Hey all,
I'm really interested in installing Deeco7's play store mod. The device is rooted and WT's custom ROM is installed. The problem is that I'm unable to install the modified version of the play store. He explains in his 'How to' that you need to backup and replace the Vending.apk file in the /system/app folder. Weirdly enough, there is no vending.apk to backup or replace...
Can anyone help me installing his mod? Or does someone know if it's - may be a better question - possible on our device?
Here is the link to his thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1650116

I'd be interested in this or instructions on how to pull it from the stock install. I've wanted to play it but much prefer Bionic Fusion and LauncherPro over stock and TouchWiz.

use some sort of file browser with root permissions (I use root explorer but its a paid app) and go to system >> App >> com.ideaworks3d.thesims3.apk
copy that to your computer or external sd for safe keeping then install your new rom. once your on the new rom you can put the apk in the same place you found it and install it, or you can put it in your internal sd and just install it from there.
I could send u the apk. If u want me too pm ur email.

Something I just ran across - I'm running Jivy's ICScreweD ROM, and Hulu+ doesn't show up in the on-device market, and indicates unsupported on the i9100 in the web market. My guess is that this is due to lack of international support for Hulu+, so no need for support on a non-US device.
Anyone have any thoughts on getting Hulu+ on the device with this (or presumably any other i9100 ROMs)?
Would it simply be a matter of tracking down a current Hulu+ .apk and installing it? Or will Hulu not play nice if it thinks I'm on an unsupported device?
Would a relatively simple edit to build.prop fix the issue? If so, can anyone provide a link to some guidance on what I should tweak in build.prop?
Thanks,
DD
Start by looking at the fingerprint in build.prop

OK, anyone got a stock ROM already downloaded and handy they could copy the fingerprint from the build.prop and post it here?
Any pitfalls associated with just changing that line?
Thanks

ro.build.fingerprint=samsung/SGH-I777/SGH-I777:2.3.4/GINGERBREAD/UCKH7:user/release-keys
Find a titanium backup somewhere on the forum and restore it. It worked for me.

OK. changed fingerprint in the build prop to the one pirateghost provided. fixed permissions, rebooted, cleared market data, and still no hulu+ app.
Time for some more research...

I forgot whom I got these files from on here, but all you need to do is download and extract the attached file to your TitaniumBackup folder then restore using App+Data. That should do it.

Thanks Magn2o, appreciate the upload! at least this will get me up and running until I can sort out the market to keep it updated!
Edit: file installed fine, let me log in. won't stream video, claims the device is unsupported. back to monkeying with build prop again...

HI everyone, this is my first post here so if i ask any noobest questions, please forgive me.
Here is the issue, I downloaded the S3 apk pack from HERE and wanna install some apps to my Nexus S.
Tried a few methods including copy&paste by using Root Explorer, using adb to push the "AnalogClockSimple.apk", "AnalogClockSimple.odex" and "PhotoWall.apk" and "PhotoWall.odex" in to /system/app and permision set to rw-r-r, then reboot.
Whatever i did, it just never show up at my widget drawer..
Anybody can help?
Days gone and still stuck up
Thanks everyone
Try adb pushing or installing them to data/app and see if they work!

Isn't data/app for installed .apk?
How about the .odex file?
I'm actually not to sure. But you should try it anyway just to be sure.

If the apps are simply taken from Samsung rom they will not work in any way. They need to be ported if I'm right
My own phone's Samsung apps had to be ported to work on cm7 and cm9
Hope this will help
Don't waste time pasting all apks and odexes and find them not work
Correct me if I am wrong

allspark2020 you are right. thanks for pointing it out.
Now i may either get CM9 for my nexus s or get a Samsung device
Thanks for everything guys~
I was using Titanium Backup and saw an option for "Convert to user app" so I tried to do that with the radio app but now it is gone and I can't even restore the app. I can't find it on the Play store nor anywhere else on Google. Does anyone have it or know where I can find it?
Thanks!
Download rom zip from here
