[Q] ICS CM9 Nightly Google Play and Browser Problem - Galaxy Tab 10.1 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Ever since I use the ICS CM9 Nightly from here, I found out two problems with my GTab (P4). Is it true that those problems are due to the ROM?
1. Google Play always shows error 403 when I want to install or update my applications
2. Every time I open a URL using the browser, it is always said to be a file and directly downloaded to my "Download" folder
During the first day after the installation of this ROM, I didn't find any issues as mentioned above, but I found these issues after 3-4 days of usage.
Can anyone help me?
Thank you very much.

Sorry. Problem solved.
The problem was caused by the wrong proxy setting which is suddenly changed. I don't know who changed it, but after I left it blank, now everything is back to normal again. The only problem remains is just the camera which will be fixed after the official ICS stock ROM is released.

[Q] "Download Unsuccessful"

I remember having this issue since ICS and on multiple devices running different ROMs.
What gives? I know the solution is to clear out the Download history and it still works. Just annoying that I have to do that... Does Google know about this issue??
You can also try using a browser like Opera, that helps me. But yeah it really is annoying it also happens to me both on GB and ICS

To be able to download certain files, you must first have an application that can run the file. If you don't have the ablity to run the file it will refuse to download, giving the download unsuccessful message.
What you say may be true. But the files I download are definitely openable. Yet they still don't download successfully until after multiple attempts or clearing the cache.

Hello everyone -- First post
I don't know if this will help, but i tell you what i experienced yesterday. I have both a HP Touchpad 32GB Wifi only and a Samsung Fascinate. I have the problem with both of them for months now. I can install anything i want from Google Play, but can not down load any other files, both from emails and websites. I can write to it with Window XP Pro machine.
Two days ago i was messing around with my Touchpad dual boot WebOS/CM7 and wreck it. Wouldn't reboot, couldn't run WebOS doctor on it or any thing. I thought it was bricked. Then i ran across a forum how to delete the volume manually and recreate them. Then install back to factory original.
Last night i got it back to 3.0.5 and installed CM9 tenderloin nightly 20121028 dual boot. First think i did was go to a website to down load a PDF file to see if this fix my download problem. File downloaded, i tried opening it, said no file associate. Jump into Google Market , installed reader, open the file, no problem. I started checking with ROM Manager for any nightly updates. There was one and i started downloading it, and moved on to installing Titanium Backup plus Root. Few minutes after dubbing around, checking CM9.I noticed that it had a download error. SO i jumped on to another website to download another file. Immediately <Untitled> Download Unsuccessful. Here we go again. Switch over to Google Market, Titanium Backup plus Root finished installing.
I remove it and root. Check to see if it fixed the problem. NOPE! still no downloading. This morning at work during break, I wiped CM9 out with ACMEUnistaller, and started over. Same install as before. No problem downloading any files so far, but i have not reinstalled Titanium Backup plus Root. I will install it tonight just to be sure and redo my Samsung Fascinate to see if i can reproduces the same results there with CM10.
Can someone else that is having the same problem confirm with their system and see if they get same result?
Not so
Sorry guys, I just reinstalled Titanium Backup plus and can not repeat it. I'll keep checking with everything that I install and any settings I change
You may have better luck with the Touchpad forum.

Its not just my touchpad that is having the same issue. My Samsung fascinate have the issue and it has CM10 nightly. I've search many forum site for this problem. There are many other that are having the issue with all different devices and ROM's. I
I'm currently trying to repeat on touchpad because if i mess this unit up it won't be a big deal for me. I have got it down 25 minutes or ever less removing the CM and reload it. Not so fast for me on the Samsung. So far unsuccessful repeating it. Going to try repairing Fascinate and on it.
You think this should be moved to another thread? If so please let me know.
Thanks in advance
FYI, if you change the name of the original Download folder to, say Download_old, then try the download again, it will create a new folder and download to that one. weirdly, the folder permissions are exactly the same for both folders after (rwxrwxr-x)

[Q] Google Maps Android API, missing?

This has been bothering me lately. When I open my Instagram (using xperia ray latest Gingerbread stock ROM), and go to "Photo Maps", a dialog box appears saying "Photo Maps requires that the Google Maps Android API is installed on your device
I tried uninstalling and reinstalling both Google Maps and Instagram, I restarted my device too. But it doesnt solve the problem.
I tried checking /system/framework/com.google.android.maps.jar , I thought I lost this file but the file is there..
This is a rare problem and I only found 2 search results on Google about this problem, and both were found on XDA forum. One had his problem solved by placing this .jar file there. The other one tried placing the .jar file but no luck.
It's bothering me. Because I think it will affect other application that uses google maps. But I'm not sure. And I don't want to reinstall the whole ROM because I have partitioned my SD card, put many stuff in it, I dont want to start it all over just because of this small problem.
Thank you very much in advanced.
I am having the same problem, but it has caused me to realize that I cannot download most things that have a main function that utilises the gmaps API... I'm running a CM9 fork, though, so I expect that to be the cause. Furthermore, I tried to replace the files and gapps installation through recovery, it yields no changes. I see no new files, which is odd imo... Placing the JAR through a file manager and rebooting doesn't change anything for me either. Would love a followup because I too have seen the threads Fun is talking about but I have also seen at least a dozen on here that have gone unanswered
yes. Someone has to got to have the solution. So bump.
bump... i guess? I havent been able to fix this. Althoug a simple flash will fix this, I'm curious that we can fix this.
Still having this issue myself.
Running CM10.1 on my Galaxy SII (i9100P), although its not just with my current ROM that I'm having the issue. Tried refladhing ROMs and GAPPS but no joy. Countless data/cache wipes have done notjing to fix it. Also tried the.jar solution but did nothing.
Really annoys me that I can't find a solution.
No one any ideas on what this could be?

