[Q] 32 GB Model - Samsung Warranty - Galaxy S III Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I need this phone for testing and improving my FM app (see sig).
I'm about to pull the trigger on EBay and I see there's a true 32 GB model now. (Some vendors are being tricky with 16 + 16.)
I'm thinking the 32 GB models must be newer and less likely to have factory defects.
Any thoughts on buying the 32 GB model vs 16 GB, or on the vendor ?
I want Blue.
I bought a OneX from imobilephonex in Hong Kong and they were good and the phone got here in 5 days. But they have a mere "sellers warranty".
US $729 w/ shipping: http://www.ebay.ca/itm/New-Blue-Sam...0914836310?pt=Cell_Phones&hash=item4167d43b56
EBay seller never-msrp is in the US and claims "Full Manufacturers Warranty".
US $730 w/ shipping: http://www.ebay.ca/itm/Samsung-Gala...1065528311?pt=Cell_Phones&hash=item33788843f7
So I think I'll go with the "Manufacturers Warranty" despite the fewer ratings and the small drop from 99.8% to 99.5% Positive feedback.

[Q] cost of customs for SGS2 from U.K. to U.S.?

Anyone knows how much do we have to pay in customs if we import a SGS2 from the U.K. on release day? I am looking at purchasing one once I get a good review of the GPS performance and want to make sure I am not surprised with any hidden cost.
unless you live in new york, you dont have to pay any. you just pay for shipping, i ordered from clove.co.uk, and there was no tax, or customs charges, only a shipping fee of 14 their money. however mobilecityonline.com is US based, and is cheaper than clove, you will pay 699, no tax, free shipping, no international hassle. the only reason i went with clove was because they will get it to me anywhere from 2-4 days faster
edit, i just noticed you wont be ordering the day they get released, then it would be faster to order from mobilecityonline, because they will receive stock from uk, which will take a few days to ship, but after that, you can order overnite delivery if you live in the US, so i suggest mobilecityonline.com

MobileCityOnline has free shipping on pre-orders. But no ETA. Yes, it's 699 but no certain date when they receive stock.
I also ordered from Clove and it's about $744 with 2-4 day shipping. I hope it'll arrive by the end of that week. Also, I think there's some currency fee charged by your card issuer. Maybe 3%?
Handtec is slightly cheaper but they've been inconsistent with stock date.

I can't directly answer that question but an email from Clove says, "Samsung offer a two year warranty on the SGS2!!"
I suppose that's regardless of where you buy the phone from. Anyone care to input?

It Leaves You In New York.....
J/K
When I ordered a phone from the U.K to Chicago, I was not billed any customs rate what so ever. Even while ordering stuff from H.K, I didnt pay any customs.

then you have to pay sales tax, thats all, idk what it is over there, but in ohio its 7%
thats if you order from mobilecityonline, if you order from clove there wont be any tax. the tax is only from mobilecityonline because theyre actually newyork based, so newyork residents have to pay =/ not sure who would be cheaper in this instance, hmm
thanks everyone
That was one of my worries, at least I can breath now
Now to see if the GPS performs good or not. The first SGS let a sour taste in my mouth.
Ok, so the sellers that can ship to the U.S. that I have so far are:
clove.co.uk (444.00 euros + 14 euros shipping = 458 euros)
mobilecity.com (699.99 dollars + 0 shipping)
handtec.co.uk (515.99 euros + 12.99 euros shipping = 528.98 euros)
expansys.com (519.99 euros + ?? shipping)
expansys-usa.com (749.99 dollars + ?? shipping)
Watch out, UK still uses pounds, not euros
So it's actually 14% more expensive (1GBP=1.14EUR)

I believe the Handtec price you listed includes VAT, which you don't have to pay if you're in the states. The last time I checked it was about 430£.

It's 8.75%.
I tried figuring out where it's cheapest, realized that I was using euros instead of pounds, and gave up.
I just had jaw surgery so I can't think much right now... lol

Is it an international warranty? From my previous experience with Samsung products (laptops, not phones), the warranty would cover the item in the locale where it was purchased, which in this case would be the U.K. no?

Clove just emailed saying if there's an issue with the device, it can always be sent back to them.
They didn't mention any other details. It sounds pretty vague so I guess I'll have to deal with either SquareTrade or Ensquared.

and here I was thinking that was euros, so it is actually british pounds, hmmmm...
I guess mobilecity is the one
Guys, i want to make sure i've got it correctly: if I'm buying from UK (expansys or handtec) and ship it to USA address not in New York, in my case Pennsylvania, Philadelphia, then i wont pay any US taxes and customs, and expansys's price (which exclude EU VAT while shipping to US) + shipping costs will be my final price?
Price of phone plus shipping is what t
I paid. Shipped to Florida with nn tax.

