Just curious if anyone has seen an improvement with a replaced phone.
I know of only one personally who has had his replaced and after two days the issue arose once again.
hey buddy, just had this happen to me right now, is it a software ? Or hardware? I restarted the phone, and it worked again... Weird!
Thanks.

You guys are aware it's a software issue that's already been fixed by Maintenance Release 3 available in the Development section, right ?
I'll never understand why so many people just jump the gun on getting devices replaced when 90% at least of issues are software in nature.

Crud I hope the Maintenance Release 3 is not the final one if the audio problem still exists. I hope Motorola is taking their time to find all the problems reported and fix them before officially releasing a maintenance release.

Probably because they want to. It was their money don't worry about it. I dont know why some jump the gun to run their mouth about stuff that isnt any of their business.
I was asking as the OP on this thread because I actually use my phone as a phone for communicating and not just playing games on it.
Kinda negates having a specific phone of it locks up and or has silent calls....so if it made sense to exchange it I would....so that I could actually use the tool I bought....ya know?
I initially had the same issue. Turned out I still had my old phone powered up. Once I turned it off and rebooted all was fine.... Maybe this works for you...

I replaced m y phone today at Best Buy and so far so good.
Strange thing is, while this is a MR1 software package, there sure are some things which are different.
The email setup for one to manually configure was completely different than my first phone.
The rear speaker is way louder than the first unit and I thought that one was loud.
The really weird part is, as soon as I opened the browser the first time and then went to load bookmarks, all of my previous bookmarks were already there. Is Google or Sprint storing this information in a cloud somewhere?
I was so taken back by this that I checked all of the various serial #'s and such to make sure they gave me the new phone, even though I watched them with it the entire time.
BTW....setting the battery to PERFORMANCE really speeds this up on this phone.

Download APP Cache Cleaner. It fixed my issue without reboot or MR5. Hope that helps and "thanks" please
Just picked up the Photon yesterday and I think I had my first silent call this morning. Phone rang, answered and neither party could hear the other. Has sprint acknowledged this as a known issue?
Only had that issue before I flashed the latest sbf

After going through 3 from 2 different sources, I gave up and went back to another phone till something reliable as a phone comes out.
I have the latest software build and I still have the same problem
For those of you who are having issues with Launchers lagging or redrawing, try this. It worked for me.
I found this on Galaxy Note Intl forum.

Most launchers have a 'Force Launcher to stay in memory' setting. Not exactly sure where but I know for sure Go Launcher has this setting. Someone else will likely post where / how to get to the setting (or I will later today when Im not about to pass out).
Not all of us have root just yet so editing the build.prop isnt much of an option for us.

It is pretty well assumed if you are hanging out on xda you have rooted your phone at the very least. There has been a root method since before the phone was even officially released. So I am not sure who you are referring to.
Thanks for the tip OP.

A Nova Launcher representative responded with the following when asked for this functionality to be built in to their settings:
Those options stopped doing anything as of Gingerbread. Since Nova Launcher doesn’t support anything prior to ICS, much less Gingerbread, such options would serve no purpose.

The Go Launcher "System persistent" setting is in the Advanced settings. Don't know if it does anything or not? Can't tell.

I use Nemus launcher without a lag issue but it does re-draw sometimes. I'm am here to keep up with Note development and yes it is hard to resist modding with some cool options out there..but 3 out of 4 devices I have are "rooted" and one is not....this one. I think maybe some, like myself have waited to see official ICS for the Note drop. Meanwhile I get my flash-fix with the other 3!

I know by doing the build.prop change NOVA luancher runs way smoother. This tweak is also built into the noteworthy ROM. The difference is definitely noticeable.

One more thing ..make sure if your using adw ex..to disable scrolling cache....this helps with lag as well as all the rest of the good info posted here...
is there a reason why manufacturers or even launchers in vanilla android isn't default to stay in memory? launcher redraws just makes it feel and looked like a bug and ultimately deprive the user experience in my view.

lets see non rooting you can still get 1st ICS leak, 2nd ICS leak, install flipboard from the theme/apps section, Premium suite, learn more about your phone, ask questions you may have, learn tips, tricks, and fixes. Theres a lot more, but i think its enough to counter your argument.
i'm not rooted but have all the above mentioned and it has made a big difference. I have tried root several times and to be honest im happy the way it is right now and just tweak certain things i need for the time being. I dont have the time to constantly mess with my phone, so until the offical ICS is released i will probably stay unrooted
hi
i have been using dragonics rebirth rom v1.2 and also the OMEGA 7.1 and for some reason on both roms the widgets i put on the screen constantly disappear, even if i put them back on they will again disappear for no reason, has anyone come across this? or why this might be happening it is very frustrating so any help will be greatly appreciated

