All Users, New and Old. - HTC Amaze 4G

If you've seen this video before, then you'll understand what it stands for, for the others? Watch, listen and don't be surprised when you never receive an answer.
This is a development site, a lot of effort is put into creating user friendly guides and tutorials.
In this Specific device forum, we put more effort into gathering all information and troubleshooting about this device here:
The Ultimate Guide to Everything Amaze-ing!(Amaze 4g BIBLE!) Updated Often
If it's absolutely NOT there, then find a thread similar to it and post in there, DO NOT post a new thread for every question, if you have an old thread post it there, if you have multiple questions, post it all in one post and if you have another question that comes to mind after that post, EDIT your post and add it in, DON'T MAKE THREE POST FOR THREE QUESTIONS, WE ARE NOT GOING TO READ, ANSWER, READ, ANSWER AND KEEP REPEATING THE SAME PROCESS WHICH COULD'VE BEEN DONE IN THE FIRST REPLY!
If you're too lazy to search for the answer to your own problem, then don't expect US to do it for you, we KNOW what's available and what isn't, so telling us you can't find it? Just lets us know YOU ARE LAZY.
If you're a total NOOB? I'd advise you to head over to the amaze bible, read, understand, read it again, understand and read AGAIN until you grasp the detail and understand what you're dealing with, if you don't get it? You must be a tad bit slow.
DO NOT bombard dev threads with questions, read their FAQ post, READ IT READ IT READ IT and again READ. Your question has been answered before and if you're the only one having that problem? It's obviously not the devs fault. Found a bug? If it's unique, worth looking at and it wasn't answered before, POST A LOGCAT, we aren't mind readers or magicians!
DO NOT post questions in the general forum! There is a question and answer forum for a reason, I from this day refuse to answer questions posted in the general forum, regular and advanced members should do the same, this practice has to STOP.

You get an answer or any kind of HELP, press the THANKS button, DON'T post "thanks", you're already welcome, but is it really relevant to post a whoooole post just to say "thanks"? really? There's a button for that.
Press thanks on every rom thread you open and download, you don't have any idea the countless hours devs spend creating the ROMs they do JUST FOR YOU to have better experience using YOUR device, though he/she is getting nada for it. Be grateful, press THANKS!
Donate to a dev if you can, a little donation is a very welcome and very much appreciated form of showing a dev their work is loved and appreciated, their countless hours of their own personal time was totally worth it and that you end users think they deserve just a kind token of appreciation for their work. It goes a long way, even if it's a simple 5 bucks, most of them are college/high school students, like many of our devs here, so hit that thanks button and donate if you can, it's very much appreciated.
Do Not PM devs or common regs or MODS unless they say they're okay with getting PM's, have a problem with a post? Then report it, not everyone wants their inbox being blown up with irrelevant questions and things that can be found in a forum, they usually have support threads, use those to let a dev know something, ONLY PM if it is absolutely important like you're-gonna-die-if-this-person-doesn't-help-you important. Got it? The reaction of some people will be VERY NICE for PM's about none sense and YOU cannot feel insulted if you get a rude response, you simply went looking for it.
I shall continue this post as I see things to be added, that is all, now go have fun reading, since that's where we learn all the basics before practice, you read read read, watch youtube videos of someone doing it. (There's a video of everything on youtube), then read read read some more, be sure and confident before attempting something you have no clue about, if you have NO clue about it, then why on earth are you about to do it? Don't be a noob, be a newb that's willing to be the next Recognized Dev/Contributor/Themer/Mod/Admin sometime in the future.
If you don't like what I have to say and think my point of view is somehwat "rude"?

To be fair, without the end user, your product is useless, but I get what you're saying.
Dark, I see your zeal, but it is time wasted. People do what they want regardless of what is said. Some of us fought the battle and got nowhere. I always like to see someone take up the mantle tho, keep it up
For everyone else, show some fkn courtesy and listen to what is being said. This isn't xda-babysitters! I'm out!

