[Q] Official ICS OTA - Help to Flash please - HTC EVO 3D

Morning All,
So after hearing that we got our official ICS i thought i would replace my Virtuous rom with the original (i know i know bad move!)
So I restored my phone to a backup prior to installing the Virtuous ROM which leaves my phone at this point:

I have 4EXT recovery installed version 1.0.0.5 RC5
I have found this post: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1732984
But I'm not sure if this will work for me?
When I tried to update via official OTA when it installed it went into 4EXT to install? and when it rebooted it locked up at the HTC white screen without getting to the "quietly brilliant part" so i have since restored my backup again via 4EXT
Can someone please advise

First you need to download the modified Software from the link in your post.
Then you need to download the firmware software from this thread. This firmware is needed by ICS.
Once you've downloaded this two files you need to put the PG86img.zip in the root folder on your sd card.
Then boot into BOOTLOADER mode. VOLUME down & Power Key. Your Phone is flashing the firmware. After this you need to erase the PG86img.zip from your SD-card.
Once you've done this step, put your SD-Card back into your phone, go into recovery mode and flash the modified software from your link.
Voila, you did it!

and this will work even though im not s-off?

base on http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1732984, you'll need to s-off to flash the OTA

You can take this method to get s-off. Look under
revolutionary and evo 3d in google
and follow the instructions there. It worked like charm on my device. It's not so difficult as it looks like.

The revolutionary method requires me to down grade which I don't fancy the risk of bricking I tried a few of the new custom roms but they just seem to freeze at boot with logcat saying somet about drm.drmmanager
Sent from my HTC EVO 3D X515m using xda premium

I've downgraded my bootloader too. It's a bit tricky but I think it's the only way for you.
I'am not allowed to post any links yet. You can try it with this method, it works for me:
First download this file http://dl.dropbox.com/u/28791009/PG86IMG.zip and if you have a Vodafone branded this file http://dl.dropbox.com/u/13166134/PG8..._1. 49.0007.zip
Second backup the internal memory on your PC, since the above file format it.
Third Copy the file to your SD card
5.3 Disabled Fast Boot menu -> Power -> hooks for quick start to make out
4th Turn off the phone
5th Boot into HBOOT by first press and hold volume down and then press the power button hold (both together) until you are in HBOOT menu.
6th Wait briefly, it is now looking for several flashable files and then read the above and see.
7th Confirmed that it wanted to install the file (volume up). Then wait a bit, the process will take a few moments.
8th Restart the device, then reboot and fastboot selected.
9th Delete the file from the SD card
10th Boot back into HBOOT as in step 4 and 5 described and checked the version number
If all goes well, you now have version 1.49.0007 and you can going on with the revolutionary method.
Sorry for my bad english!

guys, just to confirm before i do something very stupid!!
1. i download the file mentioned in the post above PG86IMG.zip
2. i then put this in the root of my SD card
3. i then reboot my evo 3d into the bootloader - it will then install the new file?
4. reboot delete the file and say hello to my downgraded bootloader

Your phone will notice the PG86IMG.zip file on the root of your sd card. Follow the instructions on screen...
I think you need to use the volume up or down to start the update
And yes, it worked for me.
Notice:
My EVO is a GSM device. I don't know if it's the same for CDMA phones

White HTC screen the screen will flash black once and then back to white htc screen, followed by a blank screen then comes in the mikroms with the roadrunner on top and it freezes there then black screen again and phone repeats the whole process again but if I connect the phone to the car charger process is kind of the same except the phone turns on is this problem fixable?

Sounds like your having boot problems. Can you boot into bootloader just fine without being connected to a charger? If so try flashing the proper boot image for the Rom your on, using fastboot commands.

The initial boot.IMG flash may have not been a complete success. Check the md5sum of your Rom.

It shouldn't matter but I've heard reports of some people not being able to use fastboot commands and had to unlock. But that individual was using stock hboot aposed to joupunut hboot.. if you do have problems I guess you could just unlock..

yeah stock locked/relocked hboots even if s-off won't let you fastboot things...
here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1853871
put one of those on you're sd card after you do the latest RUU so you can have fastboot capabilities.
CHECK MD5 very important when doing hboot or radio things

