Way to wake-up phone? - Verizon HTC Droid Incredible 4G LTE

The original Inc had an optical joystick that you could press to wake it up. This phone doesn't have one...any other way to wake it up w/o pressing the power button?

Not yet. I'm sure once it is rooted and all a volume wake key hack will be provided.

Just curious, but what would that accomplish? You'd still be pressing a physical button, and from the reviews the volume button is the mushy one this time, not the power/lock button. Not trying to be a d**k, just wondering what's the advantage of using the volume key over the p/l.
Too bad there isn't a way for something like "shake to wake".

To me nothing. I just use the power button. Some people seem to like it though.

[Solved]Wake phone on volume keys

I know the Atrix and Photon are very similar, so has anyone tried this yet to wake the phone on the volume keys? My power button is getting annoying and would rather use the volume buttons. I'm not experienced enough to try this myself so hopefully someone can maybe get it working.

EDIT:
Found out that Widget Locker from the market will do it with the correct settings. here is the link;

[Q] Broken power button problem

my htc amaze has a broken power button and would flash on and off unless i take out the battery. the power button is gone, but the power sensor is still there. the phone will stay on if i push on the power sensor correctly.
you guys have any advice on fixing this and how much would it cost to repair?
thanks a bunch
have you checked on ebay for any repair parts?
Should be warranty.

I used Button Remapper to map the power on/off to the camera button. Never used the camera button anyway.
You can remap the power button to nothing.

Does it work to turn the phone on when its off? I only ask because I would like to set it up like you did with camcorder button.

It won't be able to, since the power button is assigned to turn on the device. There's one way I know of that you can use to turn the phone on when it's off. It requires a computer though.
You will need 4ext recovery installed. After that, have the phone connected to a computer and then (assuming you have adb drivers set up) type in the following command:
adb reboot
That should boot up the phone.

Thanks that is great to know!

Sorry for the delay in answer. You can map the power button to whatever button you like. It does turn the phone off and on. I will act exactly as the power button does.

That's incorrect. Once the cam button is mapped as a power button, it will behave exactly as the power button.

No it doesn't behave like a power button. Sure it can wake the device and put it to sleep, but it CAN NOT power up the device once it's off. The power button sends a different kind of signal when the phone is off, and cannot be remapped with software means. It's a hardware button that tells the phone to turn on.
Before you go and tell me that it's not true, I even tested it out myself just to be sure and yep, it doesn't power on the device once it's off.

I stand corrected. I thought he was talking about stand-by off. I also tested if the button works to power on the device and you are correct, it doesn't work.
To the OP. My power button does work if I remove the battery case and press the spot where the battery case button would make contact with the phone. It would seem to be a problem with the button making contact with the phone.

[Q] Screet Capture

hi there....just wanted to know if there was a way to get a screen capture with any of the hardware buttons. i almost dropped my Note yesterday:crying:and as i caught it my fingers fumbled the power and volume buttons and it took a screen shot. so I'm assuming some combination of those buttons makes it do that. Any ideas what they may be?? i am on Padawan V6.2 rom...which is great by the way.
I think you press the "Home" buttod and "Powes" button at the same time. You can also do it with the S-Pen or by swiping your hand/palm across the screen from right to left.
Its power and volume down.
Family alliance.
thanks

it's volume down+ home +power. Of the 3 native ways built into touch wiz that is the most tricky to get right... Everyone I try is of the volume being turned down on my home screen lol

haha....i just noticed that. apparently its a new word for "screen" that i made up!

remapping the power button

Is this possible? I just want it to not turn on the screen. I notice in my front pocket sitting down sometimes the power button gets pressed and turns on the screen. I would prefer the home button only cause it is flatter and more flush with the device. I am able to edit the home button to either wake or not wake the phone, but the power button wakes the phone even when I erase the fields in all the system/usr/keylayout files. There must be a backup file or something somewhere telling the power button to turn the screen on. I use WidgetLocker also.
Are you sure it's not the home button turning your screen on? Pretty common occurrence...

No. I have disabled that and will leave it disabled until I can figure out how to disable the power button.
i would like to see this as well, the power button is too easy to press accidentally. i tried editing the keylayout files but i couldnt get it to work either.... here's my ideal setup: the home button wakes the phone, the power button does nothing unless you long press it to bring up the power options menu. or press it while the screen is on to turn off screen.
I too have this problem.
The power button is easy to press when it's on my pocket and I even have a case on it. The case makes it a little harder to press but I can still hear the click of the button when so I know when it happens.

How to simulate power button with volume key(up and down at the same time)

Hey guys. So my wife's i777 power button just died on her. And to fix it I am thinking of using the volume buttons (press up and down at the same time) to simulate as if I am pressing the power button. Is there any such fix ?

CM and AOKP roms have an option to wake the phone by holding volume down.
Also you could download Gravity Screen Off which is a pretty decent app for getting around this problem as well.
