Version 4 works pretty good for me.
Rename as per instructions. Then copy the file and rename it to the quick search name. Reboot. profit!
Back button doesn't always fully exit the app though. Also vice search is non functional yet.

I have it working on my Touchpad without voice of course. My workaround for voice is to use the voice recognition built into the latest Swype beta, as my microphone has been working fine with the latest CM9 nightlies.

I think you are on 2.1
download unzip and install the file
Link :: http://www.filedropper.com/voicesearch21
after installing it, remove the google search widget from the homescreen and again place it. you will find the voice mic icon next to it (...or restart your phone) also pressing and holding the search button will activate the voice
voice search
attached zip
follow the above instructions
Thank u very much......

I was looking for a solution and found this. It works so much as to the mic icon appearing in the apps (voice search, translate) but when launching it crashes. Any ideas?

Here you go, these should work in CM7.
Just put the apk in system\app
and the lib in system\lib
Change permissions to system ones, restart and thats it.
Anyone tried this?
I tried only with MIUI and it's not working...
On CM7, not working
My voice dialer works but nothing else works...iris, google translate, google voice search. Either shows no speech input or shows device not compatible
Same here. Used to work better than the app in CM7. But no longer works. About permissions, how do i do it? id try with diff apps to give it but didnt work either. It says, couldn copy the file
The file from SpawNyK (last post on page 1) works on cm7 no problem...(thanks btw). I've been using it since then (Oct) and no problems with Goggle translate or others...probably used it on close to 100 different nightly builds... hehe

[App] Google Now for ICS Roms

A working Google Now for ICS AOSP ROM...

Thank the OP in the above link if it works for you!
Got it up and working on my phone. I'm running Shostack2 3.1.1
Many similar threads on XDA , NOT COOL !1!
I can see multiple similar threads on half-baked Google now from JB which is still quite buggy... atleast one in all smartphone's theme section ...
You should mention whats working and whats not before directing someone to this link ... is not very usable as of now.

Exactly, I've had this for a day or so, and voice search isn't working. But they're aware of that issue, and attempting to fix it. OP should mention that voice doesn't work.

Voice-to-text will not work without kernel support or a hack forcing the app to use the existing Google Speech-to-text implementation. Either direction will take an obscene amount of time, i'd imagine. Don't wait up...
Why is this sinking down the app list?! People need to see this!

After using for several days, one issue I've noticed (besides voice search not working), is that the "cards" do not automagically "appear" on my phone. Rather, to view any card, I have to manually open the app. Once there I see a relevant card, such as the weather, or the length of my commute to work when the phone figures it's time for me to go to work. But my understanding is that Google Now, working properly, is supposed to make these cards "pop up" on your phone, rather than you having to manually open the app.
tks,trying...

Yes. Search for mikeyxda07. I believe that's the file. One of the xda devs (mike) has one up and running. Also, I think Shostock has it in his ROM. Why not just switch to JB and install it with one of the various Aroma gapps installers? Works well.

Shostock no longer has Google Now included, Shoman removed it..

How To Install Google Now on ICS - HP Touchpad

Google has released Jelly Bean source code, and CM10 development is underway, but while we are waiting, we can install Google Now, the new search tool from Jelly Bean onto our Ice Cream Sandwich Android device.
You will need to download the Velvet.apk file from here:
https://www.dropbox.com/s/j85otexnkoktfiv/Velvet.apk
As usual, you can discuss this and ask questions at the REVTV Website Forum:
http://www.reverendkyle.com
Thanks for the video, I've had this working for a few days and had the same results you did with the network error message at first and voice not working. My workaround for voice is to use the new voice recognition that is built into the latest Swype betas since my TP microphone is working now.
Swype beta?
How do you get swype on the TP?

