just installed it with 20% of battery (very stupid, i know), 10 minutes of stress and i'm done. First thing i noticed radio is much better. After last update i had problem with reception in my house. Now its again good or better than 2.36 or chinese leak.
I see new icons for signal, new transitions, and opening app much faster ( try with opening settings ! ).
Don't talk to much, you take me the surprise

small update, do I need to factory reset after this update or is it not neccesary? When I flashed .33 I did it. But this is so small that u dont need to?
Uh oh. got an install failed notice, something about kindle, selected reboot phone and now she is bricked. Wont turn on.
Any suggestions?
EDIT: When I try and boot up using volume +/- and power, I get the dual core logo for a second and then the phone goes dead again.

why is the wifi icon now more far away from the signal bars?
I didnt like this at all going back to .33 if it is worth anything it will come OTA, seems like some testing leak...not recommended
Thanks. Somehow I was able to figure out how to get it into fastboot mode. All back to normal.
Guess I am the only one who had an issue getting it installed.

So you had bloat removed... the OP warns about this. Fastboot restore.
Guys, afer installing this patch, GUI works about 2x faster for me. So, the latest ICS fastboot cannot be final. THANK YOU!
Is this an official leak or some custom effort? I've put it and it seems like an improvement but i 'm worried if it will void my warranty or if it will not allow me to get any other official future update.

go ahead and do the update, or not?. My phone is unrooted, lagfix installed, GPS runs good and so is AP mobile. Everything works flawlessly. I heard/read and saw lots of people have problem with the OTA update. Do i miss anything if i don't do this update? I am thinking of waiting until the Froyo release. I know to do the update, I should remove lagfix, ext 2. My main concern is the availability of AP Mobile after update? Any advices. Thanks.
You may run into issues if you install it with the MobileAP mod.
There's a new version of MobileAP that supports JI6 just fine - you'll just have to reapply that new version from the MobileAP thread after the update. Be sure you undo the lag fix first or you'll be in a world of hurt.
The OTA may fail on your phone even so, but it's easy to flash the JI6 update via ODIN and get everything working again.
Thanks for the replies. The only thing I don't know how to flash using odin.

You're in the right place.. here are a thread that can help you if you need to use Odin. Hopefully the OTA will work fine.. just remember to undo that lag fix.

I used the OCLF, which was an easy one-button undo. I'm not sure about what needs to be done to undo any of the other lagfixes.. maybe those threads have the answers.

OK. I removed OCLF and EXT2, then go ahead and do the update. However, during the update process, the % bar 0-100%, near the end when it reached 100%, I got a prompt "update failed, your fone will reboot". Now, looks like I am stuck at the boot screen (Vibrant and SAMSUNG screen). What should i do now?
One thing though, I was able to put the phone in the Download mode (volume up/down, pwr button). But when i select re-install packages, i got message "no update.zip file on sdcard". Is it ok if i put "update.zip" file on the SD card (root) and reinstall? Will this restore the phone? Thanks.
I ran into the same thingwhen I tried to install the ota update...ended up having to reflash...i just don't think its worth it to update....if it isn't broke don't fix it...lol

I just got the OTA update and I was rooted and OCLF lag fixed with clockwork installed and wireless tether installed.
After the update I was still rooted, lag fix still worked (quadrant about 2300~ or so) and wireless tether just worked.
To be honest I don't like the update becase of crap running in the background and the new task killer administers vacuum to genital organs of decayed donkeys...but it all went smooth.

