Stock Rezound rebooting - HTC Rezound

Okay so I ran my battery all the way down til it shut down and I charged it for a half hour and turned it on and it had no service but the wifi connected. Then after less than a minute the screen goes blank and it does it over again.
I did a battery pull, reseated the sim and sd cards but same thing. Now I figured out it will stay on when the back cover is off As soon as I put the cover on it shuts off again.
Any ideas??

Look over the back of the phone and inside the cover for anything that looks abnormal. I can't imagine how simply putting the backplate on causes it to shut off unless something grounds out. The only thing on the backplate are the extensions for the antennas. If you find nothing, Try a factory reset from bootloader. This will wipe your internal sd also so backup everything. If that doesn't work, grab the latest gb ota from the dev section and try reflashing that.

Have you S-Offed?

Just curious, since someone asked over in Q&A if S-On devices will still be supported, how many people are staying or not.
to me, the whole physically taking wires and jumping those pins is what turns me off to it.
i remember s-offing my inc, and just running that one click program...meh, if something like that comes along, i'll do it..but as for right now, i'm a bit weary of it
Yep, its a super easy, painless process. I have done it on 2 Rezounds so far, took me 2 tries on the first and I got it on the first on the second.
Yes, wasn't easy at first, just took patience & making sure the tiny pin connection actually got touched.
Do you still need to do the HTC dev unlock to get s off?

You have to be unlocked and rooted to do it, then once you s-off it will switch the bootloader back to locked.
Got it done. It wasn't nearly as hard as it was made out to be.
Did it Saturday night... Took me more time to back up my internal memory then anything. I had a spare SD card also.
Not yet.... waiting for a free block of time... perhaps this weekend
yup - took all of like 5 minutes - I used a paperclip wrapped with some electrical tape

Did the same thing...never had to leave my computer desk! Now I have a prison shank and nothing to do with it.

Yeah, it's pretty generous to call it circuitry in this instance! I mean, it is, technically you're completing a circuit.
Anyway, 90% uptake is pretty solid!

Also the issue seems to ONLY HAPPEN WHEN MOVING THE PHONE! SO I dont think Its a doftware issue. I tried changing battries same issue. It stayed on all NIGHT last night. Then when I go to touch it this morning it restarts.

How about if you leave the charger plugged in? Hopefully you can get the opportunity to get it restored to stock and have it exchanged under warranty.

It does it with charger too. But ONLY really does it while moving it
I CANT get it to even turn on now, It will viberate and show samsung and then shut off
I can get it into download mode for a sec and it will flash and turn off
The power button got mashed a little too hard.
If its store bought, its a warranty issue.
If its Craigslist or ebay you have to pull the whole thing apart and reseat the silver button in the case correctly and reassemble.
I've come across a few phones that have this defect.

Help needed. DNA wont boot/charge

Hello,
If anyone can save me a couple hundred bucks that I dont have, I would appreciate it.
Im running an S-OFF Unlocked DNA with
This rom - http://forum.xda-dev...d.php?t=2141129
and this kernel - http://forum.xda-dev...d.php?t=2021714
I've been running it without issues for two weeks. Today it just wouldnt turn on. It doesnt accept a charge. Ive gotten the white HTC screen to come on for a second a couple times, and I've gotten it to boot up fully once. But after the screen timed out, it wouldn't come on again.
Any help would be appreciated. Dont have money to buy another phone.
I've tried searching. Most people that have boot issues can at least get to a bootloader or recovery screen. I cannot.
Have you tried letting it charge for a long while? I've heard it takes some times up to fifteen minutes for the charging led to even lit.

I personally have never opened up this phone so I wouldn't know. But this is a suggestion that worked for someone else and has also worked when my nexus 7 did a similar act. It wouldn't indicate it was charging and wouldn't turn on but disconnecting the battery and reconnecting it worked for me. I doubt it's something to do with software as you said your set up was working fine for 2 weeks. I'm pretty sure this should fix it for you.

