Cheapest Low-End Model Android Device with Stable CM7 Root? - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

What's the cheapest android out there that has root capabilities and a stable CM7 source?
I know MetroPCS's m835 is only ~$40-~$60, and although not officially supported, has CM7 capabilities at somewhat (but still very buggy) stable CM7 kernal and support.
What else is out there?

LG Optimus PRO is an good idea. Official CM7 support, kernel, etc. OR you can get the SAMSUNG Galaxy Y, or the Galaxy 5, you choose.
My indication: OPTIMUS PRO from LG

LG optimus one
it even has cm9 which is even better

Thanks for the input
Looking at eBay seems super-cheap with capability.
Are there any cheaper ones that just have cm7 rooted full support that anyone has come across?
Seems by rooting you can get a super-cheap android tablet, even without a sim card or phone support, that will fit in your pocket and have a tons of functionality and possibility.
Who can find the cheapest

Going to make my purchase today guys, any last minute recommendations?
Thanks

LG optimus one
It has official Cm7
And fully functional Cm9
And daily driver suitable Cm10

[Q] which phone do i get??

Hey guy i am planning to get a new phone...while i found lg optimus good and within my budget..is there any other phone as cheap as it and running android 2.2
No, when I was looking for a phone just a few weeks ago, the LG Optimus was the only one in its price range that had decent hardware and Froyo (2.2). Now we have a custom recovery and a selection of good quality ROMs so you won't be sorry.
I agree with neilmb.
Also dont forget the fact that LG will surely provide Android 2.3 upgrade in the near future for LG O1, and that's another reason you could get it.
There are methods to root and unlock all its potential (HW Accelerator + Jit etc.) in a way that can always be reversed for guarantee matter, and you'll end up having almost a medium-high device at you hand by spending money for a low budget one.
Trust me, it's really promising
I managed to get it at 787 Mhz with HW Acc + Jit enabled + Touchscreen bug fix, and it's in truth another device...so far with this asset I've never experienced slow games/apps and the native UI (I've not flashed a Modded ROM still, just the kernel for setCPU App to work, plus custom recovery and root) is working smoothly now.
Approved I'd say
thanks for your suggestions ....i got the phone and its currently running at 806 mhz...lol..

Optimus V ROM options?

Im getting ready to buy this phone, its the Virgin Mobile US model which to me looks to be exactly like the Optimus S from sprint. I was wondering what my ROM options were using this specific model, or if that even really mattered much. I want maximum performance for games and apps but aiming for decent battery life too, maybe something that scales and only overclocks when it needs it kinda thing (ive played with SetCPU and Milestone Overclock before on a moto Defy). Any help would be appreciated.
On a sidenote, does anyone know how Rocket Bunnies runs on this phone?

Someone from android central tried cm7 for the optimus s and said it was working pretty good.
saw a phandroid post of a rom called Xionia-VM designed for the optimus V. Ill keep an eye out for that, do you guys have any experience with this?
Here's a subforum dedicated to optimus V, it may be possible to use the ROMs from Optimus S, since they're so similar, but it might be best to ask there first.
yeah from what i gather if i use Optimus S roms the home and menu buttons will be backwards and the accelerometer wont work. @[email protected]
There are 2 working ROM's so far on the Android Central Forum for Optimus V, I'm currently running Rodmius 1.1 myself. Works great. Haven't tried Xionia yet

[Q] durability - your opinion + preferred ROM

Hi,
So I got my wife a new SGH-T989 and received as an inheritance a Motorola Atrix.
I have two questions:
1)
I don't know whether I should use it or continue using my extremely sluggish Motorola Defy. The main objection to switching is that I don't treat phones nicely: I check my phone for messages when I go out of the pool dripping wet, I run with my phone in an armband that can get pretty dump and in general I don't watch my phone quite carefully.
How rugged / durable is the Atrix? Will it sustain such misbehavior?
2)
Assuming I'll switch phones, I would like to pick a ROM according to the following priorities:
A) Stable.
B) Fast.
C) has Hebrew support.
Which ROM would you recommend? A possible answer is just to stay with the current version (for example, if no ROM is really stable).