Follow directions to SBF your phone back to stock Froyo
HERE
After you have followed those directions, THIS IS IMPORTANT PEOPLE, go thru the setup, *228 option 1 and all.
Go ahead and do a factory data reset/wipe your phone from Settings>>Privacy>>Factory Data Reset
After wiping the phone re-root with Gingerbreak and instal Tenfar Lin's Recovery.
Tutorials for rooting and installing recovery as well as additional download links/mirrors can be found in the sticky or here:
Root
Recovery
Place the downloaded GB Pre-Rooted file un the root(top of filesystem/not in any folder) of your externad sd card and rename to "update.zip".
Reboot into recovery thru Tenfar's Bootstrap Recovery app and select "Apply SDCARD : update.zip"
NOTE : It will take a long time, about 15 minutes... EDIT: I dont remember how long it takes with the new prerooted version.... I did this at work yesterday...
Reboot your phone. IT WILL BOOTLOOP!!! EDIT: If it bootloops, pull battery, reboot holding power and volume down, use volume down to scroll to stock/built in recovery, press volume down and up at the same time twice until you get the menu, wipe/factory data reset....
The phone will seem to stall at the eye, but give it time... EDIT: I wasnt watching as I was doing this at work....
Eventually you will be at your home screen and all will be well and rooted in the wonderful world of GingerBread!!

Wow, this first time I tried rsd it called the device 'fastboot' rather than the usual Daytona
I tried again after several battery pulls and got to where it called it Daytona and went ahead and flashed and thank you, it worked.
Even scarier was that I could not boot to use the nandroid backup either! I plugged into the wall outlet without the battery, inserted the battery and still had boot failure 1!!
I thought it was supposed to be possible to sbf back to 2.2? I am stuck in a boot loop now....sigh
great, tried again and notice that my error 7 says error in /sdcard/update.zip <sigh>
back to the same issue I think...
Just so EVERYBODY knows, I got the sdcard error and the bootloop issue and I panicked and SBF-ed again!!! After the second sbf I ran the update one more time and got the installation aborted error and sat at a bootloop for a few minutes... let it work... P3Droid himself said that it will abort, and it will bootloop and take some time. As I stated in the How-To, his instructions aren't very detailed and along with my own issues I decided to write the How-To...
I think I finally got this to work, thanks for the help. I was pondering if it would be better to run over the phone with my car or say I had lost it...

No problem with English but will be great a Multilingual Rom for all international users...

For the skipping sprint activation you also can freeze all apps with "sprint" (or sprint zone and sprintOmaDm as minimum) in the title via titanium backup.
They have a "stockish" rom that is in the development section that everyone is ranting about. By I personally am running the Alien ROM. which is okay. But I'd go with either Star Wars or the Stockish ROM myself. I'm gonna be flashing over the Stockish one tomorrow.
Thanks to all...
now i'm flashing Alien.....
after, if i'm not happy try others...
Good luck.
Flashing Alien rom will not skip the long network check on boot. Do not and i repeat do not freeze the Sprint zone as this causes a force close when it finishes the check upon reboot and causes it to check over and over again. (first hand experience of this)
Simple solution, put pbone into airplane mode before powering off, add the widget to your home screen. When you re boot knock it out of airplane mode and will connect to your network provider and no need to change any settings.
This was posted in another thread but cannot remember which one.

If your phone is unlocked then flash the full puddin SBF file using RSD. Make sure it's the big file and not the one that's around 1 - 2 mb. Once finished it will say fail, pop the battery and re boot. Should now work again and do the long network check but without force close. Then just use airplane mode before shutting down each time.
Again do not freeze or remove sprint zone, that is the cause of the force close, not the roms.
Maybe an easier way but that's what I had to do.

Freezing SprintOmaDm disables the Sprint check. However, for some reason, the slide locks are disabled.
If there's a fix, I'd love to hear it...