Nope doesn't matter that's what the moddified hboots are for. the link is in my above post
Ok so I just updated to the latest ruu today i didn't have time until today but things got worse now I updated first before checking md5, could that have been the error? and now it just keeps rebooting on the HTC screen and it won't go to the mikroms screen
I went to my roms page and I can't seem to find the md5 http://themikmik.com/showthread.php...ense-4-GB-4-0-3)-4-2-2012&p=197893#post197893 help??? (I'm extremely tired so my finding/logical sense are not working properly right now)
and now it seems as if my recovery has been deleted as I get a Phone screen facing up as if it was laying down on a table with a green refreshing sign/reloading sign fllowed by a phone screen facing me with a red triangle like the one where you turn on the hazard lights on your car
..
You could find Amon Ra 3.15 recovery in a zip that can be renamed PH98IMG.zip
and reinstall recovery. Your immediate problem may be solved, but if you have time, you can do more.
Amon Ra lets you look at either internal drive: your sdcard or the phone's storage:
toggle the sdcard, attach to computer, and remove the PH98IMG of just-installed Amon Ra recovery.
Now find the Android Police 4.03 version (large download if correct) , make sure the md5's match for it, and
copy it to extrenal sdcard renamed as PH98IMG.zip. It will run 1 1/2 times then boot
up to operating system. Many people say to do another reinstall and/or one or more Factory Resets at this point:
one from Seup- Storage - Factory reset with phone "on". Another factory resey is availble
by booting to recovery and choosing Reset. It's a good idea to do one or both style resets before
you reinstall a recovery. Every time you run an RUU or a zip that replaces the ROM, you have
to reinstall that Recovery. To avoid no-charging situations, I'd advise keeping Amon Ra 3.15.
Now you're at the point you can root and play with this powerful handset.

.
2.27 is the newst Global firmware.
When you boot, are you still seeing something from MikRoms?
If yes, your RUU installation didn't work.
I'd use Amon Ra to wipe:
every choice several times and reinstall the whole Android Police 4.03 PH98IMG.zip.
If you don't get a nice clean oem-style stock bootup after that, then the RUU is suspect, may need
to get from another source.

yup I get the mikroms thing again guess it didn't work when I wipe my data do I wipe ALL data/factory reset and does this include my SD card when it gets wiped or no?
.
yeppers:
in AmonRa, take Wipe, then do each one including the internal and external Sdcards
and dalvik cache and everything else a coupla times..
The RUU ought to have undone everything else in your phone incl MikMik, so it may
not be a good one.
After all wipes, put it back onto your external card as PH98IMG and flash twice.
If all is well, you'll have a fine virgin install ready to be rooted and messed with.

[Q] Questions About Updating to 2.13 on Unlocked HTC EVO 4G LTE

Hi everyone,
Hoping to get a little feedback. I am a bit confused about how to correctly update to the latest firmware (2.13). I looked at the thread located here.
The download I think is the correct one is labeled "2.13.651.1 Firmware (No Kernel, Hboot, or Recovery.)"
Question: Since I am running TWRP recovery, does this get flashed in the same way as described by the thread:
"How to flash (install):
Download your zip of choice, and rename it to PJ75IMG.zip, and save it to the root of your external sd card. Reboot into bootloader mode, and accept the update. Let it run through, and wait for the successful message. "
PS here are my specs:
Phone is unlocked (s-off) and has root (Used RegawMOD) to achieve this.
TWRP Recovery installed.
Made backup of the stock rom using TWRP.

Unlocked and S-OFF are not the same. If you are HTCDev unlocked you will have to relock your bootloader and take the OTA. If you are LazyPanda S-OFF you can place the file on your ext sdcard and boot into bootloader and it will ask you if you want to flash the update.
I have only used the full firmware package from Capt_Throwback not sure about the one you posted. you can find it here

Ok just to reiterate the phone is S-OFF & rooted. RegawMOD used the HTC Dev method and flashed TWRP as its recovery program.
I want to keep the phone using the Sprint stock rom for now but want to update the firmware. I can't do OTA because TWRP has replaced the stock recovery from my understanding.

I am not S-OFF
Bigdaddy, Thanks for the reply again.
I just read on the original forum for RegawMOD that I am not "S-off" because I have not used dirtyracun or lazypanda. For some reason I thought that tool not only gave me root but also "S-off" since it showed tampered with when in the recovery screen.
Thought I had a good handle on this whole rom issue by now considering this is my 4th HTC phone but I guess I am not 100% there.
What should I do at this point? I am mass confused.
Could you share some light on what is the correct way to root and s-off this phone? what a F'in pain in the tail.

after re-locking the bootloader (with hasoons htc amaze 4g all in one kit), i booted back into bootloader, let the side bar on the top right load, then went to recover(4ext) and went to info, said that speedrom 7.8 was still installed. went to install the PH85IMG.zip from the root of sd card,
get an error in /internal_sdcard/PH85IMG.zip
(Status 7)
installation aborted.
i don't know what else to do, try a different stock rom?