I agree. I made my Amaze toolkit for myself since I warrantied my phone in ever other day and wanted to make the process of rooting quick and easy. Then I shared it and made it better for myself.

Fr3vo, thanks to TeamWin. We all appreciate the hard work!

I just wanted to say thanks to the devs of TeamWin and everyone that was dedicated in the development section during these last couple weeks. There were tons of great ideas and this wouldn't be possible without everyone here at XDA
Can s-off come out and play? You run but you can't hide
It really is the most exciting time for the Evo3d right now. Knowing this phone will live up its predecessor is truly an awesome feeling given the feeling I had when knowing that we were left with HTC to give us something we needed to continue to make this phone developer friendly. I really do appreciate everything that everyone from TeamWIN and others that did make it happen. This community is really great so far, and I'm enjoying having a phone I can actually do something with now.

Thanks Team Win. I know you all have families, jobs, hobbies, etc; but you still found the time to get root within only one week of the phone officially being out. This is why you guys are my favorite group of devs.
Keep up the good work!

Agreed he is doing awesome. We needed some of that action in the OG EVO dev threads.
One thing I don't understand, from their post it looks like they are developing an s-off tool rather than just using the engineering hboot. I wonder why that is, if it is indeed the case.
PS I'm no noob, understand what root, s-off, and eng hboots are. Went through the whole process with the og evo.

there is something with the hboot partition still being encoded that it wouldnt let them just flash the eng hboot.. one of them mentioned it during the ban wave last night..

I was tired of reading about 4 pages of thanks in the dev thread about to break open on how to root the 3vo
So I opened this "thanks" in the "Dev section". I know it was the wrong place... but maybe there should be a place at the top for thanks - in the developers section?
This was my post:
I know that this may not be the best place for thanking the TeamWin developers....
But I guessed that most people would like a place to thank everyone, without doing it on the actual threads! lol
http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=1149998
And looking for something like this in the "General" section is well - who wants the general section now!
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Anyway, tons of thanks! Really amazing stuff!
Lets leave the dev threads open for the stuff we want - root on our phones! SWEET!
Maybe you guys could add a permanent "Thanks Header"... for the writing of some nice stuff.

Yeah don't even go in the Development forum because the over the line Mod in there is closing every thread even teamwin threads unless every post is about development.
Sad thing is no more development is going on since everyone is waiting on teamwin and they even said people should keep going on it to find other ways but you just can't post on XDA in that area lol.

I mean what's getting outta hand, there's people who ask questions/want answers and people who want to say thanks. I agree the thanks did overcrowd the devs from answering questions but i mean having to ban people LOL, like really? Way to lay the hammer on those internet guys you really showed them. He wasn't over the line, he asked folks to stop, nicely 2 times first and folks ignored him and continued the BS, then he warned about banning, and folks ignored him and continued the BS. Folks deserved what they got.

It's not end of discussion. They were temporary one day bans, dished out because people were constantly warned that it would happen if they didn't stop.

Why say thanks? You have a thanks button that you can use or have people forgot about that? So silly. The banning of people for 1 day was justified. He asked politely to stop the non dev talk a few times if I remember.

I see on here and I get a whooping for saying thanks. It is what it is, I've talked to him and apologized and told him I understand his stance. I try to be as helpful as I can for peeps on here, half my posts are in Q&A trying to help people. Try to be a productive member and give back to the community that has given me so much, anyway I can. I accept and understand he has a job to do. Just don't even post in the thread and wait for a mod to move or delete it. Move on. His intentions were to give us info that he thought was useful. No need to be asses and make him never want to post on xda again. So he's a little behind on the news, so what. We are relaxed. I think it's you that needs to relax. Take your own advice and move along. If you see a new thread on old news and in the wrong section, you already know that this guy will get flamed. Why even bother commenting if you can't handle it? Btw, it doesn't matter if this is his 2nd post. He has been a member long enough to know the consequences of posting old news in the wrong section. It also doesn't matter if he got the info late. A simple search could have told him whether or not the topic was covered.