Looks like the pudding_stock_unlock.sbf link is no longer available. I still have it on my machine but it weighs in at just under 2.5GB (silly me, its 404MB when zipped, uploading to FileFactory now)
Think your best option at present is to go back to basics. Firstly flash the stock recovery from here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1216143
Then download and flash the latest ota for rsd from here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1202666

Yes go through the process of erase recovery then flash the stock recovery, take note that it is .smg just in case you think its .img
Then get RSD fired up and select the official update, phone into rsd mode and wait for it to complete. If all goes well it will say you need to manually re boot your device.
Any probs let us know and will try our best

Glad you are back up and running
So you did not freeze the sprint zone at all?
When i flashed the HomeBase Photon Stock rom it went through the network check, hit ok at the end and got a force close. Must admit that never happened with the Alien rom though.
This is why now i am only rooted. Installed the latest update and just rooted. Had too many issues with custom roms, to be honnest stock is very fast and i also use ADWLauncher EX. You can also freeze/unistall the bloatware if need be, there is another thread with a list of safe apps to remove, but not sprint zone lol

Ok, so last night my phone downloaded the update (guessing Gingerbread). I'm still running 2.2.1 on my Thunderbolt, as I was out of the country for the past few months. I caught the phone before it completed the installation and thought that if I removed the PG05IMG.zip file from the sd card, that would prevent it from being able to install the update. I turned the phone back on and it began to attempt to install the update again. I would like to flash a new ROM to the phone (as I was simply rooted without a custom ROM before) so that I am running 2.3+ but I don't want to have to re-root the phone. I would like to be able to back everything up before I flash a new ROM. How do I prevent the phone from installing the OTA update that was inadvertently downloaded last night , which will unroot my phone??
Please help! Thank you
Not sure if you can stop it at this point and since the phone can still be rooted with the GB update, it may just be easiest to let it go.
Otherwise, if you really want to stop the update, you probably need to boot into Fastboot and find the files that are part of the update. From my Eris days, the OTA update isn't packaged up in the PG05IMG.zip file that you removed. I'm not sure where the files are or what files are the ones you need to delete though...
Someone fee free to correct me, but if you flash the CWM recovery it will prevent the update from happening?
Essentially, I just use the phone for wireless tether, so that's mainly why I root. Doubt that changes much of anything...

I stumbled into clockwork recovery earlier... I will see what I can accomplish if I can make it back there!
Side note.. I can get into the phone for a minute or so before it restarts again.

Two thumbs up! So far, so good as for this recommendation. Thank you!!!
Any thoughts on how to prevent VZW from pushing this update from now on?
Also need the best 2.3+ ROM... or is CM9 with 4.0 on the way??

Install a non-stock ROM. Don't worry, you can get Sense-based ones that won't be anything "new".
It appears that VZW will eventually force the update so there's no way that I'm aware of to stop it while running stock (even rooted stock).

Flash a ROM that has the update. There are a few around here that are 2.11.605.5 that you flash in Recovery so that it'll stop bugging you to update. Just pick one that is already rooted. You can do a backup of your currrent rom, flash the 2.11.605.5 then restore your data and your all set....

There are a couple threads on preventing ota updates. A quick search will tell you what file to rename and how to.

Installing now...
having a problem reinstalling TWRP. I followed all the commands and here is a copy of what Happens when I flash
C:\Users\Robert\Desktop\files\TWRP_for_mate2\TWRP_for_mate2>fastboot flash recovery twrp.img
target reported max download size of 804257792 bytes
sending 'recovery' (14382 KB)...
OKAY [ 0.469s]
writing 'recovery'...
OKAY [ 0.328s]
finished. total time: 0.797s
but when I try to boot into it it starts up the stock recovery. Any suggestions on how to install TWRP and make it stick or how to gain root because I mainly use TWRP for root.
I also get this screen sometimes when trying to boot into boot loader. The phone doesn't seem to vibrate like it does when it boots normally or loads recovery and boot loader.

