Hi,
I'm sorry if this problem is already solved. But with my English I don't understand all those screen flickering/tearing issues (in the way that I can't imagine how these problems probably look like).
I took a video of the problem:
This happens frequently not only in Shadowgun, but also in Cogs, GTAIII or Google Earth with 3D buildings.
Is there any solution or is this behaviour unusual and I should send the tablet back to Asus?
Thank you.
I haven't seen that problem with Shadowgun, Max Payne, or Google Earth. Unfortunately, I think there's a hardware problem with a tablet. Try a full factory reset, and if the problem shows up again, you'll need to RMA it.

Can you clarify what you said there?
Plus i would love to see some answers on this since i have the exact same problem!
my prime and also my friend's prime have that problem, just reboot it, i dont know why on some application make that flickering, otherwise you can limit to 1 the number of application in background, seems limit the problem.
i have installed androwook and now i have very very rarely flickering, i don't think it's an hardware problem....

It means you need some risks to do. ROOT and UNLOCK your device. Or not even unlock, just root, then over lock it. Hope you're familiar with it. Atm, im using the latest Androwook Rom. Super stable. Even when im in POwer saving mode, i still can play Nova 3 without a problem...

I have this problem always!!! Every day! I think I will unlock and install COSTOM ROM if it will fix! When I have this problem I only reset tablet
Thank you guys.
As I see it, there isn't any solution (apart from unlocking).
At least the restart helps.
The tip with "only 1 app in background" didn't change a thing, sadly.
It's interesting that it doesn't happen in custom roms... maybe it's worth a try to ask some developers what they've changed.
EDIT: I stand corrected, the "only 1 app in background" trick is working, after few initial glitches I was able to play Shadowgun for an hour... then I got bored, so it probably is a good way to solve the problem.

Unlocking the device is really worth a shot... in my case i never really regret it... and ROMS developer updates every now and then.
This might be a ROM problem too. I've had this issue on AOKP, but haven't seen it yet on CM9/stock.

Okay so I been doing some fiddling and have noticed if I go back to stock using the wolf method my tablet works fine, as soon as I root this is when games start to freak out.
So i used voodoo OTA and temp disable root and no more game problems. if i enable root games freak out again.
Now the question is is there some dodgy app trying to gain root or is it superuser?. i do have a few apps that don't come from the market
You are right, temp unroot solved my problems, too.
Well, most of the time I don't need root, so this is great solution for me. Thanks
done some more fiddling and removed all my sideloaded Apps and the one that seems to have made the biggest difference is an old patchef version of root explorer I have left temp root off and uninstalled root explorer and no more problems....fingers crossed.

Seeing how a lot of people got their prime no one else come up to say their GPS is broken...Hope everyone is smart enough to test it out when they get it. It's a deal breaker for me if it doesn't work. I mean it's not too big of a deal, but I want every part working!

I just tried mine out (just got the Prime a couple hours ago at Gamestop).
Doesn't seem to lock. Need to test more outside, but my phone wasn't having a problem.
looks like we need another firmware update
more tests please
Some more people need to test, if this thing is not working, I'm not picking it up at gamestop tomorrow.
started up a poll.

It would be a deal breaker for me. I'm planning on replacing an iPad 1, which I use to track areas for search and rescue. More feedback on the GPS would be appreciated.
Here is the Update file directly from the cache folder:
http://db.tt/yAFWWwuk
Place it in your cache folder and the update should be recognized.
If you don't have root access yet, try to rename it to DE_epad-9.4.2.11-20120117.zip and copy it to the root directory of a microSD-card. This may also trigger the update (untested).
If it works for you, please let us know.
Good luck!
Experience on my ICS-Prime: So far very good, but haven't got much time to do the testing yet. It's smooth and fast.

No problem with Glowball, Shadow Gun THD or Riptide HD at all.
no glowball for me... it dont work for me... close without a fc message
I think I read someone say there is an update available for glowball in the market that will get it running again.
i got ics update today too and a second update for gps or so... since the ics update I have no longer some special german letters like ä,ü,ö shown in browsers and on websites (firefox, android browser and maxthon), I don't have the @ in browser over keyboard and all tegra games will close after a few seconds of loading. I've allready contacted asus about the BETA ICS in my eyes. as I wrote the message to asus, I found 2 more buggs while writing and editing the text. when you write text between finished lines and press "blank", the cursor jumps to the end of the text, so you have after every fu****** word going back to the position where you have written in... and after writing some words faster (I can really write fast XD) the TOUCHPAD is active for some seconds?!?!?! This is not really funny, if you need this tablet for work.... . I bought my prime in austria... .
[edit] before upgrading I've temp unrooted the device with voodoo and restored the su-binaries successfully after updating. no rerooting in ICS needed

The good news - Instagram for Android is out today. The bad news - shows as incompatible with the Prime
Any way to get around that?
Download it on your phone and if you can use TiBu on your phone to back it up (root required), then copy the .apk backup to your prime; you can install the app. Couldn't tell you if it works, but that's how I move apps from my phone to tablet when I see that incompatibility message.