Okay. Cool. I understand . Groovis.
And just an FYI...99% of the time I always do move along. I usually only post to help someone or answer a question. I have just seen so much flaming and trolling lately, and 90% of the threads here get trashed and filled with garbage , no matter what the OP was about. My personal opinion is that it is ridiculous and annoying to see. Oh well, I'm done. My opinion has been voiced. Have fun .
Edit: btw, I don't know why you even responded to me. I didn't quote you, nor did I single you out. It was a general statement to everyone and anyone that was going to flame the guy. Haha. Epic second post bro. Don't mind the rest of the board my man. We all have to start somewhere. Welcome and thanks for the laugh!
Ha ha ha ha...I quite literally read flames on those who make perceived stupid comments because it's a quick laugh. I personally think that the average IQ of most on these forums is probably a little higher than national averages...depending on the country in question of course. Regardless, that said those who flame most likely really don't care about some stupid post or late news, wrong section...blah, blah, blah...it's really about new and creative ways to flame. If they do care and are not a moderator, then perhaps they don't fall into the normal category of critical thinkers one can become accustomed too on these forums.
I've been flamed...who gives a [email protected]$t. Make your comments in the wrong section, late news quotes..whatever. This forum seems efficiently moderated, and the flames are entertaining at times. However, it does pay off to search and read.
What is this unlocked bootloader you speak of? Does that mean I can activate my Evo 3D on AT&T? OOOH...I can't wait for that! When did you say I can start using AT&T? August? I'll be watching this developmental thread to see what comes of this.

"thanks button" question

I keep seeing posts where the DB posting is begging in their sig for everybody to "hit the thanks button"
WTF is so important that you have to basically beg everybody to thank you????
Doesn't that kind of defeat the whole purpose of the thing?? If you have really helped somebody out they will probably hit the thanks button anyway, & if they don't you probably don't deserve it anyway....

I'm not begging
Why is it so important for you to make this useless post? Means something enough to you for you to say something about it right? Well the thanks button may mean a lot to other people, a sense of pride that they help people not just lurk and take
And not everyone knows about the thanks button so putting it in your Sig just helps spread the word
Hit thanks or ill hit you
XDA just adding the ability to say thanks in the Android apps. I for one will be using this feature a lot

I haven't decided whether the people who ask for thanks are insecure and need external validation of their self-worth or they're full of hubris. In either case, the thanks score doesn't amount to more than a

I suspect the begging is counterproductive, it's certainly impolite.
I have noticed a strong correlation between begging and signatures which tell you the last 10 phones they've had and include animated gifs proclaiming they're members of "TEAM 3l1t3 Haxors!!1!". Oddly, I haven't seen one named B1FF yet.
Why are you making a thread about this.

There are a lot of people out there that do beg for them and don't deserve them. If you do something or say something worth it you will get it.

This happens across the forums. And it does irritate me as well, but it's really not that bad. There are worse things that could be going on.
On a side note, as a troll post that I don't get to do very often. I thanked your op.

one you put in some time, and get nothing in return, it's nice to get a thanks at the very least for your time.
The Rezound community is the worst.
the people here just expect ROMs and MODs to be given to them.
We've already pushed away the best DEV we had ever working on the Rezound, and this crap right here is the reason.
Most devs aren't looking for money, but they sure would like to be thanked for their free time.
I must be slipping in my XDA lurking, didn't realize we had lost a Dev...!
If you get helpful information from someone it's just polite to hit the "thanks" button. Some of those who receive thanks use it as a status symbol.