A Little Help With Secondary User Account

I just got a nook tablet for Christmas and I installed CM10 last night- The following Build:
[ROM] SGT7+CM10+Cherry Picks,By meghd00t. New 09/12 Multitouched!
and everything seems to be working great, but my problem is this-
I set up a secondary account on the tablet for my wife to use, but when I go to play the play store and try to download apps every single app starts to download and on completion says "Invalid Download URI".
I've tried erasing the secondary account and recreating it, and that doesn't solve the problem, so my questions are-
Is this normal operation for ICS/Android? (Our phones each have our own account and I don't even know if their is an option to add a secondary account to them to test it on there)
Is there a way to fix it if it is normal?
If this isn't normal, what should I do? Reflash the rom, or try a different rom?
I've tried googling for an answer, and searching these forums but I can't find anything. I'm sure I could just install the roms on my user account, but I would rather it be completely usable on both accounts rather than for her to switch back every time she wants to install something.

I just glanced at the rom thread, but are you sure that ROM is from 4.2.x android (ICS & early JB don't have support)? http://www.androidpolice.com/2012/11/14/android-4-2-feature-highlight-multiple-user-accounts/
Sorry, I don't have any further information that that, but hope that is a start.
CM 10 has basic (broken) support for multiple users. Install a 10.1 ROM, multiusers are MUCH better. I just did it last night and the only issue Ive run into so far is in-app purchase isnt shared between users in the 1 app i tried. I'm working with the developer now to figure that bit out.

Upgrading problems on Samsung P7510 tablet to Marshmallow

I'm trying to upgrade my Samsung p7510 10.1 tablet from Ice Cream Sandwich 4.0.4 to either Marshmallow or Nougat, or better. I've installed TWRP 3.1.1 and rooted with SuperSu. I've had to assume root has worked as can't download root checker onto my tablet.
So, far I've managed to find a version of Marshmallow "ROM-STOCK_MMB29K-seed.zip" on androidfilehost.com. But when I try installing I keep getting error message "Updater process ended with signal: 4". I've wiped the Data, cleared the Cache and Dalvik Cache. Also searched the internet for info on the signal 4 problem but not found much other than to remove the "assert" line from the updater-script file in the OS zip.; that did nothing.
So, a few questions:
- Anyone know where I can get OS zips from for a Samsung P7510?
- And any ideas on resolving the signal 4 issue?
- Any other ideas?
P.S. The only reason I'm updating is I want to use it for Kindle but can only reach HTTP sites, not HTTPS. Assumed that is because it's so old that everything is out of date. And that stops me from downloading anything from just about anywhere, including Google Play.
P.P.S I have searched the forums but couldn't find anything helpful or with links that worked.
Thanks in anticipation
Might I suggest the stabelest ROM I've ever run on my P7510. I've had this installed on mine for over a year now. There are of course some minor bugs.
The signal 4 issue is most likely a Binary issue and should no longer be relevant since you should reset the device to factory and start over. Another thing is once you Root it you can't download from Google play because you now have an unverified device, it has something to do with Google Pay. You'll want to look for APKs. Although SuperSu is usable, you're going to want Majisk insted. I hear of some problems using SuperSu.
I have these files here in my PC if any of the links no longer work but you'll want to know how to flash it so you'll need the video. I'll check back soon and drop a link to my files. if you need them. I'd need to upload them to my Google Drive first.
If you have any other difficulties I'm usually here about once every week.
P.S. Your tab is better than a Kindle and I would not suggest using it as such, it runs pretty crappy that way . Amazon does have an app you can use. And I see that you have been having difficulties finding Operating Systems for your tab and yes it's because the P7510 first hit the market in March of 2011 there aren't many people doing much with it anymore. There's about 3 or 4 of us left.
Firstly, thanks for your help @Casper Young .
In particular the video was brilliant. I did have a few runs at the update, however, the process was very straightforward. The key issue was the TWRP version I was using. It was supposed to be for the P7510, but realised it was actually for the P7500, consequently the aosp files weren't loading. I think that was also the cause of the errors I was getting. And although none of the links were working I managed to get the file names from the video and sourced them from androidfilehost.com:
twrp2870-20150814-p4wifi.tar.md5
aosp-7.1-p4wifi-20170506.zip
Once I had those it was simple and the update worked smoothly.
I've also added the app from apkpure.com as Google play was a complete pain trying to get the tablet recognised. Now very pleased with the build and apps, all running very smooth.
thanks again
Glad you had no problems. There are some minor bugs. Flash doesn't work for the camera. And check your memory capacity. I use Apex Launcher for my home screen which organizes better for me.
