[Q] Switch to GB ROMs from ICS ROMs.. How? - Sony Ericsson Xperia Neo, Pro

I am currently on a custom ICS ROM.. And I want to try some GB ROMs too.. So what should I do?

Flash generic global .42 (comes with correct kernal) root it then OTA update to 62 install cwm then go from their do wat you want

But since I have an unlocked bootloader, do you think I would be able to update OTA?
Won't it brick the phone?
Sent from my MT11i using xda premium

mine brick while update through OTA.i have to relock BL with s1tool...

So what should I do?
Should I flash the 0.62 ftf file using flashtool directly and then root it with the Doomlord's kit?
Or any other suggestions???

He's on unlocked bootloader, why messing with ota's..
@OP: if you wanna jump straight to some custom rom: flash .62 .ftf, and flash any custom kernel advised by rom creator.
Its same as you did with ics, first stock .ftf then kernel, then rom.

Hey man. If you previously were using the latest ICS Sony ROM before hopping to a custom ROM, then simply flash the kernel of that Custom GB ROM, wipe everything and flash as usual. You are good to go. There is no need to downgrade so long as you're on latest.

1. Yes u can, with GB ftf file.
2. If u think on ROMs like CyanogenMod ROM answer is no, u must first unlock ur BL.
1. Of course u can, just download the file and flash it with flashtool
2. Some custom rom need unlock bootloaders to be installed, but another rom no need that.
I think if u want to install more custom rom, mod, root and etc, unlock bl is the best way

Guys, thank you very much. I succesfully downgraded to GB official stock ROM.
Now my last but very important question is - i dont like GB and i still dont like ICS (i downgraded only because of better battery life in GB), but i want to test some custom ROM (like AOKP rom posted in Sola section).
As much as i red i can not flash this ROM without unlocking the bootloader and installing CWM on my phone, is that right?
Actually the question i wanted to ask was - if i unlock bootloader can i flash custom rom with Flash Tool or i can flash only with CWM (which i dont know but i dont want to use)?

Since you are on unlocked bootloader i suggest you install jb. It has been ported for sola too but don't know if and which bugs could exist.
If you want to restore the stock rom, search the ftf file from sola development section and dowload it. Flash it via flashtool and you are done.

jb is jellybean. Latest android os. Check here a modified version of jb --> http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2288630
.img is not the custom rom but the kernel mate.
As about stock: download the ftf and open it with winrar. Extract kernel.sin and flash it via fastboot mode. After that flash via flashmode the ftf..
Stock
Jb(jelly bean) is a new branch of software newer than Ics(ice cream sandwich), in my opinion i recomend ultimate rom V4z but you have to read the instructions and last posts carefully.
In case you still dont want to install a new rom, heres the stock,

From sola android development section you can find custom kernels with autoroot script and cmw integrated since your bootloader is unlocked.
Here are some links for kernels based on stock ics:
