Helo guys, I used to own a Samsung Galaxy S, and last week I got the Droid X2 from Verizon. So now I'm seeing new terms being used like sbf, debloat, freeze, etc...
My DX2 is root and I also have the V6 Supercharger, and I still can't get the GB update.
I believe many users on this forum have the same case as mine, so can anyone give us steps to follow in order to get the update.
Thank you so much
sbf back to stock using rsd.

I came from a similar situation. I just got the x2 as a replacement for my fascinate due to repetitive missed call issues. I updated to Gingerbread today using the tips on this forum & the file posted to the mediafire link. The first thing you'll need to do for this update to work is undue all the non-stock modifications you've done.
Unsupercharge
Unfreeze or replace any stock apps you may have uninstalled. This is where the sbf comes in, it's the stock image that was loaded when it left the factory.
Unroot, might not be necessary but its better safe than sorry. Especially since this update is unrootable atm.
Rename the downloaded file update.zip & put it in the root of your sdcard-ext.
Flash from the stock recovery & you should be good.
Whatever other info you need, search these threads-its in there somewhere.

So the sbf brings back the DX2 to its original settings and apps?

That's my understanding. But I haven't done it so I can only go off what I've read here.

The SBF does infact restore you to stock 2.2.2
It should also be the first thing you do when you get the phone (before rooting etc) It blows my mind that people would mess with their device without doing an SBF at least once.
The SBF will usually require you to battery pull at the end, go to stock Android recovery and wipe data and cache. (unless you did that before running the SBF)
On Vista and Windows 7 make sure you right click RSDlite and choose to "run as admin"
Everyone who did the OTA or the 2.3 update from here at XDA and wants p3droids rooted update is going to have to SBF momentarily. We should get rooted 2.3 this afternoon according to p3's twitter
I unrooted my phone and uninstalled the Supercharger, I sbf'd back to stock Froyo successfully, and still I can't get the update. What else should I do?

GREAT, you have completed step one. Do not load anything else on your phone. You will not be getting a over the air update.
You have more work to do to get 2.3.3 on your phone.
Just follow the direction at this link.

Just to be clear.... He should eventually get an OTA update if he waits long enough. But he won't be able to root it. So follow the link above, and do those steps to install the rooted version of the update from 3Pdroid.
(Yeah I know that's obvious, but the title of this thead DOES include the words, "I'm Totally Lost". )
Thanks all, I'm on the pre-rooted GB now
Much appreciated

Did you sbf and take the latest OTA? The current version of the Eclipse will function only on that version of gingerbread.
yes but ill try it again just to back track my steps. I have factory reset had to sbf after Miui and before. I always sbf and wipe no matter what I do I am kind of OCD and have to start new Ill give it a go right now.
I have also tried new SD cards as well. I have been messing with dev. for a while so I know a lot about it I also read everything and more before I do anything (OCD) Been working on my A100 and its been easy and was easy flashing Miui dont know what I missed
I have the correct 2.3.5 (412) build so I dont get it

If you are trying to flash Eclipse 2.2.1, you must be on the OTA 2.3.5 (418) build. Also, you have to root 2.3.4 and backup root using Voodoo before updating to 2.3.5.
and remove voodoo's su backup, before flashing eclipse
Sent from my DROID X2 using xda premium
Latest official is 418. Latest eclipse won't work with 412. That could be the problem.

I'll remove voodoo but I DL Eclipse that was with the 412 file in the same thread unless I did not see It right. I tried to flash this a week ago and had to stop messing w/it I was editing band pics in PS & LR so I just now picked it up again. I DL the Blur version 412 should I kick that to the curb and DL 418? I was under the impression that the GBP7v0.5 would work with 2.3.5 412 though if so that would not flash as well

Correct me if I am wrong Eclipse did work with that version at one time or no? I saw Eclipse 3.0 but have not read the forum yet and I have been working on my Acer tab more. When I was on 2.3.4 I had no issues with Miui I had to sbf to 2.3.4 from OTA Leak 2.3.5 b/c I was not to fond of that rom at that time I will flash it at another time. I really dig the Eclipse Rom so if I need to start ov and it looks that way then I will have to read up on everything so I know what I am doing and not half assing it. I hate doing that.

I saw the 3.0 version for the Bionic and I have 418 DL now I am going to read some and flash the 418 and try Eclipse then if all is good take care of voodoo and hope it works. However I have some reading to do before hand. I am sure if it foes not go right I'll complain about it even if it is an operator error I'll still have to blame my DX2 for any errors. I think thats how it works

Edit: See post below.
You don't even need voodoo anymore. Just take ota and root using motofail.

Did ya get it?
LaserChicken, those steps are incorrect!!
In order to flash eclipse 2.2.1 just do this...
-SBF to 2.3.4
-Root using Petes 1 click method
-Download VooDoo OTA Rootkeeper from play store
-Backup root & TEMP UNROOT (do not delete backup yet!!!!!!! )
-Settings>About Phone>Software Update> DOWNLOAD 2.3.5 OTA
*After downloading 2.3.5 from system settings the phone will reboot to stock recovery and install 2.3.5 kernel.*
-Reboot
-Open VooDoo, restore root
-NOW DELETE SU BACKUP FROM VOODOO
-Once you restore root & delete the backup < IMPORTANT! from voodoo you should be able to flash eclipse from BSR

Straight from nitro in another thread. Sbf, take ota, root via motofail, install bsr and flash eclipse then profit. So much easier than the previous method.

saw that, but I haven't got motofail to work with 2.3.5/1.3.418
Ok, I just grabbed Motofail, gonna sbf and try it myself.
I am about to try this one more time I have been dealing with my psycho fish giving birth to about 80 swimming eyeballs so its been a crappy day and I hope my DX2 does not feel the wrath. I have Factory Rest the phone with and without Voodoo I have also let it OTA and that was with the Stock version 2.3.4 MOTO sent installed on the phone. I have missed a little step and I am going to do what well...all of you guys said and ill let ya know in about 30. Also you guys F-Ing ROCK!!!!

