Hi all,
As titled, I am having issue when watching movie through my shared computer. Basically, I have shared my external hard disc through my PC on my local network and I am able to see and watch them using ES File Explorer when connected through wifi. Everything works fine...... for the few minutes, then movie would freeze and I would have to exit movie player (MX player) wait for 10s and resume it. These ain't HD movies I am watching... just some DVDrip or TV shows (e.g. South Park etc)
Any help would be appreciated.

I've got a NAS at home which I can easily connect to from my GS2 when out and about and I can view all my stored files (music, photos and vids)
These are remote files sitting on my NAS box at home and not locally stored on the phone or my SD card.
I can also select any of the remote music and photos files and they open just fine with the installed stock apps , but when I try and open a vid (avi & divx formats) the stock video app doesnt like it
I was wondering whether anyone has any recommendations on a video/media player that can open my vids (avi & divx) from a connection over the internet?

Hi is any way to stream my movies from my computer that is runing windows7 to my sgs2 i mean somthing like windows media server please help thank you ????

Use Samsung preinstalled Allshare... Only some video formats supported.. As usual, the folders on pc should be shared on the network..this should be done by installing Allshare on pc... Set it run on boot... Or have to launch each time when streaming

File Expert can browse windows network shares via WiFi, dolphinbrowser opens them as a Stream, and Rockplayer plays them (Definitly AVI formats, which is all I use)
Works pretty smoothly on N class WiFi, I've watched several episodes of American dad and a few movies on it in the bath (waterproof cycle case FTW!)
Using ES file explorer from google play to get access to my shares and play the streams with MX Video-Player. Everything works fine for me. Even .mkvs in 720p over WiFi are looking great and playing without lags.

Hello, I do this too I think ES File Explorer + MX Video player will give a higher quality (since you're opening the file itself, instead of getting a limited bitrate video stream).
I think you could use VideoLAN (vlc) to stream video to a dedicated port or something, you can always google about it if you want.

Is it possible to play a DVD off my laptop on my tablet without ripping?
I’ve been trying to stream a DVD from my laptop to my Asus transformer tablet (running ICS 4.0.3), but so far couldn't find a way. I tried VLC for Windows + VLC Stream & Convert for Android combination, but there is no option to directly play a DVD, selecting individual VOB files wont work.
The only way I could manage to get the DVD video to play was to stream disk content though VLC's stream option, but this doesn’t allow any control over playback (Pause, FF, Rev etc..). I also tried setting up a DLNA server with Windows media player, but again there is no option to play a DVD , it can only share video files available on the local hard disk.
Now I'm beginning to think what I'm trying to do is not possible. Does anyone know how to do it ?

For now I’m using splashtop HD remote desktop app, frame rate is not always good, but most movies are watchable, guess I'll have to use that till something better comes along.
is that a MPEG-PS VOB File ? then u can play the individual file by MX Player..

btw u can extract the movies from a dvd using the img file.. sometimes there are 2 movies in 1 vob file

Thing is not all my videos are in .mp4 format majority are in .avi. I am able to see the thumbnails of the videos but when I play them it says cannot be played. So on the side there is an option where you can search for wifi players. Tried that and even though I have video apps like mobo, vlc, and mx video installed. HTC doesn't recognize these options as wifi players. So should I convert these movies to .mp4? Im trying not to because most are HD movies over a gig each.

Clear the defaults for your stock video player and tap on the movie you want while using a file explorer then pick what player you want. The player option is for you to stream from your phone to a device that can hande the format, not an app on your phone.

I have a computer with a bunch of storage attached to my one and only TV downstairs.
Its got movies, shows, and music aplenty.
Sometimes I want to watch some of that stuff upstairs, or outside or whatever on my phone/nexus7. I have airstream set up and it works well for streaming, but I cant delete/move things remotely, which I would like to do.
Any ideas?