Well, I got the battery disconnected and reconnected. Even though the battery sits under the motherboard, the battery has a thin connector that its accessible without removing anything else. It doesnt appear that my problem has been fixed. I guess I wont ever know, my screwdriver slipped off the screw and connected with a pin on the board and sparked. Pretty sure I just shorted the whole thing.
Claim insurance or warranty. It sounds like a hardware problem if that didn't fix it.

I should mention it was jtagged. Not saying that was the root cause. But the inside of the phone is definitely different than a stock one. Mobiletechvideos.com put a different film on it than the one it came with. Any chance of warranty or insurance is out.
You can still try to claim it. Most of the time they aren't looking inside the phone. Though this really isn't your fault. It sounds like the hardware failed and that is why it wouldn't charge and boot. But we won't know now. I don't know how jtag works but it could have contributed to it.

Just to add my 2 cents,
I have sent back phones to verizon and asurion for issues and every phone except one was rooted and never had an issue. I even traded in my thunderboolt towards the dna when it came out (they offered me $72.00) and all i did was uninstall superuser/busybox & titanium backup right in front of the rep and my fiance then handed it right to the guy on the spot. He turned it on, made sure the touch screen worked & then said ok, you get full trade in price.
As for the other phones that I sent in, droid eris, incredible and 2 samsung, all with one issue or another, never once did they charge me or call or anything. Got the new phone next day, sent the old one in and thats it. I have never had an issue.
Now I know this may not have happened for every one but I think if you just send it in via mail and not have an instore rep look at it, you will never have an issue. I think if an in store rep sees an issue and realize its rooted, they may flag it in case it goes in for verizon replacement or asurion replacement but just a normal send in should not cause an issue.

[Q] Help please, phone has service and is activated but won't place or recieve calls

Hello all, this is my first technical question at xda. I usually don't have problems as i never dirty flash and generally use caution when doing things.
My i605 randomly shut off today and was unresponsive. After a few battery pulls i was able to boot it back up. The phone would not call or text, even though the signal bars showed normal. Right away i flashed a new ROM after 3 full wipes and the dalvik cache wiped. The phone activated on my number right away and showed normal signal, but won't call or text. I updated the modem to the latest 5/3, still no luck. Suspecting it was my SIM card, i tried it in another device and the SIM works fine. Does anyone have any ideas what could be causing this or anything i should try before reverting to completely stock?
Thanks everyone!

I put my wife's Sim in today. Same problem. It has started receiving text messages but will not send them or call. Data still works as well. Is there anything further I can do besides updating the radios to try and fix this issue? Obviously something is working if it can receive messages.

What were you doing when the phone locked up on you?
Did you notice any over heating, screen problems, lag. ETC.
What kind of case if any do you have on your NOTE 2.
What were atmospheric conditions (as this may have trapped moisture inside affecting the antenna)

I didn't notice anything out of the ordinary really. No case, and i never keep my phone with me if moisture is around. (rain, sweat, etc.) My phone was on when i was driving to work, when i arrived it was off and unresponsive for a few minutes. I've only experienced maybe 2 or 3 reboots since I've had the phone, pretty much since launch.
I hadn't updated the radio/modem ever though. I don't know if this had anything to do with it.

I'm glad that everything is working for you on the replacement. If I were you I wouldn't wait to unlock though. Sammy is pushing an update, at least thru the VZW computer app, that may block our current boot loader exploit and may make it un-unlockable.

This one is a doozy.

Verizon VS985. I cracked my screen, needing a new one. I ordered one off of Amazon and installed it. Now my GPS doesn't work (will not lock, searching for GPS) nor my notifications LED, both INOP. Any ideas to fix? PS: I can live without the LED flashing... the GPS not so much.

I was thinking bent pins from prying the back cover off maybe. Those 3 sets of connections are for the antennas. Just an idea.
