Hey guys,
Just curious, the Samsung site says the popup player is resizable, but I don't know if I'm just retarded or what but I can't work out how? I've tried holding it, two fingers, holding and using the tilt to zoom motion etc. Has anyone been able to resize it?
Cheers

don't think it is at least Samsung never told me it was at unpacked

I'll send them an email cause their website said about resizing, will let you know when they reply.

They replied:
"The popup video player cannot be re-sized, It has a default size only. The Samsung website has no information to state you can re-size the popup video player."
This is from their website (http://www.samsung.com/sg/promotions/galaxys3/#greatness):
"Pop Up Play allows you to multi-task on the GALAXY S III’s 4.0”
HD SUPER AMOLED screen with fun and ease. Together with the powerful Quad-Core Processor, you can watch HD video while sending an email or text simultaneously within the same window. Resize a video and drag it to where you want it to appear on the screen. Chat with your friends while you surf the web."
Hmm, resize a video and drag it to where you want to me implies you can but apparently it just means resize it to the tiny window and then move it.. considering there's a few apps on the market that let you resize it I would have thought Samsung would have implemented it, but oh well.
i can see your point clearly, but i understand what they mean by resizing it. i mean, you are taking it from the big screen and " resizing " it to a smaller box. and you can move it around..
they are good with their words!
You can download "Super Video" from the market which allows a flow-table video window which can also be resized.

On the gs2 browser when i zoom in on text, it doesn't reflow.
Is there a way to get the text to reflow???
(because scrolling left to right is rather tedious)

bullsh*t. there are no settings for this. dont mix up text reflow with double tap fit to page.
i use opera mobile, the only one browser where it works on sgs2.

Isn't the option "Auto-fit pages" what you want?

This guy is right. It is double tap to fit the page.
Really annoying, the only thing I miss on my HTC Desire! Really would like full text reflow, but double tap really isn't that bad!
Opera is the only one with a propper rendering as you are searching for.
Has its own Presto engine coming with it. Best browser at the moment, imho. And I spent some efforts to compare, measure and daily-use almost all the existing browsers.
What I also like: it's the only browser that allows to activate a single flash content in a page with several flash contents.
HTML5-Test: 234+11 (stock: 182+1)
Browsermark: >60'000
Rendering: top
Same issue for me.
I switched to Dolphin Browser HD which is great and does text reflow.

Yes it's very smooth, and you don't get the frequent checkerboarding. Make sure you get Opera Mobile rather than Opera Mini.
I don't understand why some people have to lie on this subject !
Some SGS2 owners (a minority, but still) said in this forum that if they pinch to zoom (even to a very large size), and then *slowly double tap on the screen*, text reflow will happen (without zoom being changed). They said they can achieve text reflow at any zoom level using this method.
Apparently you can't trust anyone here. If someone thinks he can do this, please post a video so we could all see it's possible (as of now there a ZERO videos on the net showing this is possible).

It does not. As has been stated already only Opera Mobile does it properly on the S2, so far. Stock: nope. Dolphin: nope. Don't let anyone fool you.
Dolphin Browser HD can reflow (see screenshot, full version of Lifehacker website, not the mobile version).
I really don't understand...on my device and another 2 of my mates devices with dolphin installed and fit to pages ticked we can never get it t reflow when piched to zoom..it will only reflow on double tap...how come people keep saying it will reflow on pinch to zoom??? plse tell me how to do it???

Hi!
I don't know if i should post this on galaxy ace forum because it's not about the galaxy ace itself. I'm sorry if i'm posting on the wrong sub-forum but you guys are the experts with galaxy ace.
I'll ask for your help anyway
Is it possible to turn an image into .apk? I would like to make some kind of app that shows me an image in full screen (320x480) on my SGA.
If the app already exists, can you tell me what app is that?
Thanks a lot
1. This should be in the general section
2. Isn't that what the Gallery app does?

You don't need to turn an image file to apk to make such app. You need to make an app to read, open, and show you image file(s). The gallery is already there. You can find bunch of the like apps in the market too, e.g. QuickPic.
What on earth for??
Hi all!
Thanks for your tips.
Perhaps i explained myself badly, i''m sorry.
I don't want to open a random picture with gallery. I want an app to open the SAME picture every time i open the app.
Imagine that you have a picture of your grandmother on your wallet, i want more or less the same thing on my phone
I just need press the app icon and voilá, my picture is shown in fullscreen. that's what i was looking for.
Yesterday i was watching some videos on youtube and i now have more or less the idea what i need to do to make such an app.
The problem is that i'm not very savvy with with Java and Android SDK and it will take me some time create the app that i need.