The usb is connected but I haven't tried to send anything to the phone or told anything other than to reboot system when it boots into stock recovery. If I leave it , it just sits there doing nothing so I rebooted and it boots just fine. Should I try to reflash stock recovery and then flash TWRP?
Found a way to at least let the phone get using TWRP without apparently being able to boot into it for some reason. Don't know if you can backup and restore backups using this method but at least its a temporary workaround. I found it at this site https://aubykhan.wordpress.com/2013...t-into-twrp-or-cwm-recovery-without-flashing/. below is the guide copied from the site.
Prerequisites
•An unlocked bootloader – It is just a command away on Nexus devices. Google will give you very useful links depending on your device type.
•ADB with Fastboot – Check out this link: http://www.jailbreakeye.com/android/install-adb-fastboot
•A custom recovery image – TWRP or CWM (check the Download recovery or Download touch recovery columns)
Guide
1.Copy the downloaded recovery image (.img file) to the folder where you have placed your ADB and Fastboot.
2.Launch terminal (or command prompt on Windows).
3.Navigate to the directory where you have placed the ADB, Fastboot and .img file together.
4.Shut down your phone and reboot into boot loader. For nexus devices, simply hold volume down + power to start up the phone.
5.Connect your phone to your computer.
6.On terminal (or command prompt) window, write fastboot boot <img file name>, e.g. fastboot boot twrp.img.
7.Your phone will restart and will boot into the recovery mode.
That’s it. As simple as it can get!
Hopefully this will help out those who are having trouble getting into TWRP after updating to B321.

It's very stable. Lots of things are now fixed. Getting 3rd party launcher to stick after reboot is now working. Actually, I have been using it as my daily driver for several days. Not even rebooted since install. This may be released to public, at least as the next preview.
Which launcher?

Nope. Still quite a few issues with notifications, led issues and issues with losing APN settings at random requiring a reboot. Sounds like you've just been lucky.
Have to consider user error. How many of those having issue are stock. Not rooted and LCD density changed etc. Not all issues are the fault of the rom. I am sure Huawei is taking that into consideration.

same happened with me. did the b321 ota and got stuck on boot screen. had to go back to b309 and now cant get back to b320.
How long did you let it run. It can take a good while on first boot...
I let it sit there so long i had forgotten about it all together. so at least 10-15 min on huawei splash screen. not the emul loading screen. i dont think a 30-40mb upgrade should take longer that it takes to load a complete image

And when i search for updates now I get nothing... stuck on b309 i guess.

My phone is stock. Nothing added and no root. The issues are apparent and have been reported by other users, so the issues I have posted are NOT user error. A number of them have been confirmed as being fixed in the next release. 321 won't be the next release to the general public.
Confirmed fix in next release? Who is running the "next release"?
The b321 ota might be a good thing, but it's new enough that I am wary. I just upgraded to b320 less than a week ago and still haven't gotten everything situated on the phone. I've had some issues with Nova Prime launcher on power up. I have one question, er maybe two. What improvements if any make this new update a good choice and will I once again have to reload everything back onto my phone?

You have to put b320 or 309 update on the root of your sd card in folder named dload. do the three finger reset ( vol + vol- and PWR ) it will then install b320.
My guess is that you were still rooted when you updated, you have to be stock.

Sorry for your headaches. I have had no issues but I am using a clean install with no root or other magical add-ons.

You are correct about the notifications but that is an EMUI thing and they have no intentions (so far) of changing EMUI, so deal with it or get a notification add-on app. (Sorry for my bluntness.)
What LED issues?
My APN has been perfect. I am on ATT. Not sure what your APN issue might be but I'm not seeing others with APN issues.
No reboots for me and no need for reboots.
So, yeah, I'm lucky I guess. Or maybe I have a clean install without root. Or maybe I just know what I'm doing.

Notifications were working fine on JB. There are issues since the update that need to be addressed. EMUI had it working just fine prior to the update to L.
There are no LED notifications for some notifications at times and I have yet to get a notification via the LED for Facebook. With and without a third party app.
The APN issues are documented and reported by other users. It is being fixed in the next release.
My install, yes, was not clean, but only an upgrade from 309. I have never had root. Yes, of course, you and Moody are experts and the rest of us are idiots. You both sure like to insinuate that in your posts. It's a little tiresome, but if it makes you feel better, I guess feel free.