hell, i made, in my mind, what is a really important topic: the bootlooping fix topic..and i only got 8 thanks in it lol but it doesn't bother me. it's nice to see myself getting thanked if i truly helped someone, but it isn't something i lose sleep over lol
Could you guys please hit my thanks button? I'll wash your car windows with some dirty newspaper, and what appears to be urine. Seriously, though. I think there are more lurkers here than you guys think. Some threads have 3000 views on here to fix something important, and the poor developer gets like 6 thanks. I know I don't do it enough. Exactly.
I thank devs whenever I can and even donated to Scott Scrosler when I wasn't even running his ROM at the time.
I'm talking about the posters that AREN'T devs but find it necessary to put "hit the thanks button" right in their sig on every single post.
I like the response saying it's counter productive, as I'm sure I'm not the only one who makes it a point to NEVER thank any DB that has that in their sig...LOL

I have to admit, when I edit over 800 .png images one by one by hand, and get over 1000 downloads, and under 20 thanks, I do get a bit irritated and makes me not want to post my work publicly. I can only imagine how the developers feel, cos trust me, they feel the same way..
I do understand that this isn't about the devs, it's about eh regulars that don't do nothing, but you have to understand from our point of view as well.
like I said, we lost the best developer ever to work on the rezound, no offense by any means to current ones, just saying that the actions of others really do ruin it for others..
honestly guys, if theres a thread that helped you out, a theme you download and use, or a rom you use, no one expects you to donate, but it does do a world of good to just hit the thanks buttons letting the person know their time has been appreciated. This goes for anyone. anyone thread that has helped, who cares if its a dev or not??
I agree that those should earn a thanks, but NOT everyone who has that in their sig is just asking for it. it's because like mike, who does ALOT for our community sees what i see, 100s of downloads, if not 1000s, and barely even 10-20 thanks.
I don't lose sleep over it as I know Mike doesn't as well.
but trust me, it does stop us from sharing what we do have.

Can I Ask Which Developer You Speak Of?

Giving Thanks... What happened?

Most of the collective guys know that I came from Inspire forums, and I made an ass of myself there a few times...
Coming from Inspire's forums, I have noticed something pretty big over here...
Most of the posts and replies here have, almost variably, little thanks from the posters and responders.
Community is a development process also. Trust is earned and gratitude given. I personally use the thanks button to say "I agree", or simply "thanks". By using the button I can express my feelings for the help I receive or the time it takes to post a reply.
When you look at one of your posts and you see that little thanks at the bottom, you feel appreciated and in turn do the same for others. I believe that the development strive is enhanced in this type of environment.
No one is forced to use the thanks button, or even post a thank you, and I feel a noticeable difference in this forum. Beside the somewhat helter skelter feel of this forum, I really like it here and plan to help this development grow as quickly and as positively as possible (I mean this is the point) so we can all enjoy it.
On a side note... It would be alot more uniform and easy to navigate if we started using the q&a section to its fullest with individual ROM threads i.e " Team Perfection Q&A". That being said I am going to ask permission to start these so we all will have a central point of reference. I would prefer the creator of a given subject be the OP on those threads, but I will simply start them and let them be monitored by the community and devs. I take no credit for any of these, and am simply looking for some method to our madness. I think this will help the development process greatly. IMHO

Agreed, i dont look for thanks as i am not a developer......but when someone has shown you something or like Tyler said when you see a post that you just have to +1 or agree with why not give thanks to keep everyone on the same page.
as for the devs and teams, i try and thank them whenever possible i use all of thanks for the day most of the time, lately it has been for the collective with there ROMS and Themes. or Da'g's kernel that we ALL use....lol
so if you cant donate, just show appreciation with at least doing that.
i like the community here, i just stay out of threads where i dont belong so i dont see alot of the BS...
Thanks and +1 Tyler
I don't really mind giving "thanks", but what bugs the **** out of me is when people ASK for it in their posts (not directed towards you by any means). It's not something you should be asking for, just like I don't go around giving favors and demanding a "thanks" in return. I've noticed this a big trend recently in a lot of posts.
Edit: the same goes for people telling me I should give "thanks" to someone else...I'll give it when I want to give it.

