Question about the Touchwiz lock screen shortcuts.. - Galaxy S III Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

On Widgetlocker, (or in any other launchers) I can make a shortcut button to make a post on Friendcaster. This lets me jump right into making a Facebook status without having to go into a program, and then hitting the update button. I had these shortcut links both on my home screen and on my lockscreen (so I wouldn't even have to unlock the phone... just just get an immediate pop up to type an update)
I like the ripple effect of the touchwiz lock screen, and I have some shortcuts set up there... but it seems that you can only give links to full apps, and not the 'shortcuts' that the launchers or other lockscreens allow. There is normally one called 'Post' ...but on the touchwiz one if just gives full app names. Anyone know a way around this? Thanks.

The lock screen is only coded to allow applications, rather than specific functions of applications.
So no.

[Q] Can we get a lockscreen?

I was wondering if anyone knew if it was possible to get a lockscreen that is part of the system, not an app. I have tried 4 3 different apps and non of them work right. They all freeze the system when i use the power button to put it to sleep, i get a white screen and nothing else. Please don't suggest any apps that is not what i asked this question for. I want a lockscreen that is part of the franework.
There is a screen lock in settings. You have the options of pattern, PIN or password. You will find it in Location and security settings.
No I know about that one. I mean a slide style lockscreen. Like on most android devices

Click to collapse
no hope for original one, you may install WidgetLocker to re-enable it.
i tried widgetlocker and everytime i use the power button to put to sleep and then try to wake up all i get is a blank white screen. i dont get it.

[Q] LauncherPro - No Apps window options?

Guys,
A quick question on LauncherPro. On most other launchers (ADW, GO , TouchWiz etc) if you open up the apps window and click the bottom left menu button you get a set of options usually for how you want to organise/arrange all your apps. Ive several Launchers which i switch sometimes using Homeswitcher but most of the time i use Launcherpro. On all the rest i get at the very least the option to have them listed as icons or a list view but when i press the bottom left button on Launcherpro nothing happens. Ive been right through all the options on Launcherpro but cant find anything to change the way the apps are displayed. Am i just being incredibly thick (highly probable) or can you not re-arrange/organise any of your apps?
Thanks guys

Home button behaviour

The x10 mini pro has a "two-level" home screen:
the "top" hold the clock, and widgets.
the "bottom" holds the application icons.
Since there are many applications installed, the home screen extends beyond the screen width, which results in "windows", and so it is necessary to scroll left and right to see all the different "windows" and the icons they contain. When pressing the "home" button, the phone will bring up the last viewed "window" of the home screen.
Is there a way to make the "home" button always show the first (left most) "window" of the bottom home screen, namely, the left most window of the icons?.
TIA,
Mike.
In a way, yes...and in a way, no.
The screen(s) with all your apps in is known as the "app drawer". The stock launcher for the X10 Mini Pro will always do what you say, it will always go to the last viewed page of the drawer when you open it.
In theory, you could dig deep into the code of the SemcHome app and make it do what you want. I've no idea what you'd need to do, but it's theoretically possible.
The easiest way is probably just to install a different launcher. Have a look on the Market. I'm using Go Launcher Ex which does the same thing but it does let me put more app icons on one screen (I've got 16 instead of the stock launcher's 9) and you can group apps into individual folders. Or you can just hide the ones you don't need.
So this won't do exactly what you asked for, but it might give you a decent alternative.
Thanks.
Is it possible to place applications and shortcuts icons on the "top" home screen, say in the same screen as the clock?.
Thanks,
Mike
Yes, bascially. Although, again, you'll still need a different launcher for this.
A lot of phones will let you do this from stock but, because ours has a smaller screen, we can only put stuff into the four corners. Download a new launcher and you can cover your screen with app's and shortcuts as much as you want!
You can add shortcuts to the homescreen by long holding an App in the app draw and dragging away from its location to the Homescreen
Thanks all for replying.
ryant: The long press and drag method isn't working on my x10MP with android 2.1 .
I can move the app icon around in the app drawer (left and right screens), but not "up" to where the clock and other widgets live. Have you tried this on an x10MP with a stock launcher?.
Also, I've now found the "multicon" app which allows to place multiple widgets on screen, which is a good enough solution for me.

[Q] Swipe up gesture to lock screen?

As a long time Go Launcher user I have gotten used to using the swipe up action built into Go launcher to lock my screen (Go switch widget has to be installed as well).
I found this to be realy the best and fastest way of locking my screen. It amazes me that this isn't used anywhere else, so here's the question : Does anyone know of any app that can lock the screen by a simple swipe up action?
So not restricted to a certain screen area or use of buttons or widgets, I have seen some app's that use floating buttons or you can swipe from a certain screen border, but I just want to swipe up anywere across the screen (like I have been used to do the past 2 years )

Shortcut for hibernation in Kitkat 4.4

Hi,
I'm looking for a way to create a shortcut enabling me to put my smartphone to sleep simply by tapping on it. The reason I want to do that is because I don't really like the idea of pulling down a pull-down bar and tapping on the icon there. I would also like to avoid pressing the ON/OFF physical button to prevent it from breaking or getting loose.
I was wondering if there's an app that can do that or some system tweak maybe? I found a couple of apps, such as AnyCut and QuickShortcutMaker, but neither of them lists a system event like that, i.e. hibernation. I'm also aware of the Greenify + Nova/Apex launcher trick, but that involves installing a new launcher and a new app, which is not something I really want.
Please, note that I'm not looking for any third party solution, such as a widget or an app, either. All I want is a shortcut on my home screen, that's it.
Thanks!
