Get excited Sprint users! - Sprint HTC EVO 4G LTE

Evo 4G LTE users finally get Sprint 4G LTE on July 15th!
I can't quite post links yet since I'm new but a quick Google search would pull up the Sprint community thread describing this date.
I don't know about you guys, but the speeds that LTE offers exceeds the speed I get at home on my ISP.. plus on my side of the house even Sprint's 3g beats my home wireless . I'm excited to see how the network holds up and how battery life is influenced.. The discussion that the antenna is on the processor similar to 3g and that battery life will be similar is making me antsy to find out.. Maybe it'll be even better since over here in Dallas LTE towers seem to be everywhere.. What do you guys think about this?

I'm optimistic but trying to not get too excited. I have no idea what the coverage will be like here in San Antonio. If I can pick up an LTE signal while at work I would be ecstatic but time will tell.

WHAT? ...im getting LTE in a week OMFG ..thanks so much...

Sorry man but this isn't new news. Here in the General section there's a buncha threads on this. The 15th is the first round to about 5 cities I believe. And that's it. Other markets follow over the next 2 years. Considering your new here, these guys should take it easy on ya. RIGHT FELLAS?

Well, I wasn't really saying that it was new news. I just wanted to post it to see what people had to say about it.. which is what I got so this thread still did what it was supposed to do for me

Just playing op..its just initiation. Lol I went through it for a while and still an a noob in a lot of respects. search is your friend around here..and if you think you have new news most likely xda has been talking about it for a week ..

speeds will depend on a bunch of different things. CPU modem, traffic, etc... highly unlikely that you will see real time speeds of the ones claimed. wait until the network is bogged down.

I remember working in Philly when the EVO 4G launched on the WiMAX network and when signal was stable it was impressive (compared to 3G anyway). I cannot wait.
I picked up a 4G signal briefly in Huntley,IL. (not too far from Huntley) I was driving and streaming pandora.
I did not get to do a speed test, but I did do a screen shot. Signal was gone as fast as it came on.

I was in huntley (just north of 90 on 47) last saturday, and no lte. This must be very recent.
I hope we start getting it within the next month or so. I'm pretty tired of these terrible 3G speeds.
I'm from Rockford illinois and we officially have no lte yet but i was told we will soon . Not holding my breath on that one:/.

Yeah exactly.. my guess is they were still just testing it
No LTE from West Chicago to Lombard
My EVO is getting lonely without his friend LTE!
If we look at sprint track record these could actually be the speeds. There slow in about every network 3g or 4g wimax when compared to the others. The 3g I's slower than some pre paid tracphones i done seen surf the internet my goddness. I had to tuck my evo in my pocket when someone asked me to look up something it took a while so i just said my battery died and everyone said i thought you're phone last all day .My friend trac phone looked it up in seconds and he's on edge network ugh.

Be patient, they were probably testing. It isn't live yet and won't be for a while. Especially in and around the city, since they're moving outside-in. Check the link I posted. If Sprint waits for 50% site conversion, then expected launch would be September. Which would mean we probably won't see anything until August at the earliest. This could be sooner if they decide to start rolling out before 50%
Can this be true this guy @insidesprintnow posted this on his twiter and lately my sprint reception has been horrible can this be why ?

LTE in NYC in October for sure

I called sprint to complain about network issues and was told that they are upgrading the towers. He said it should be done on Oct 17th. So I guess that confirms it for me

What network issues? The network has been behaving itself as of late. Then again I'm over by 30 Rock so we get decent connectivity/bandwidth.

Sometimes companies tell you what you want to hear to silence you. Are they working on towers? Yes. Will it roll out in October for NYC? Probably not.
Just like my ISP telling me I'm having slow speeds because of a "regional Internet problem" with THE internet. Yeah right. -_-

DFW
With the launch of LTE, DFW was on the list of having LTE. Phone never connected to LTE. After serveral phone calls, I was told the same thing, that the networks where being upgraded and scheduled to be completed in December. I see LTE every now and then now, but not long enough to get any use out of it. Speed Test showed it to be slower than 3G when I was able to connect. I got credit for 4 months (AUG -NOV) until LTE is fully up and running.

how do you know that it will be live in 2 weeks?
If Sprint gave you an exact date, and especially from a representative over the phone, they're definitely lying to you.
While I seriously doubt that's the date, I sure hope it is. I am sick of slower than dialup speeds on 3G and constant weak signal.
NYC and several other major cities have been announced to go live within the next several months, which means NYC can get it earlier than scheduled.....Finally able to use phone to the fullest
Has anyone in the NYC area gotten LTE signals yet? Wonder if they will test it before going live.

Sprint lte in palatine,il

does any one know when LTE in PALATINE will come live?
Largely depends on whether you're considered part of the "chicago" market which is supposed to be around september.
If you aren't part of that rollout.....Not anytime soon.
damn u have to be kidding me!! well i live like 20 mins from chicago. hope that the tower signal travel will travel far enought.
Well right now lte is about 10 miles or so west of palatine so it's just a matter of time. Now as far as Chicago getting lte I hate to say it but I don't think we might have lte this year . My office where I work has a sprint tower on it and a tech was out working on it and he was saying lte for Chicago might not happen this year with all the work they still have to do to the towers. I was also that Illinois already has 40% lte coverage so that's kind of good but could always be better
OP u say your from palatine well I am to so if u want to talk for some reason pm maybe we can get together sometime

Who did you hear that from? Sprint reps will tell you anything to leave happy.
Given that they haven't even officially announced there will be LTE for chicago, its probably not gonna be a few days from now
i cant wait till next year for LTE. darn sprint 3G Sucks! ive been waiting for this to long. those tower better go live this year. or else ill have to beat someone up hahah
If they're 40% done with Illinois, they could easily go live this month. Many of the first round LTE markets went live with much less than 40 percent complete. They won't be DONE with Chicago this year, but I'm sure they'll go live this year.

Some hope with Sprint's network vision

I just wanted to share some good news with the Sprint users here. Sprint recently launched LTE in the Chicago area and for a while I haven't seen any major improvements near me (south of Chi-town). For those in this area, I did a speed test in Lockport earlier tonight and pulled down 2-3Mbps. Normally, I might get 100-200 Kbps. I know many people have been suffering with far less than that, but wanted to let people know it's getting better!

LOL! That's nice, but how does this affect me, Al Franken?
I can't even find my state in the dropdown list for upcoming Sprint LTE deployments!
No doubt Sprint is concentrating on the population centers that they think will bring in the most revenue, just like my next upgrade will depend on which carrier can supply competitive 4G coverage in my area.

No our phones use 802.11e instead of the LTE protocols while some say a update could allow us to use it no one has really backed it up.
While 802.11e was the first revision of wimax and the next would have been better than LTE but to many others adopted LTE. YOu will need your upgrade to get a LTE device.
My upgrade is on the first of jan so I will be getting a nexus LTE device but won't see LTE here for a few years.
Seriously. Why would I use any newer phone if I have to drop back to 3G? I've been lucky and had unlimited WiMax since original EVO. Getting my girl a used Sensation off Craigslist and going to hook her up with Straight Talk. If the speeds are good maybe I'll go that route for a while. GSM Nexus off contract is probably the way I'll go next time.

I'm guessing this is a joke. Ask the folks in Beaumont, TX that have had eHRPD for several months now and their LTE build won't even start until next year. So I guess technically you are correct, LTE is coming everywhere. The question is just when..

Ever since they turned on LTE here in June I think I've had a LTE signal for a total of 20min. I talked to a sprint rep recently and was told that Sprint won't truly be finished with the Dallas LTE until sometime in 2013.