How many times do we need to emphasize this? You DO NOT flash this in recovery!
And we have said that you have to put this in your EXTERNAL sd card, NOT internal.

the ota is a ruu its just the official release over the air aka "ota" not a compiled zip with the necessary files... just flash the file i posted before
I have to do it from fastboot at the moment i'm having device problems. I just want to get it back to complete stock. So use the .zip file or the .exe? Sorry for asking again

the file is already in a .zip format you just need to rename it.. and you dont flash it from fastboot.. when you boot into the bootloader the file should be recognized right away and prompt you to install a "update" which will reset your phone back to ICS stock from t-mobile

I am having the same issue as eurphoricessence. My bootloader says the exact same thing:

*** Security warning ***
RUBY PVT SHIP S-ON RL
HBOOT-1.93.0002
OpenADSP-v02.6.0.2226.00.0202

Now you suggested to use a file for T-Mobile users, we are both on Mobilicity, so I don't think your suggested file will work. So I need some clarification here on how to get to stock ICS, which file do we let the bootloader flash, is it the OTA or the RUU. I downloaded both mobilicity files from this link http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1617644
Now the RUU is a exe file, while the OTA is a zip file. I have let the bootloader flash both the OTA & the RUU renamed to PH85IMG.zip. The boatloader recognizes the file, I see a blue bar that appears in the top right corner that fills up, and then a brown bar that fills up. But after that, nothing happens. What do we do to get to stock rom?

okay the security warning doesn't mean anything.. its just a warning from your phone saying your bootloader was relocked recently... and stock roms are located in my signature now... try the one for mobile city located there the 4.0.3 ICS one there's only 2 ones for ICS and the other is for GB
---------- Post added at 07:43 PM ---------- Previous post was at 07:42 PM ----------
restoring takes a long time after you start it just leave the phone alone untill it reboots... but make sure to try one of the RUU's located in my signature

i've uploaded the correct image for the last screenshot, but what happens is that the files are extracted but then nothing happens after that, it just stops.
the 2nd file is an exe file, so i ran the program through me PC and get the error message in the attached screenshot
and yes, i've been keeping the file on the root of my external SD card
thank you for your continued support, i hope i can get this issue resolved

HBOOT Error "No image!" for PH98DIAG/PH98IMG after JuopunutBear s-off [HTC REZOUND]

HBOOT Error "No image!" for PH98DIAG/PH98IMG after JuopunutBear s-off [HTC REZOUND]
I tried to S-OFF my phone using JuopunutBear, and I succeeded with the wire trick, but afterwards my phone would not boot up. I tried booting HBOOT and noticed the following string of errors:
SD Checking...
Loading...[PH98DIAG.zip]
No image!
Loading...[PH98DIAG.nbh]
No image or wrong image!
Loading...[PH98IMG.zip]

No image or wrong image!
Loading...[PH98IMG.tar]
No image!
Loading...[PH98IMG.aes]

Loading...[PH98IMG.enc]
No image!
I assume this meant that the kernel was somehow messed up, so I downloaded the appropriate "boot.img" file and tried flashing it using "fastboot flash boot boot.img". It successfully flashed, but the error messages still appear in HBOOT.
I am able to boot into AmonRa recovery, but I get errors at the bottom saying
E:Can't mount /dev/block/mmcblk0p36
(File exists)
E:Can't mount CACHE:recovery/command
...
E:Can't mount CACHE:recovery/log
...When I try to restore from my nandroid backup that I made prior to attempting to root/s-off, I get an error
E:Couldn't open directory /sdcard/nandroid/I believe this error is because of the problems in the kernel (PH98DIAG/PH98IMG files).
I cannot flash a zip from the sdcard because both the sdcard and internal_sdcard appear as completely empty no matter what I do. I have tried and successfully performed an "adb push ROM.zip /" command to put the rom onto the sdcard, but the file would not show up in AmonRa when I tried to flash a zip.
I have tried using all of the commands under the "Wipe" menu in Amon Ra. I have tried formatting data, system, and cache as both Ext3 and Ext4. I have tried using the "FACTORY RESET" command when in HBOOT. I have tried re-installing AmonRa recovery, and I have tried all of these same things using CWM, as well. None of them have produced any forward results.
I am at a loss of things to try to restore my phone to any working state... please help! I just want my phone working again at this point, rooted or not.

I've had that issue before in hboot. You can remove the SD and boot into hboot, the move to recovery

Thanks so much for the help! I was able to just copy the ROM file I wanted to the external SD card once it was in the PC. I reformatted the SD card first. I flashed the ROM from recovery, and it worked. When I was in recovery and hboot, it still gave me the same error messages, however. Does this mean there is still something wrong with the kernal on the internal SD card? Is there a way I can check to see if the internal SD card is working?
Thanks!

Re: HBOOT Error "No image!" for PH98DIAG/PH98IMG after JuopunutBear s-off [HTC REZOUN
When you boot to hboot it always checks for a PH98IMG.zip first and if it's not there you get regular bootloader access, if it is there you get the option to update.
You said you flashed the rom, so did you get booted ok?
Are you trying to flash something via PH98IMG.zip?
If you're s off any of the current roms have the kernel included and you just wipe completely, flash the rom and reboot.

