[Q] Message Counter Does Not Reset - Galaxy S III Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

My Galaxy S3 is benefiting from the OMEGA ROM v7 with Siyah kernel also installed. One small problem, that never existed before these installations, is niggling me. The SMS and Email counter on the respective icons does not clear itself after I have read received messages. The only way to clear them is to reboot the device or delete the icon and reattach it to my home screen. I've tried the SMS Unread Counter app from the store and that works fine, but as it's a widget it can't be attached to the area at the bottom where I have my 5 apps that show on every home screen. Anybody know how to fix the issue with the standard messaging and Email app counters? Anybody else suffering this?

i have this problem too

[Q] Whatsapp Integration with UI problem?

using samsung galaxy s2 and found a small problem recently.
so i go to contacts, then swipe left on one of my contacts to go to messaging.
i get the choice of using Messaging (SMS) or Whatsapp to message that contact. but choosing Whatsapp doesn't do anything at all, just jumps me back to the contact list. anyone else have this problem? Only choosing Messaging works properly.

I'm on stock 2.3.3 with Speedmod T29 and see similar behaviour as you describe so I guess it is a bug.

[Q] A couple SMS & Email Questions..

Hey guys,
Just a couple questions regarding my SGS2 running rooted Android 2.3.5:
1) Is there a messaging app which doesn't lag as much as the stock one? Also, I'm using GoLauncher, so will it allow me to replace the icon for the stock messaging app at the bottom of the screen with an icon for an aftermarket app, and will it show notifications of new SMS on my GoLocker lock screen?
2) How can I remove SMS log from my call logs? I saw this thread but have no idea what it's talking about when it asks about DEODEXED ROMs, and I can't find any system/app file on my phone when connecting it to my PC?? Can I simply just download a file and flash it via CWM or something?
3) I use the standard Email app, which is good, but it doesn't show how many new emails I have when I put a link to the app on my home screen. Is there a way to make it show how many new emails I have?
Thanks!!
For number 3, the standard email shortcut when placed on your home screen should have the number of unread mails at the top right corner the form of a orange circle, just like messaging.
Cheers mate, anyone know the answers of the other two?
anyone? :S

To answer my own question for others to benefit, I found an app in the Market called Samsung Log Converter which fixed this problem very quickly and easily!

Message

I have recently purchased an S3 and I am quite happy with it except it is showing one unread message and when you open messages there is not any unread messages.
I have managed to clear it by rebooting my phone and then when I receive another SMS it goes back one unread even though I have read.
How do I clear this annoyance.

Are you using the stock messaging app? I bet you're not... If you have a third-party SMS app, the stock messaging app will continue to register and notify about new messages received, even if they've been read in the third-party app.
To resolve this, just switch off notifications in the stock messaging app.
This is a bug in the firmware, it has been fixed you just need to wait for the OTA to be pushed to your phone

No. This is a problem with some S3s. Check this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1705015
My colleague had this issue and I played around with it on Friday without success but she says that the issue was resolved on Friday and she has received several messages and calls but the 1 is not stuck on the icon after reading the message anymore. I am at a loss as to what I did...

Can't send SMS to specific contact

I have an unlocked Galaxy S2 running stock Gingerbread (2.3.4), unrooted. A problem has arisen whereby I can no longer send SMS's to one of my contacts (it has never been a problem before). I've tried deleting all previous message threads with that contact, but it didn't help. I then tried deleting the contact and sending an SMS to her number. The message was sent, but when I got a reply I was unable to reply to it. The reply also picked up the other person's name from somewhere, even though I'd deleted the contact from both the phone and my Gmail account.
I've tried both Handcent and the stock messaging app, and neither is able to send an SMS to this person. Other contacts are fine.
Can anyone suggest a fix?

it could be a problem in your network.. i had experienced that before, i tried flashing different firmwares and etc but it still didn't fix the problem.. so might as well call you network provider.
or you could also try to reset to factory settings/wipe data or better yet flash a new firmware
Hi
I too haven't had this problem but a similar one where I can't access contacts on sum card. I think if you have had your phone rooted.and installed ics or another rom it formats it slightly different i think because when I installed the aroma rom I had on when I saved the contacts I could see them but when I switched roms they disappeared. Not sure this answers all your question but might explain why her name popped up after you deleted it. Try installing a simcard viewer I tried this as my next solution and was able to see prior contacts there is one somewhere with no permissions I think.
Hope I helped
The same problem has occured on my Galaxy SII: After the SMS-thread from one contact got deleted I can't send SMS to her, I get status "failed" and under message details it says "Error code 1", I receicve messages from her but can't answer them, however an MMS with a picture got sent yesterday.
Has anyone with similar problems found an answer?
I eventually flashed new firmware: Stock ICS via Kies (4.0.4). Still can't send an SMS to the contact though. Has anyone else resolved this yet?

[Q] JB Google MMS not threading

I'm currently using the Omega 26.1 build and love it.
The only thing is I hate the Samsung text/MMS app and wanted to replace it with the standard Google app now that Indie has released the JBKitchen app.
When I remove then replace the Samsung app texts from contacts aren't threading. My replies show in the individual messages but the replies from the contact come through as a new thread. If I switch back to the Samsung app they are all threaded as you would expect. This issue didn't happen when I was using the ICS rom as I could replace the app fine.
I've tried searching for this problem and although similar issues come up a fix doesn't seem to be evident.
Does anyone know about this issue and how to fix it?
