) where the menu would instead be within the navbar so this is not a capacitive menu replacement

Awesome job man. Now I just need to be able to set the physical home button to menu for short press and go full screen (no navigation lights) on long press. Think that is possible?