looks like we are the only ones
I waited and waited. Thought about rooting and using a ROM before the official ICS update came from AT&T but just decided to wait. Finally got the update via Kies, excited like a school girl. Initially it was a cool new bit of scenery, and as the OS settled in with me, i found myself disappointed and wanting my gingy back. I've been upgrade for a couple months now i think, and had plenty of time to try to get used to it.
I am finding lots of things that just plain suck.
1 - Text message notification audible alert discontinues after awhile (unknown amount of time), only resolution I've found is to reboot the phone. This sucks because just out of nowhere my text notification tone stops. Everything else like ringtone etc is fine. This is a dealbreaker for me almost. This worked fine on Ginerbread.
2 - new Swype software gives me problems when the word suggestion feature stops working completely. Swype is hard to do without word suggestions at times. Only solution i've found is again, reboot the phone. This sucks. I know, don't use swype, but i WANT to use it. It worked perfectly on Gingerbread.
3 - the widget for Google Voice is super tiny now, and i don't see a way of making it bigger. It's approximately the size of 4 icons, whereas before on Gingerbread it was huge and you could easily read/see your voicemails. Maybe i'm missing something on how to change the widget size, but i see no way of doing it.
4 - my News and Weather widget, which i used for weather and news all the time, since my original Galaxy S, does not display any weather information anymore. Just says "No Weather Information". this worked fine on Gingerbread. I guess different phone OS makes widgets work differently. I just want mine to work as expected. News still comes through fine though.
5 - Unlocking the screen seems more difficult now, usually takes me a couple tries, whereas it seemed really smooth and awesome before the update
6 - Power Saving widget is huge now, takes up half of one screen, whereas before it was just 1 row and you could scroll across. Why make it bigger and take up more room with no additional functionality?
After listing all this out, i'm trying to think of the things i LIKE about ICS update, and i can only think of one, which is the data monitoring/limiting which is kind of a cool feature. I doesn't seem any faster really than before. So overall, i honestly was happier with Gingerbread. 6 things that i find that suck versus one thing i like.
Maybe this is me being picky, but as excited as I was to get ICS, i'm equally disappointed in the upgrade. My wife uses a Galaxy Note and it is available for her phone now, and I told her don't bother with the upgrade.
Anyone have any advice??? experience the same problems? I know i could root, install a custom rom etc, but i really like the touchwiz stuff from samsung and i was really happy with just the stock gingerbread OS, even with all the bloatware, i just disregard all that junk.
I'm having the same problem with text notification I just notice that I get a text it would sound but just about an hour ago it just stopped I would get a text and nothing ringtones works and everyrhing but I think is a ics bug maybe it would get fixed in the new update 4.0.4

at&t sucks. bottom line.
Advice, if you want to stick with touchjizz, run a custom one, there are plenty that *should* have those issues taken care of.
But the widget size issue, thats just looks, with a different launcher can change size of widgets.
Lol I called this one. A bunch of people upgrade to stock ICS. Then they complain and want to switch back, mess it up, and start new threads. Hopefully they all learned their lesson about carrier upgrades . I mean even I tried it, just to see what it looked like and how it functioned. Then again I knew how to get back to a custom Rom Before I did it. It's actually not too bad, but there were just too many bugs and battery life was too bad for my taste.

It isn't 100% on all phones it seems to be random but instead of posting something VERY VERY risky for people not so inclined to troll the forums and find out about the risks of certain actions why not shut up or post what you think will work then link them to a topic showing what bad could happen. You just seem like you want people to brick and make more topics about how they tried to reset and bricked. You also need to think of Google searches that link to this topic and they read it and see you said reset and they do it. It isn't just xda its anyone with the internet don't lead people to a possible brick

The only way to go "back" to Gingerbread is to flash UCKH7 straight stock or one of the Gingerbread stock plus root packages in Entropy512's thread. So yes, use that, or one of my guides.
Hi.. Today i notice while in camera app and when pointed at a bright surface (in my case a cream wall inside my house) in around the centre of the screen is a faint pink circle/oval.. There was the same problem on the s2 which everyone was giving out..

I have a very small case of it using the latest MIUI ROM. The ROM is based on stock and is using the stock camera app and firmware. It's definitely not as bad as my S2 when it had the same issue before Samsung released the patch.
I've noticed it on so many smart phones. The S3, S2, S1, iPhone 4 and 4S. It seems to be rather random as to how bad it is. If you want an easy way to tell, either face your camera at some white carpet in low-ish light or just re-size some of your images to thumbnails. It's very easy to tell in most thumbnails. You'll see a pink circle in the middle if you have it.
I wouldn't worry about it too much because Samsung does have a history of fixing these things via software updates : ).
