Anyone thinking of changing their Nexus 10 to this new tablet?

All the depends on the nand they use. ASUS uses cheap nands on their tablets which bottleneck the performance with turtle-like i/o speeds. This is from someone that owned an asus transfomer and still owns a nexus 7...
I'd be tempted. Depends how good the GPU is because the nexus 10's is far too weak for this resolution. Micro SD is nice also. Hopefully screen is super bright like the original

I concur, though I'll admit I'm now second guessing my N10... But I'll keep it. Better development.

I'd consider it. I love me nexus 10 but it never turned out to be the halo product that people said it would be. Or, maybe that I wanted it to be.
I really don't see the point in trading my nexus 10 for anything unless I can get better multitasking and multi-window support. Unless something really exciting is released Ill stick to my nexus 10. Maybe try Ubuntu on it.
Assuming here that the tab is using a tegra 4. The GPU may not end up being more powerful. Tegra usually makes one of the weaker gpu's on the market for mobile. The new tegra 4 GPU won't even be opengl 3.0 or opencl 1.1 compliant so you'll see a lot of improvements when android natively supports that

Why? Just because you say so?
This thread is located where it should be, because I'm asking if it's worth the change from my Nexus 10 to this new tablet. There's no Transformer Pad Infinity 2 forum yet.
So I guess to you every thread comparing the Nexus 10 to another tablet (like the thread comparing it to the Sony tablet Z) shouldn't be posted here right?

What made you choose this device instead of others? Will you select your next tablet based on the same criteria or do you care more about some other spec?

In this order:
Development, Processor, Resolution, Price
I came from the fantastic Acer a500, so it had to be a damn good device.
screen res, nexus status. if a new N7 was out with a higher res screen, I would have gotten that. but this was a work purchase, and the fiscal year is ending so I needed to buy now it's an upgrade from my galaxy tab 10.1.
edit: not a reason why i purchased, but the front speakers are impressive, at least compared to my old tab.
Development,screen, front speakers, design
I had a Nexus 7 at the time, and prior to that, a Galaxy Tab.
- I wanted to try a larger tablet
- The specs were pretty awesome
- Rear-facing camera (found it a real pain that my N7 didn't have one)
- Screen resolution
- Front-facing speakers
- Nexus
Was kind of concerned with the pace of development at first. Seems alright now I suppose :good:
Still kind of interested in trying out a Windows tablet for some specific games though...

Why did you make this thread? For post count?
Will you make future threads based on the same criteria or do you care more about spamming the forums?
In other words, did you search before making this thread?
It's a nexus and has soo many pixels. I like pixels. It was most certainly NOT because it has a rear facing camera.
Screen and specs, android, knew it would have a strong development community supporting it, specs will make it decent for a couple years, I travel for work and need something to check email daily, laptop too heavy, etc. And it's a fun toy.

the screen, the processor, nexus device, that black on black.
why
Have the Nexus 4 already.
Came from a Tablet S and was a bit disappointed in the updates or lack thereof as well as the shell design. Thought it was cool for about a week.
Top reasons:
Standard android
Screen
speakers
My experience so far is excellent with no complaints. It's much faster, better screen, better speakers, better wifi (much). I like some of the Sony apps like Music Unlimited but I can just download them if I want them.
I don't think I will ever buy another non-nexus device for cell or tablet. Price is right and updates are swift.
What made you choose Tablet S ?

tablet s
Thought it was a bit different at the time. Bought it back in 2011 when it first came out. Kind of bought into the whole it's easier to hold thing with the wide grip on the one side. Also the first to have the remote IR feature (which I never used hardly). I had the X10, Sony Arc and then the Xperia S so was just keeping it in the family so to speak. Still think the Sony UI is very intuitive compared to the Samsung, LG and Htc overlays.
I chose the Nexus 10 because it was the successor to the Motorola Xoom. Stock Android with updates direct from Google. That's what mattered. There was no other choice.
Winning it in the favorite things sweepstakes mostly

Pretty much any time I use it. Unlocking it, opening any app, trying to toggle wifi. It will sometimes freeze for seconds at a time, and the app will usually FC. It's been super frustrating because I don't have any of those issues on the same nightly for my S4.