Its supported now, just download the beta installer from their website and install, no modifications needed anymore.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1747224 <- you should try this. no build.prop changes or anything crazy required. i havent tried it on my touchpad yet but i would assume it works cause its on my phone.
As new versions become available, I think this will get easier and better to use.
I can't wait until the voice works.
Rev, you're on CM9, right? I thought the microphone was still not working on the touchpad? I haven't actually turned my touchpad on since February, so admittedly I'm behind the times, but I haven't seen any rom saying the mic was working.
Official nightlies mic function is working...
The current official nightlies all have a working microphone and pretty stable wifi... The camera is the one that is not working yet... Hope that happens anytime now...
Sent from my PG86100 using xda app-developers app
Yes, the mic is working fairly well in the most recent nightly builds.
As far as the camera goes.... that might still be a while.
Thanks, looks like today is bring your touchpad to work day for me, I'll update it finally.
I'll just wait for the packaged deal.......glad cm10 is underway and can't wait.

I installed the latest version of Google Now with the Voice Search feature active, and I must say, it doesn't work great on the Touchpad. Its very slow, the screen flashes, you can't use the search button within the app, and the external voice connection app requires you to press enter in the Google Now app to run a search.
I'll wait for CM10.
AWESOME!!! Thanks a lot
Epic 4g got gNow working flawlessly. I wonder if the same fix could work for the jb alpha alpha pre-alpha rom that we'll soon be nomming on...

Out of curiosity, why is this so hard to get it working on ICS ROMs? On every phone I've seen, they've been able to port over most of the Jellybean stuff to ICS without issues, but Google Now just will not port over nicely. Seems like it's just an app to me and would require less work than others, but I know nothing about developing.

That's the issue, it isn't JUST an app. It's actually a series of apps that work together along with the framework and some other fun stuff. Not as easy as throwing an APK on your device.

Still a bit buggy but it is getting better.

Google search .apk

Hello, I was wondering if anyone can provide a Google search apk. I do not like the search that is installed in all the new ROMs that first takes you to Google results then after you pick a result it takes you to browser I want a version that bypass that and takes me directly to Google results but in my browser. If anyone has an older version can you please share? I have found several searching online but the resolution on the widget is horrible. Thank you. So I'm assuming the one that I don't like is w. Google now I want an old version.

I think you've got to flash ics gapps as its jb, I don't like it either so if someone can help?
THISIS50.COM IF IT'S HOT IT'S HERE
Yeah im sure its something that is still being worked on but sucks that its included in all roms. Replacing app with google searck apk works but I think because of the difference in android 2.3 and 4.0 the search Icon looks all weird no matter which version you install but it dies replace google now
Sent from my PG86100 using xda app-developers app
I sorted it with an apk from another rom everything works fine I would up but not able to.
THISIS50.COM IF ITS HOT ITS HERE
Removed. Sorry posted in wrong thread.
ROMs with Aroma installer give you the option to install it or not check it out... I just installed Team genesis Sense 4.1
And during instalation I didn't check the option and it installed the normal google search

If it is still of interest, there is an alternative available in play store: QuickSearch of Ozmium.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=net.ozmium.QuickSearch
Besides providing a widget, it's an app as well, doing what you described: opening the search results in browser.
Cheers

Emoji keyboard works on stock eu jb. Here is flashable zip:
https://db.tt/dD13Nvja
Long press to switch to emoji keyboard, vol- to switch to dialpad keyboard, back button to go back to google keyboard.
Sorry I cant attach any picture right now.
If you have google now force closed, put this into your system/lib and set permission. Replace the one you already have there. I suggest you guys make backup before doing this.
Google now fix:
https://db.tt/5cuPkvva
This is google home pack flashable zip, (I only try this on slim bean 4.3.1, not yet tried on other rom or other android version). Before you flash this, go to system/lib and delete this: libgooge_recognizer_jni.so
Then flash this zip with custom recovery:

Always make backup first!!
Hello me!!! Its me again!!!
I have the launcher, voice search, YouTube, play store, gsm, keyboard and wallpapers installed. Launcher is AWESOME. Only issue so far is voice search keeps stopping. (BTW, you MUST have Google home, voice search and gsm installed for the launcher to work)

Ive try that...I lost back key function on slim bean...do you have same problem? Keyboard fc on mine...
Hello me...its me again...
The launcher don't work in my razr.
You CANNOT push them to system/app yet for some reason. Pushing them to system/app causes them all to crash, and also causes the back button to fail. Install all as a regular app.
