Well the subject says it all. I'm going to sell my i717 to my friend on t-mobile. I'm going to restore it to stock via kies, and then flash cmw and a modem but I don't know which one works for t-mobile. And yes it is unlocked.
All these views and not a single answer?

have your tried checking the MD5 or just re-downloading whatever rom you are trying to PUSH? Also check which version of ODIN you have. Like issues with the Charge, Notes seem to have an issue playing with the Odin interface.
All im pushing is the twrp and su for root . I have v4 of odin the newest v

1st are you already rooted. If you are, you should be using recovery to flash new ROM's not Odin.
2nd. Not sure how much this will help, but try Odin 3.07

not rooted. trying root for the first time on this unit. ill look for an older version thanks for trying to help out:good:
First, I'd say ditch the toolkit and do it manually. At least when it fails, you'll have a better idea of where and what was going on. Where is it failing? Is your device recognized by Odin if you try manually? Have you installed drivers for the phone?

should now look for a rooted stock firmware like this http://stockroms.net/file/GalaxyNote2/SCH-I605/rooted/root66_VZW_stock_system.tar.zip
im a bit new to this style of rooting. im used to the .zip stuff. im guessing this new way of doing things is because of the bootloader being on lock down?

I'm not sure who posted that one, but that is correct. Have you checked to see if you have a pre-ota rooted stock rom? I would check the android thread about rooting and using odin to make sure there's been no changes. Odin is usually pretty easy to use (ONCE you get it to recognize the correct drivers.)
It is a new phone so I would guess not but ill look and read more. Thanks a lot

Downloading the Rogers version right now from sammobile/hotfiles. I don't know about including anything more. I do know it is 610MB compared to the 770MB ATT version. Will report back.

Thanks for the tip. I did try 3.0something not sure if it was 3.0.7 that could be my issue. Man I
I spent countless hours trying to get it to work. I'll check the link thanks. Wish I found this link earlier.
Thanks again
Anyone have a flashable zip of the Canadian Roms? I found the at+t ice older and slower than the Canadian ics and with a few menus at+t never had.
I will try them all one day.

Hello guys, I am on stock mk2, 4.3 with root, and I just downloaded safetrap 3.71 haven't installed it. Im familiar with flashing via twrp, however Im not sure which method to use. There are alot of different methods from downgrading to upgrading. What is my best option? Will i need to update modem+kernel?
i can only recommend visiting my thread and downloading 1 file upgrade. either the Complete Package which has all the apps modems modules ect you'll need or just the NC2 or NC5 1 file upgrade you flash in Odin 3.10 for the safest and easiest upgrade possible since your already on 4.3 rooted with safestrap then you don't really need to worry about downgrading as you shouldnt have to downgrade. Just avoid OTA/Full System Odin Flashes and well anything with bootloaders in them... at least thats what I'd do if I was you

I was particularly looking into this method: 1545_MK2toNC5_KeepRoot http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2749660
why is it bad flashing this OTA? Also just from reading posts, if I flash full nc5+root i had to flash modem + patches? or am I incorrect? This phone is going to be for someone else, So i want to stick with stock + root as much as possible. One key feature it must have is wifi tethering.
Also, what method are you suggestion I use in your post. method1 or method2?

That's the way I did it (munoz_ri's I545_MK2toNC4_KeepRoot), starting with clean MK2. One small flash and a reboot and it's done.
If you're starting at MK2, that's the fastest way to go.
If you're starting at NC5, use Surge1223's or Gigilie's upgrade. techguy2002's directions are easier to follow than Gigilie's IMHO.
Here's some very well written instructions for gigilies method: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2769480

Shouldn't we ask if the op wants to keep an mk2 bootloader or wants stock nc5 at this point? Different files produce different outcomes.

I didnt know. I just finished flashing the ota and seems to work fine, apart from getting auth issues from hotspot. But this phone currently doesnt have service(activated) so i cannot test the hotspot. But things seem to work well. Whhy would i need a different bootloader, and how can i tell which version I am on?

Get this free app, it will tell you: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=org.vndnguyen.phoneinfo
Mk2, NC2, and NC5 are all valid bootloader as well as ROM bases and it might matter which combo you have if you run into bugs down the road.

HI, I've been through all the forums before and fixed my tab from stock once before by loading ICS onto it, but now, about 6 months since I fixed it, it is again getting stuck just after the Samsung screen and wont load any more.
I have been through everything I did before to fix, but nothing is working this time. I am new to this but have a VERY general understanding on what to do.
I have flashed with various recoveries, and bootloaders, tried installing the ROMs again, but nothing works.
I am stuck and need help. can anyone give advice?

Hmm... Sounds slightly familiar with something I had a few days ago. I reflashed the stock 4.0.4 rom with Odin to fix it. Then did a full factory reset with the stock recovery. If you can still access your files when you connect your tab to your computer then this is the time to make a backup of everything you don't want to loose. I copied my nandroid backup back on my tab and it's just the way it was before I messed it up with a bad flash.

I'll give anything a try! I'm not worried about what's on the tab, I've already wiped it several times trying to fix it. So since I had the ics rom on it does that effect reflashing with a stock? I don't mind what rom I'm running just need it to work! Where do I download the stock rom? I have some pretty basic questions. .. So once I download the stock rom, I use Odin (any particular version?) and flash with the file in the pda section? Then reset to factory setting in the recovery mode. .. Is that how u did it?

Yes, download the stock rom from sammobile and flash it with Odin (I used 3.07) and (normally) you're good to go.

Sadly I don't know. I have the gt-p7510 WiFi so I can pretty much flash what I want. If you don't use your 3g on your tab I would be inclined to say yes, flash away. But if you do I would be cautious.