Strange issue with Instagram.. I am unable to update/refresh stream over wifi on my TFP or my phone.. If I turn off wifi on my Epic Touch and use 3g or 4g it will refresh. Its just wifi thats giving me the issue, so its useless on TFP right now..
there was another update for the app. hopefully it added fixes and will be prime compatible soon.

Have you tried a full uninstall and re-install of the game? (I'm guessing yes, but not sure what else to suggest).
To be honest, I haven't played it in a while, so I'm not 100% sure it's currently working, but it was for sure. I'll definitely give it a whirl when I get home tonight and let you know.... from there we can see if we can figure out any differences.

So many people complaining about locked bootloader and how it basically sucks, i have a counter to that, be it ever so small.

You can track your tablet with the serial, meaning that no matter if they wipe it, if they reinstall it, or if they reset it, it should still show up! I just found this out a few days ago and figured i'd share. Gives me a little peace of mind when i take this thing to school if it gets lost or stolen i can still find it again.
Feel free to discuss but please no flaming. Lets keep it civil

I find those tracker apps to be convenient but resource heavy. I usually just choose to remove as much of that bloat as I can and take the risk. But then again I never set my devices down for very long.

Yeah, good point. It works for me though and doesn't hog too many resources. At least it is opt in though. The tracking software that Asus put on the prime is neither opt in nor opt out unless you consider unlocking your boot loader and voiding your warranty opt out

So, it's either keep within the locked environment and deal with Asus's idea of timely updates (hint, they're not) or nuke the warranty and get a vastly better experience with AOKP, EOS or Virtuous.
Not a hard decision at this time sadly.

Agreed! I found the OTAs caused more problems than they solved. By the time I was running .21 my prime was practically unusable given the browser freezes and crashes. It lasted about 2 days before I unlocked. Unlocking and getting rid of stock was the best decision that I made in regards to this thing.

I wonder how they track the device when it comes online. Is the stock firmware running CarrierIQ or some other form of privacy-concerning tracking software? This might finally drive me to install CM9.

Lol, I have yet to get this thing to actually work. I just use Prey or whatever it's called, doesn't actively start running until you tell it to unless I'm mistaken.
Wait, I have an unlocked bootloader on my Prime, and the device tracker was able to locate it, once I connected it to WiFi network. Even the remote ring worked. (Message and contacts lookup says that it only works on 3G models). I did not test the remote wipe or lock for obvious reasons.
I'm running rooted stock .21 ROM.
I use gotya too .... takes a pic of the person unlocking the screen and emails me the pic along with their location ..... but i guess there are pros and cons for locked and unlocked bootloaders ...... i had my prime for a day did the .21 update then decided to root.... man was that a lot of work but it was worth it in my opinion

Of course the location software worked: you are using an ASUS rom that comes with the tracking software thoughtfully included . It has nothing to do with whether you are unlocked or not. I am running a non-ASUS rom - the tracking website doesn't work with my prime.

Thats my point... the thread title says "One good thing about a locked bootloader". The device tracker is not disabled by just unlocking the boot loader. Flashing the rom to a custom rom would. (Granted, the most likely reason for unlocking the bootloader would be for flashing to a custom rom.)

Wow, yeah, that is a good r...er, no, the locked bootloader continues to suck. Oh, and you better pray the person steals your GPS dongle and uses it if you want a location
Just change title of thread from "locked bootloader" to "stock firmware w/ locked bootloader".
You know, I do have a Windows Home Server, is there a version of this I can use from home without a complicated setup?
Actually, my device was located within a fairly small area using just WiFi locations. Not small enough to nab anyone who had my Prime, but at lease it would tell me its still in the neighborhood. Besides, GPS would not work indoors anyway, even with the dongle.

I'm still amazed anyone can use it :/ I just get some "command failed" error every time I try to add my Prime's serial number to the Device Tracker. Fails every time, lower case, upper case, even started swapping 0's and O's even though I know the correct placement.
I've pretty much given up on anything with ASUS being quite right, and definitely don't expect much of whoever upkeeps their website and services. I also just submitted an RMA early this week and have not heard a word from anyone lol, I can only assume this will be fun.