+1 to what he said. To all those that have " leave me a thanks if I helped you" have serious insecurities about their being.

Take the time to post a response or PM the person.
I think what you are all missing here is that people are here to help and they want to know if the suggestion given actually fixed a problem others may have been happening. They also want feedback on how well a fix worked and whether the process can be improved upon, whether new problems were created during the process, whatever.
Take the time to give your feedback via a post or PM, it makes all the difference in the world.
Also, ANY dev would prefer you donate monies if you can.
Understand that anyone who is posting their work here is doing so for the sole purpose of making the hardware perform as best as possible. If they werent interested in your feedback, they wouldnt post there work in a forum.
This isnt an ego thing, people want to be validated. They want to know whether their work is worth their time and whether they have actually helped others or just wasted their time.
Companies make the hardware, developers make the hardware dance.

Should I buy this phone?

Not to sound mean or anything, but if you take a look around the threads that have been posted to this board, you're going to find A LOT of feedback about what people have to say about their purchase.
You're in an EVO 4g LTE forum.. You should totally go against everyone on here and get an SIII.
Never understood asking on here. Read the forum, watch reviews, go play with it at the Sprint store. You have a brain, don't make us choose.
Here's a good analogy... Do you ask random people on the street how well some underwear may fit? Nope, I sure as hell wouldn't. You're best course of action is to try it for yourself. Now... That said, you can't test drive underwear and bring it back if you don't like it within 14 days (well, maybe you get that option with Wal-Mart). But you can go to a Sprint store, try the phone out, even buy it and return it in 14 days if you don't like it.
As the person above said, don't let others make the decision for you.

Ummm, your thread title states "Should I buy this phone?"
Please tell me how this isn't asking for help with your choice?
What I was simply stating is that there's no need to create another discussion thread asking if YOU should buy a specific phone. You should definitely go and check it out in a store, read reviews online, watch review videos on YouTube, and read through the existing threads in the EVO 4G LTE General board. There's no need to create another thread basically asking if you should buy the phone or not.

I really like this phone. I came from the EVO 3d as well and also had the OG EVO. I have to say that I am happy with ICS and sense 4.0. Now I am rooted running Rejuvenated ROM which is just a modified stock ROM and I am happier with stock modified than aroma installer and crazy roms from the 3D. My buddy has the SGIII and its a nice phone as well but I like Sense a little better and the feel of this phone. Its nice and solid and the screen looks crisp with the Super LCD. I hope that helps! Go to Sprint and get a hold of the phones and I think it will help you make your decision.

Sent from my PG86100 using xda app-developers app
Battery life is a huge improvement over any iteration of other evos and most phones period..the removable battery complaint is not an issue for me..unless it dies .then ill just get a new phone..the phone is everything you want it to be..but be warned multitasking is broken ..that is my only hatred for.this device..other than that the camera , screen speed etc are great and the build.quality is top of the line
Im loving the phone I would say yes over the S3. I seen the S3 at the store and it just didn't seem like that big of a upgrade. If u can do some trading ya but not enough to use $200 on. Also don't worry about others, some act like they invented cellphones and every thread posted in XDA they have to chime in and tell you you're wrong like they own this forum. Some take it personal if they don't like the thread. Hope you get a new Evo soon!

You can get feedback by reading threads. There's tons of threads with opinions, facts, specs, etc. There's no need to create another thread asking someone to give you direct feedback. Just seems pretty lazy. You'd rather read a thread you create that's not necessary, and hope someone actually feels like giving you their opinion, instead of just spending a little time reading one of the hundreds of threads about the EVO 4G LTE. This is literally the most useless type of thread to create...
Not to mention, I wasn't being hostile. I was giving you pointers on the best way to reach a decision. You're the one that wanted to respond back like you did:
"Well ****, I was just asking for feedback.

You can get feedback by reading threads. There's tons of threads with opinions, facts, specs, etc. There's no need to create another thread asking someone to give you direct feedback.