Are you using stock? Do you have 3DGallery?
Well... If so... I barely remember a widget that allows you to place an image wherever you want in your screan... Like having a photo frame on your desktop... I don't know if you know what I mean... But right now I can't remember the name of the widget... But id does pretty much what you are looking for

Ok thanks
I've found an app "Android Photo Widget" that does more or less what i need.
I've added a new screen to SGA and with this widget i picked a photo for that screen.
The only problem is that the picture is always showing and i just wanted the picture to be shown after i press the app button. It does what i wanted, just not by the way i wanted but it's ok.
I'll keep looking for a better app anyway but this one does the job.
Hi all,
I've already posted this in the N7000 forum and I guess most of you are new here so I don't want you guys to miss out on this really cool find.
Since the note has such a big screen why not push the boundaries and try out some try desktop-style multitasking

Of course, it's android gingerbread. If you're referring to the 3D UI, I have a galaxy note tutorial on my channel here:

Hey I just want to say thanks for sharing this with us! It is very nice to have someone from the International Note forum share the true awesomeness of our devices! Much better than just "oh I forgot this is AT&T note, your device is crap"
coldfustion has the best vid's. tx for sharing it! i ASSume our snapdragon processor can do the same thing, maybe with a touch of lag, maybe not.
i was at a family dinner Friday and i can never think how to show off the phone as everyone is asking me about it. his vid's always give me new ideas
Halleluja! I've been asking for something like this for months. See my split screen/multiview thread in the N7000's theme/app forum. Now please add a couple features:
1. "Snap" like Windows 7 Ultimate has, but slightly different. Make it so that when you drag the app's title bar to a side, it snaps to fully fill the screen halfway on that side. Dragging to a corner makes the window snap to fully fill that 1/4 of the screen. If you have the screen filled with 2 windows (or 3 or 4), make it so you can drag the border between windows and they'll automatically resize at the same time to maintain the screen filled.
2. Have the notification bar pull down over all windows.
If you add these features and make it work, I'll buy a copy for $50.
P.S. Why in the world, if the Note's capable of running all of that at the same time, did Samsung feel the need for such aggressive RAM management that I can't currently switch from my browser window to email, one other app, then back to the browser without my entire browsing session being closed down!?
oh, didnt know this was a promotion for a bunch of PAID apps
thanks anyway

I didn't think it read like an ad. Then I saw both were paid apps and read it again.
That said, for $1.49, I figured, why not?
Both work great on my I717. Stock ROM, not rooted, running ADW Launcher EX, and using hacker's keyboard. I was able to run two 1080p videos at the same time with the video program, and was able to run 3 you tube videos on the browser. No problems with keyboard. The only problem with lag is it seems as I run more and more videos the sound and video gets a bit out of sync.
Thanks for the link. I like the browser because I am often copy/clipping stuff, or re-keying stuff from the browser window to somewhere else and that makes it much easier. I don't know that I'll use the video thing much, but its neat to show off, as others have said.
Wow, thanks for the information, especially about the 3D UI. It led me to discover many cool apps that I didn't know about before. I really like the Windows-like Contact app and Alternative App Drawer apps especially. Thanks again!

That is a great app and it shows what the future will be for smart phones. Big screens that are used in a Landscape mode for most functions. The only need for portrait is to hold it up to your ear to make a call.
People are making a lot less calls.

Hi I researched and could not find anything about this apps, maybe you guys know please post your answers and if they don't exist, developers heads up.
Looking for apps that do:
1.an app that you can schedule the time in which you want the volume, system volume, etc on/off(example set monday-Friday from 6am-5pm on silent so you don't get in trouble at work)
2. A multitasker app best recommended from you guys, basically I'm looking for an app that can run on the background and let's me minimize windows as if I were to be using the tablet.
3.an app better than volume+ which I have but notice no difference on the sound
4. I love bodybuilding, except from bodybuilding.com which lacks of lots of info and media, I wonder if you guys came across some app that is like a youtube for pumping iron
5.best Facebook picture uploaded, nice effective simple
6. Any where I can download full episodes of family guy

1. "Volume ace" app lets you have full functions of all volume aspects. And can make certain profiles for each day or for certain hours...pretty cool...I believe its a paid app though..
2.multitasking app.....I believe "overskeen" is the best it allows a widget type on any home screen. You can allow any url brower so u can set one up for youtube and watch videos and still acess phone with minimizing the widget....
And for volume its recommended ypu need root to increase the volume curve within the phone parameters to have a change to stick so to speak...others just don't seem to work without root.. that's why volume+ isn't working for you...that app does work nicely specially on gingerbread which your on... good luck bud

Hello!
One of my favourite things from the Note 2 is the ability to write messages with the stylus. I was hoping there was some drawing version of whats app where I could write my message and send it in a SMS form (like how whats app worked) but couldn't find anything until I saw Chat Draw or something like that on the Samsung market.
Unfortunately I have no idea how to get it to work to send a message to anyone other than myself otherwise it does exactly what I wanted (writing a message with the pen and being able to send it like that, without it converting to text). Couldn't find a way to contact the app developer either.
Has anyone got this app to work or found something else that will work?
If you use the Samsung keyboard, when you take out the Stylous it automatically goes to hand-writing mode.
I suppose this is what you are referring to.
He's talking about sending his messages in handwriting form. You can try doodle text? Not sure if it's good though.
EDIT: never mind. It sucks.
Sent from my Galaxy Note 2 using xda premium
Yes I meant sending messaging in handwriting form.
If you check Chat Draw on the Samsung market you will see what I mean.
