[Q] How to write a root app? - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi,
I'm a newbie trying to develop some small utilities. Need some info on how to get started with writing a root app.
Can anyone help, please.
Thanks.

Dude writing root app is way too advance...since you are a noop..try out some videos on youtube and try devlopment on eclipse..this will help you and you can gradually advance...
Press that thanks button if helpful !!

Thanks. I'm fairly comfortable with eclipse.
I know that root apps is a little advance, but thought I could take my existing app in play store - "virtual reboot" to next level with root.
Amy help would be

This might help: http://shreyagarwal.blog.com/2011/04/20/executing-shell-commands-in-android-applications/

Man i am really impressed by ur app..i guess u should include root functionality...best of luck
Sent from my GT-S5830 using Tapatalk 2

Check this lib. Is a very simplified way to run shell commands, without using outputStreams or stuff like that.
BTW, a root app isn't "more advanced", is the same thing. So, if you know how to develop an app, you can develop a root app

Thanks a lot every one. I'm getting on it
Request to download My app "Virtual reboot" and provide your feedback.

Thank RoberGalarga. That was really helpful

I just posted this thread because i couldn't find that list, if you know where it is then please tell me, theres no need to be all smart and everything.
I am hoping the guy who posted it reads this thread and points me to it.
consegregate said it all if you can read it...
lauchers are not at all made for specific phone.. so whichever you find is specified as launcher install it from market and use it... nothing special to research on it.. and if you want someone to recommend it for you then google might recommend you something

Too Many App Freeze on ICS

Hello,
This is my first post here. I hope you guys can help.
I updated to official ICS release recently from 2.3.6 (if i remember correctly). Since then I get too many application freezes. Generally games like DrawSomething, Plants vs Zombies... get frozen. I need to close the frozen app from task mngr and re-open it.
Anyone else having the similar problem or can you guys suggest me something to fix this error?
Thanks so much for all replies.

How many apps do you have installed? Have you tried to wipe dalvik and fix permissions?
Sent from my GT-P7510 using xda premium
1: please do a full wipe
2: most will run on stock ics
3: few won't run on AOSP.

I would uninstall all the apps you don't use regularly

Thanks for all replies. So by "wipe" you mean uninstalling every app?
Sorry if I sound stupid. I am kinda new to phone terminology.
I have many apps. I use them all I guess. :-/

Wipe as in full wipe / factory reset in cwmr

Seems like "wipe" is the only solution for me atm.
Could you please suggest me a back up app? And maybe a good "wipe" walkthrough forum topic link?
Thank you again...

Anyone can teach me how to make a simple Android app?

Can anyone just teach me the basics of using Eclipse and teach me how to make a simple Android App? I know to make only one simple android app with only Hello World!
I really would like to dive into Android App Development and I don't know how to start. I don't have any experience with Java or other programs.
Every time I try to make an app following android development guide I can not success cause I always getting some Errors, even when I fixed them my App imediatelly force closes. That web site is not explaining me very well. Also tried some guides from other web sites but nop I am not satisfied.
Can anyone just teach me to make simple app and I will work hard and will try to make that app even better and I will try to build my own app. Please. I really love it!

[Q] Using Sky Go on a rooted S3 with Cyanogen

I know there have been PLENTY of threads on xda trying to solve this and I've asked questions on the threads themselves and I'm yet to receive a reply. Can someone please give me a small guide (if possible ) how temp unroot.
1. Rootkeeper or any other app on the app store doesn't work when root is protected for me
2. SuperSU uninstall doesn't work for me
3. Flashing a zip to remove SuperSU and Busybox didn't work for me either.
There isn't a file with the name 'superuser.apk' that I could find.
Can anyone help with my predict? I really need to get this working before US Open
Sent from my GT-I9300 using Tapatalk 2
BTW I actually don't mind unrooting my phone for a few weeks as long as I don't lose data or backup. If there is a way to do this (which isn't considered a temp root) please let me know

Have you tried the temporary unroot option inside superuser. It always works for me?

I've just tried that and it didn't work. I don't know what the Sky Go app is detecting but I keep getting the same popup that Sky Go doesn't support rooted devices. But thanks for your help anyways mate

I also tried using Android 4.3 which seemingly doesn't have root access, so I don't know what the app is picking up.

Is this a country locked product? Also if it is free can you please provide a link to the application or maybe upload it, if I need to pay I will look into it

Sky Go is an application which allows people with a Sky subscription to watch TV on their devices, whether it be a tablet, phone or PC. I'm guessing u live outside the UK because Sky is quite popular here. As for the app, it is free, however you need an account to access it. Here's the link to it in the Play Store anyways.

I'm not sure if you can have a look at this without an account but let me know anyway buddy.

[Q] Building an automated script for Android apk

Hey XDA,
I'm trying to figure out how to build automated script that would perform certain actions for an android game. I have seen a script like this in action, so I know it's possible. But my skills are noob at best.
If someone can give me an idea how to do it I would really appreciate it!
I believe that I would have to first get the source code of the game, in order to get the specific commands that it executes when u perform the attack in the game, than write a script that would use my account info to send the same action (command) to the game server? And than automate the script.
Correct me if I'm wrong and please share some insight of the matter. I am guessing here at what I have to do, just from common sense intuition, otherwise I got no clue
Any thoughts would be welcome. I bet it's an easy task for some of you here!
Thank You,
Shlevy

Hey XDA folks,
I know this would sound like an easy project to some of you
Land a helping hand. All I need is a direction. I'm not asking for someone to sit down and write it for me, just show me the way
Thank you for participating,