First you need to root, check here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1818758
and if you are on 2.3.5 the only rom available is Eclipse, but its a good one. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1198857
I'd recommend sbf-ing back to 2.3.4 using RSD Lite. The X2 2.3.5 update, as far as I know, is not able to be rooted unless you root it while it's on 2.3.4 and then protect root before you apply the update. I'd go with the CM7 ROM which requires 2.3.4; been using it for 2 months with no issues.
2.3.5 is rootable, I know because I helped make it work, for the X2

And Shadow, my bad. I ran into you on another thread as well. I was unaware 2.3.5 could be rooted, I've been out of the loop for a while. Kudos for getting it rooted!!
i know this is going to be the deal breaker but i have a mac... and i cannot run those files///

First I want to thank everyone on this forum for all the nice work, and great information. Now my question, My wife and I both have Droid x2 phones, and have both seen increased issues since the 2.3.5 OTA from Verizon. I am a very tech-savy guy, I do IT for a living, but still am not 100% comfortable with flashing phones. I have SBF'd my Droid x2 a few times, and finally got the courage to flash Eclipse 2.3 on it. I would like to explore some different roms, but am wonder how to tell which stock(2.3.4 or 2.3.5) I should have installed before flashing a rom? I did read that Eclipse 2.3 you needed to be stock 2.3.5, but I am looking at CM7 and CM9, but could not see where it was stated to be on 2.3.4 or 2.3.5. Would someone be so kind as to give me a bit of incite on this. Does a rom have to say it is for you phone to flash it? example I was looking at CM10, jellybean rom but do not see it listed for the droid x2?
Thanks for all your help

yes sir it MUST be in the droid x2 forums. and in order to go to ANY other rom from eclipse (since you OTA'd to 2.3.5) is to sbf . you can make an sbf disc im sure you can find in the main dx2 forum. its super easy, i have done it dozens of times. but that is the only way to get back to 2.3.4 and try out cm7, cm9, or the other ports. all of these are only partially working. just so you know. eclipse is most likely the best we have, but the others are still awesome to try out, they just have bugs. or non working parts.
Hello. I may be repeating some other threads, but I could not find the answer. Is there a one click or other method to root a CDMA Motorola Droid Razr after update to Jelly Bean 4.1.2? The phone has never been rooted before.

There is a fix for those who were rooted and lost root during the update....
It is in this thread somewhere (sorry I don't have time to find it) You had to heve Voodoo OTA rootkeeper to start out with for the utility to work.

I'll keep browsing through what is or isn't compatible. Perhaps one of our amazing Dev's is already on this. Can't imagine it will be long
sicne you cant flash back to ics no, i voodoo'ed before i came over to JB and when when i checked root on JB with rootchecker from the app store it said it wasn't rooted, but titanium back up and other rooted apps said that the device was rooted properly. i ment to test it some more and make sure i was really rooted

I am in need of the same answer. Thanks for asking it.
If you were not rooted before updating to JB then there is no way (yet) to root JB.
I have to ask... Why would someone who was not rooted suddenly decide they needed root after updating? I can understand if you lost root due to being one of the ones that did get the OTA but why all of a sudden decide you need root.
Thread moved. Please post all questions here in Q&A in future.
Thanks

I am in the same boat as the OP so I will provide my reasoning for wanting root now.
This new stock JB load now forces a check against your verizon account when you attempt to turn on any form of tethering. This includes the builtin wireless hotspot AND unfortunately FoxFi wifi/bluetooth. So as of right now I went from an excellent mobile internet connection to share with my Asus TF700 tablet to now having no internet sharing capability.
Grrrrrrrrr......
I followed the thread's instructions above by using voodoo rootkeeper. (droidrzr - Matt's post: New JB update how to keep root)
When you are following Matt's instructions, DO NOT FORGET to update SU binaries. Do this before you protect root, then use voodoo to protect root, temp unroot. Then Protect root, then temp unroot AGAIN. Finally, PROTECT ROOT before you actually flash the update.
Worked for me like a charm. Now im trying to make a JB-leak rom

same happened to me. Heard some of the devs are working though
Don't expect a quick solution for this from djrbliss...it is not likely to be coming soon.
Nobody else of his caliber is working on root exploits for Motorola devices unfortunately, and very few people understand the value and uniqueness of his contribution to the Motorola community.
He has rooted every Motorola device since the D3 and everyone who has used a rooted Motorola owes him a huge debt of gratitude.
Just sayin'...
I too lost root after my Jelly Bean update. Unless there is a better thread to keep my eye on, I'll keep my eye on this one for a rooting method for my RAZR XT912. If I hear of anything somewhere else, I'll come back here and let people know. I hope others will do the same.

First i would like to say i don't have this phone. But i was wondering if a sbf file could be put together like the one that is used to downgrade the D3. I don't know if this could be done from JB>ICS or not but i thought it might be worth a look. Droid 3 downgrade sbf