Probably i know what ur Problem is. Look up the new trim function of android 4.3. That will probably tackle ur Problem. Basically its sort of fragmentation of the memory. You may factory reset if the problem persists because toggling wifi is such a simple task it should never lag. Cm has no stable 4.3 Version yet. I recommend flaming monkey rom, its lean light and fast (basic aosp with some tweaks). You see the N10 still has the bleeding edge architecture with the A15. There are faster devices but only 2 others or so with that modern architecture

I know I'm causing a risky bump with this one, by I'd like to comment on how the nexus 7 is in fact created by Asus, and happens to be immensely more popular than the Nexus 10. I would question the validity of the notion that the New Nexus 10 will suck just because it's made by Asus.

The Nexus 7 is more popular because of its much lower price, not because of it's manufacturer.

When it comes to design, the N10 really received great remarks from the November 2012 reviewers.
The soft/grippy feeling plastic actually handles great and looks good. The subtly rounded corners and edges has a great feel, no sharp edges that bite into the hands after prolonged handling.
Gave my N7 to my spouse and use the N10 as my daily tab. Been using a friends Samsung Note 10.1 2014 edition and it's real nice, but I still like the feel of the N10. Enough that I'm not rushing out to buy the 10.1 2014 edition at this time.
<too wild and crazy to post>
Hi everyone,
Christmas is coming and I'd like to buy a tablet. It's the first one that I'll get and I'm not sure yet if it's worth buying it. I've got a Samsung Galaxy S II and I'm really happy with it, I think I'll get a new phone next year (Maybe a Nexus device).
So, I can't decide between 2 devices:
-LG G Pad 8.3: it has a bigger screen (I think 8 inch is the perfect size even if I haven't tried it) and a faster CPU (I don't mind SD Slot)
-Google Nexus 7 2013: it's cheaper, smaller and, well, a nexus. I love modding and I'd flash a ParanoidAndroid (it seems there aren't many developers on G Pad 8.3), however I love Nexus devices' instant updates.
I'd choose Nexus 7, but I don't know if the screen is too small for a tablet. I'll use it for movies, games, browsing, and music. Here in Italy G Pad costs 255€, while Nexus 7 (32 GB) is 232€. Has someone got any advice for me?
Sorry for my english!

I would go with the Nexus 7 2013 because it's performance is excellent, plus you mentioned you love device modding and the Nexus 7 2013 has an very active development community, additionally it will have fastest updates as it's a Nexus device. As far as size is concerned 7 inches compared to 8.3 isn't necessarily that much of a difference compared to 7 inches and say 10 inches, but it really is a personal preference. If you do end up wanting the LG G Pad I would recommend taking a look at the Google Play Edition of the device that was just released if it's available on the Italian Google Play Store. Overall I would go with the Nexus 7 2013.

Don't you think google should move up the release of the nexus phones? What's the point of releasing them around october? It puts the phone in a weird position, millions have already bought the new iphone refresh, it has not so top of the line specs anymore, since a couple of months later we the galaxy , LG and htc phones released , not to mention the new qualcomm chips.
August should be a good time, the iphone is not out still and most of the android manufacurters have already released their flagships, what do you think?
Agreed
Timing is everything
Also quit giving us hardware that's "meh" example, 3 gig ram, when most flag ship devices are running 4 gig
Then for 2016, the higher end model is going smaller, MEH, wrong moves imho

the 4 gig of ram is only useful if you are keeping 60 apps running on the background..who keeps that many apps running anyways..the 3gig should be plenty..the note 7 will have 6gig and thats bc all the bloatwares running on touchwiz
Nexus was never about having best specs available. Its kinda obvious that this is your first nexus device, because all the ones in the past were the same. And releasing it at the end of the year makes it possible to sell cheaper.
Nexuses also cost significantly less than those flagship phones with 4gb of RAM

Yeah, the Nexus program was meant to showcase the new version of Android.
So the timing is all about when the new release of Android is available, which has traditionally been Q4. This is bad for phone releases since it means they are in between SoC availability time frames but the Nexus program was never meant to move large number of phones. Perhaps with the new "Phones by Google" program, they'll introduce a new line of devices different from the Nexus line. That way they can slot in releases sometime in Q2 like all of the other manufacturers.

Back on topic. The latest and greatest doesn't matter to me. I just need something that can follow my lead. They can release it whenever they want and I would still buy it.
I am not early buyer. (4-5 month after release.)