[Q] MobiCity UK - S3 i9305 4G LTE

Hi,
I'm new to smartphones and am looking to buy the Samsung Galaxy S3 i9305 4G LTE 16GB from MobiCity UK (I'm based in the UK). I've looked at the standard (non LTE) version but want to buy SIM free and with some future proofing.
Under 'Specifications' it states 'Important Information' as "This discounted stock has a HK ROM with UK or US English locales."
Questions:
1) Is this safe to buy? What does this mean: 'HK ROM'?
2) Anyone had any dealings with MobiCity UK and if so, are they any good?
Many thanks.
1) could be a regional thing though i've had a phone come to me hacked with a custom rom installed.

Phone/ Firmware for HK .
Point one you should be able to flash stock UK firmware
Point two as its an import from HK probability is no Samsung UK warranty return to HK for warranty .

1. The rom will be chinese but regional settings will include UK/US English
2. I bought my i9300 from them in september. Got it in 2 days via FedEX with tracking from their china hub. Got a free universal charging adapter, a mobi-city bag and Mobi-city gold (Which is their version of 24 months warranty) for free. If the phone breaks send it to them, simple as.
Edit: Also, try adding it to cart and it will actually show you all the warranty options you have. Personally I would Buy the i9305, pick the free insurance option of 12 months, then go here http://gadget.insureandgo.com/ and buy the silver or gold option. That way your covered for BREAKDOWN, THEFT, ACCIDENTAL DAMAGE & Water Damage.I do have Mobi-city's gold insurance but as I stated above it came for free with my i9300

It's steeper than I'd hoped. Not to mention the difficulty getting this from Korea.

They're selling for 700,000 KRW (about 650 USD) here in Korea. That's cheaper than a leftover S7 (if you could even find one new), and about $400 cheaper than the S8/S8+ and soon to be released Note 8. Rest assured the 400,000 units going to market will be sold out in a matter of days in Korea; you can forget about buying it elsewhere for anything less than 1000 USD (with tax / duty / shipping), which nobody is going to pay for obvious reasons. Every new Samsung flagship sells for 1000 USD here; many Koreans will jump at a flagship level phone for 650 USD.
yeah!!! finally!!

Where to Buy International Version?

Starting this thread for anyone that buys the international version which releases this week... let us know where you bought it and how much you paid... I'm interested in this phone like many but have limited places in USA to look to buy (most are charging well over the actual price). This will help all of us find the cheaper places to possibly get this phone! Thanks in advance!
So far, I've found:
CLOVE UK: 644.00 pounds (around $820 USD)
EASYCELL: $1050 CAD (again around $800+)
I'm thinking this is high for this phone as if should only be $599 - $649 USD...
Go for the Chinese vesrion which is cheaper and bootloader unlockable. 537 euros only.

Not possible atm as far as I know.
I am from USA and looking to purchase the global version for a similar price as flipkart is selling in India. I want this phone but damn its hard to find one for a decent price that isnt insanely marked up.
Giztop sells for $720 for 8gb ram 256gb rom but thats the chinese version. Anyone in USA had luck finding this phone for sale?

Question Where to buy without a mark-up?

Anyone know where to get these without a mark-up? Asus doesn't seem to have the 16GB/256GB. The $800 + tax is already blowing my budget, so I can't afford the mark-up to buy from an Amazon reseller.
If there is only Asus, does anyone have a line on when the only model worth getting (since there is no sd card slot) might be available again?
Thank you.

Try this one. It's the same page I bought my launch one from. Still seems solid, IMO.
EDIT: This is the USA version (version C)
There is 11.11 sale on Aliexpress, 3 days left, and it's about $760 for 8/256 model.

Make sure if you buy on Amazon, the seller is mobile advanced. Other sellers are using the listing to push non us models
Mobile Advance has the 8/256GB available for $709 + tax: https://smile.amazon.com/ASUS-ZenFo...G-BK/dp/B0BBQ9MYR6?ref_=ast_sto_dp&th=1&psc=1 (which is a better price than Asus' website.)
Spending that much, it isn't too much more to just get the additional 8GB (16GB). While Android 12 & 13 don't 'need' 16GB, every version needs better hardware.
The only 16/256 version is NGP and they want $100 bonus. At that price you are in the same territory as the ROG phones (which are just beasts, albeit impressive beasts).
Hopefully they will get some more of them out of China soon. Hard with all of the Covid closures there.