I downloaded PH98IMG.ZIP from mediafire and saved in sd card. Inserted the sd card in phone and went to hboot. It says
Main Version is older!
Update Fail!
Press <POWER> to reboot.
Please help me immediately by giving simple instructions. I do not know where the rom is and what it is. I am unable to find the rom. Also how to know whether phone has ics or something else ? I need to get this working as it is not my phone. Also it showed only cdma option, can i get the gsm option to use in India.
The PH98IMG.zip you used is an older RUU. You need on with hboot 2.25 or newer in it since you are s-on. Since you are in India, I assume you cannot take Verizon OTA updates. So best bet is to download one of the mirrors linked below for global RUU.

I messed up with my data, cache and maybe system too. Please let me know whether this is the right procedure to relock the boot loader.
1. Download the fastboot tool from Slacker101 and save it to desktop of your computer.
Fastboot Tool for Rezound
2. Plug in the phone via USB cable to your computer.
3. Go to Settings > Developer Options > Make sure USB Debugging is checked ON.
4. Open the folder called tools and hold shift on your keyboard and right click in a blank area in the folder. Then select Open Command Prompt Here.
5. When the command prompt opens, type the following with hitting enter at the end of each line:
adb reboot fastboot
fastboot oem lock
The above method not happening. Tried it in hboot and now it shows

I have a Verizon HTC rezound 4G LTE (Korean) and its running on JB( I really dont know which ROM is it). now the thing is that as I got this from someone who was a noob himself, he didn't update the sense so its basically 3.6. [SOLVED] HTC Desire 610 AT&T accidentally removed OS [SOLVED]

Update: I have the stock.img and need the stock zip file... please help that is all i need. i tried the stock RUU but for some reason my computer will not run the application and i don't know any other way to fix my phone other than adding the stock zip file to my phones sd card and installing it thru recovery.
Update: I fix my computer problem with the RUU not starting, it starts now and runs all the way thru then says it's the wrong one. I got the at&t ruu off the htc site.
UPDATE: I got my phone off of ebay, heres what the item was listed under.
SR HTC Desire 610 8GB Black AT&T Unlocked Any GSM 4G LTE Android Smartphone
Model: Desire 610
Bundled Items: 4G LTE May not be compatible with T-Mobile, Doesn't work with Verizon or Sprint
Contract: Without Contract
Lock Status: Network Unlocked
Operating System: Android
Unlock Status: Carrier Unlocked
Color: Black
SO... it's a AT&T Unlocked GSM phone? so what RUU do i need to use?
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I don't know exactly what all you need but here goes nothing.
I unlocked and rooted my phone a few nights ago using, http://forum.xda-developers.com/desire-610/general/info-htcdev-unlock-root-t2844323
also had TWRP recovery installed.
Yesterday i was playing around in recovery mode trying to clean up my phone and restore it to factory settings. I accidentally deleted my system.. and when i try go to reboot it says No OS Installed! Are you sure you wish to reboot?
So i rebooted to fastboot and clicked power down.. and when i try to reboot it, it gets stuck on the HTC start up screen untill my phone dies or i go thru all the trouble to take the battery out.
So i deleted the OS System, and can't boot my phone up. I can get to recovery and fastboot just fine tho.
Bigger problem is, before this happened i had to Factory Restore my computer, so i no longer have any of the files i had to download to unlock and root my phone.
Anyone know what i need to do to be able to use my phone again? I'd really rather not have to go back stock ROM but if it's the only choice i will.
Please help me fix this, I can't go without my phone and I really can't afford a new one right now.
Thank you...
Dawniebear

Try to reboot recovery
Install CM11 or stock ATT ROM from xda.
Move it to device.
Flash in recovery!
If your computer won't detect the 610, put it on USB OTG and connect to phone and flash.

Well, looking at your 1st post(see exert pasted in above) you have somehow re-locked your bootloader. So the first thing you will have to do is go back through your emails and find the unlock_code.bin file that htcdev emailed you when you first unlocked it and use wndroid or fastboot to to unlock your bootloader again with that code. Recovery won't let you flash back anything while the bootloader is locked.

Just use windroid. First unzip the file I attached. Connect phone to PC. Start windroid. At top of windroid select COMMANDS. FLASH. FLASH RECOVERY. It will open an explorer window, just navigate to where you unzipped the file I sent you and select it. It will then flash the recovery. Once finished reboot to recovery.
Good day sorry to bother you again i tried to do that but now i cant enter recovery mode twrp, i click there but only goes to htc logo for a sec then goes back to fast boot