There are lots of stable roms for the Atrix... personally I'd recomend that you install CM7 latest nightly (http://download.cyanogenmod.com/?device=olympus), you'll find information about it here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1325943. Also, you'll be able to overclock your phone and that will make it even more fast than it already is. Hebrew language can be selected in the settings as well.
As for your shoddy treatment of your phones and will the Atrix last... who knows? Best thing would be to modify your behaviour
Cynagonmod 7 or 10?
Hi,
I've just browsed Cynagonmod website and it seems there is an Atrix version of Cynagonmod 10.
How stable is it? How fast, compared to Cynagonmod 7? Does it support Hebrew as well?
Thanks ahead!
CM10 is fast & stable, however video recording doesn't work properly. You can use videocam illusion from play store. Not sure about Hebrew tho...

CM11 for at&t

I can't seem to locate a pure cm 11 for at&t, why is this did they only do it for the "enrc2b " or nvidia cpu. or what ever its refrenced as, i didnt know getting the att version would be such a pain in my ****ing ass, or i woulda sprung the 30$ and got a used international which was only going a little higher than the normal version anyways on ebay -_-
I really am a big fan of beanstalk but beanstalk is enrc2b , so now i'm ass out. I run beanstalk on my tf700 and my e980 lg optimus g pro, i love it. works beautifully, oh well i run pure cm 11 on the tf700, but I've run hundreds of roms and anything bsided cm based has been **** after a few months of running. currently on month 2.5 of my e980 install stable and pure and awsome, with exceptional battery life.
so, can somebody please show me an at&T cm based rom for this phone?

you should have shelled the extra $30 out. I gave up on CM* on the evitareul as it was a major PITA.
The device is now in the hands of someone who work's for CM, i'll chase him up.
Oh and it's only done for the enrc2b because i maintain it and got it official.

Getting around to getting an unlocked ROM... EVENTUALLY!

I've had my LG-G5 H850 for a few months now.... really hated the LG UI, but managed to get it close to usable with Google Now, etc so I didn't rush into it....
The only thing about the LG ROM that I'm nervous about losing is the LG camera software.... does the dual mode camera and all the manual options (incl RAW photo's, etc) still work in Cyanogenmod / similar?
Which ROMs are people running? I notice that there's still no Cyanogenmod/Mokee build for the G5
Are people just running stock, rooted and debloated?
Custom Roms
Hey
As you already know there are currently no cm roms as of yet but there are 3 custom roms to my knowledge. The current custom roms all use the flagship camera software so your good to go ahead with flashing any one of them.
I doubt Cm will run the flagship flagship camera software and im unaware of any cm camera software utilising the 3 cameras as of yet.
I was a D855(G3) owner for the past 3 years. The Rom development was huge but unfortunately no cm based or aosp based Rom was able to go even close to stock camera quality. LG camera framework was closed coded and LG hasn't shared the code yet. So I guess the same thing will happen to G5. I just hope for more developers to join the G5 community.
I was also on LS990 lg g3 since it's release till coming to g5 and I mainly ran pure AOSP,XenonHD with a few exceptions for some CM-based ROMs... Till I found Fulmics(which was similar to UX 5.0) which was amazing despite missing some features find in AOSP/CM-style ROMs
But I must say I love UX 5.0 with app drawer; I think I'm part of the minority that thinks LG did a great job with their new UI,esp compared to the old UI's...
At this point I wouldn't want to run CM-anything...esp if it means giving up my camera! I mean if u want a circle battery icon that bad just install gravity box... But this UI has grown on me
Any specific custom ROM recommendations?
I was going to follow this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/lg-g5/development/recovery-team-win-recovery-project-lg-g5-t3363047
and then CMremix (based on CM-14.1)... I think!! (from here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/lg-g5/help/rom-cmremix-rom-v1-xx-t3502055)
And thanks for the info about the LG camera software - it's the one piece of LG software that I've been really happy with - definitely would have looked to keep that, so good to hear that it is being ported as-is into the custom ROMs.
Ever since Samsung "did an Apple" and abandoned all their enthusiasts and tweakers (as Apple did in the 1980's), I've been looking for an alternative like LG!!!
